To strengthen your calves, try Step Up Arch Extensions. Use a step or stair and stand next to a wall for balance. Place one foot on the step and the other foot in the air. Exhale as you raise up on the foot on the step, inhale as you lower down. Do 10 reps on each foot, keeping the other leg relaxed and hanging behind. Keep your opposite hand on your hip and look straight ahead. Don't bend over or look down. Step Up Arch Extensions Get a step similar to the aerobic steps used in the exercise class or just a regular stair step. Start with one foot at a time, with one foot on the step and the other foot in the air. Stand next to a wall to hold your balance. When you raise up on the foot that is on the step, exhale with a full calf extension. Inhale on the return. Start with 10 repetitions on each foot, letting the other leg hang in a relaxed position behind the other foot. Inhale on the way down, exhale on the way up. The opposite hand from the wall can be on your hip. Look straight forward, do not bend over or look down.
