Stephanie believes that different design styles and lighting play a crucial role in maintaining a desired mood. She discusses the importance of window treatments, such as blackout curtains for a dark and moody space or sheer blinds for more natural light. Stephanie also emphasizes the significance of clean and comfortable bedding and choosing the right flooring, whether it be cool, warm, or cozy. She highlights the importance of texture in furniture and pillows to create a comfortable space. Stephanie encourages listeners to consider their own preferences and desires when it comes to home decor and invites them to share ideas and questions on her podcast. Hello, my name is Stephanie. Welcome to my podcast. So I'm going to be talking about Home Before on this podcast. I'm very passionate about Home Before. I remember going to a hotel and it's a holiday interview besides. I went to the hotel and as soon as I opened the door, I just felt so welcome. I felt so at home. You know, there's something about the bedding, there's something about the window, there's something about the window cover, and there's something about the lighting. There's something about the flooring. Oh my gosh. I couldn't pinpoint what it really was, but it was just this luxury feeling that I felt in that hotel. The bedding was so warm and just clean and fresh smell, you know. And I just began to think as I relaxed in the hotel, I'm like, how do you incorporate this feeling? How do you get this feeling in your home? Because you're going to be in your home all the time. You're in your home 24 7. So how do you get this beautiful feeling outside of your house? Well, inside of your house, you know, you don't have to spend money because when we go to the hotel, we're paying based on the number of days. So how can I live with this kind of feeling forever? So when I did some research and study, I just realized that you have different styles of design. You have different mood that you would love to create. And that exact mood that I saw in that hotel was everything I wanted to create. Everything. So I decided to go with rustic chic because rustic chic is something that just spells out my style design because it has that heaviness. I'm more of a traditional slash contemporary person. So I love a little bit of modern items, but then I love traditional things, heavy items. So a heavy drippery carpet, window treatment. I love the heavy furniture. You know, thicker walls that keep the sound in. So I thought I'd learn how to create these spaces and just be able to understand what exactly makes you to be able to keep maintaining those moods or those environments that we find in a hotel. And I learned about lighting. Lighting is an essential part of keeping a mood. You know, you have to decide, what is the lighting that I want to wake up to? What light do I want to get up to? Do I want to wake up to something so bright, just instantly wake me up like that? Or something gradually, you know, something that gradually wakes me up that I even have to look outside to see what it is doing. Or I just want something bright in my face. If you're going for a clear window treatment, like a roller blinds or something, that's fine. But you have to know if it's adjustable. Is it adjustable? Is it a blind that just brings me all the natural light? Or is it something that you have to kind of adjust to get all of that natural light? Or do you want to go in for blackout curtains? I am a blackout curtain girl. I'd rather have it all dark in my room and then open the window to see the daylight out. That's something that you want to go for to get enough rest, enough sleep. You can go in for that. You have to know the size of your window. You have to be able to measure how long is your window because of the beauty of blackout curtains. It should be able to cover every inch of the window in order to be able to block out all that light to give a dark, moody space. So that's the beauty of a blackout curtain. Or you're just somebody who wants to go in for something blurry. You just want to go in for a simple sticker that you can just grab off Amazon and just cover your window glasses with it to give a blurred, a blurred, a fake mood, a fake covering to your window just for a little bit of privacy. But you want to have all that natural light. It's totally fine. Is it going to give you that mood that you like? Is it going to give you, is it going to add to your taste of luxury? You can go in for it. And what about your, your bedding? Because it plays an essential role into how sleep, how well, much of a sleep we get. If you, if you have a silky or, or soiled bedsheet, you're not going to be able to get a good sleep. But your bedsheet is all clean and fresh snow, you know, something that you can grab your bed and just hold your pillows and get enough sleep. That's something you gotta, you gotta be able to create. You've got to be able to maintain that to give such an inviting, inviting bed, a warm bed that you can jump into. Um, let's talk about flooring. You want to wake up to, to bare feet, like a cool, to cool floor? Or you want to wake up to a warm rock underneath your feet when you're dead? Something that is not going to just, you know, give you an intense shock when you just put your feet on the ground. Or you want to feel something soft, something cozy, something fluffy, you know, something warm, something wooly. And it's that kind of strong sense of luxury and care. You know, do you want to feel that when you get up? These are all the things that comes with, all the things that come with, uh, home decor. You got to be able to tell me what do you want to, what do you want to wake up to? What do you want to come into? If you leave a hard job of work, do you want to come to a bright orange color? It's a bright green color. Or you want to come to something soothing, like a bra, like a, like a nice brass color, a nice bronze door, something that just, I don't know, classic brown, marble tile. Do you want to come into that space that just gives a sense of relaxation? Or you want to come to an overwhelming space to, to waking your mood, to watch your family, whatever works for you. That's the beauty of home decor. You got to find whatever works for you. If you're having a movie night, do you want to have some cozy blanket? Or you just want to, um, you just want to put a sweater on? You got to look for the texture of those blankets. How does that make them, how does this, those blankets make you feel? Do they make you feel warm? Or they're irritating, or they're on your skin and you feel like there's something, there's something that shouldn't be on you, on you. Do you want to get those feelings? Or you want to feel something nice and soft, something comforting? You know, that's the beauty of home decor, what really works for you. And we'll talk about texture. What do you want to feel? What do you want to feel when you lay your hands on your couch? How do you want to feel when you lay your hands on your couch? Do you want to feel something rough, something so artificial? Or you want to feel something soft, something that you can barely tell that it's a cloth? You know, um, do you want to go in for, for cheaper pillows that can barely make you rest in your bed? Or you want to go in for something that barely feels like a pillow? You can just calmly rest on, and have a good night's sleep. You know, all of those things play an essential role into how your room or your space feels. And that's one thing I learned about home decor, and I'm just so grateful, you know, that I have this information, and be able to, to develop those spaces. Like, let's see, are there any expensive hotels into my, into my home? I don't know, what about you? What do you want for your home? What do you want to come to? What do you want to feel? How do you want to live your life? Do you want to live a life of comfort with less money? Or you want to keep going out there just to feel luxury that you can live with for the rest of your life? So again, my name is Stephanie. Um, this is my podcast, and I would love for you to come in. I would love to hear what you get to say. What are your questions? What are some ideas that we can all share on our home decor? It was nice talking to you, and I look forward to talking to you next. Bye.
