In this podcast episode, the host interviews Stefan, a big football fan from Munich, Germany. Stefan talks about his love for football, which began with his father being a Bayern Munich fan. He also mentions how he used to listen to radio broadcasts of games and played football as a child. Stefan discusses the football scene in Munich, with Bayern Munich being the dominant club and 1860 Munich being a smaller club. He also compares it to the situation in Warsaw, where there used to be two clubs but now there is only one. Stefan talks about his favorite football memories, including attending matches and his experience at the World Cup final in Germany. He also shares his thoughts on Bayern Munich's best players and their dominance in recent years. The conversation shifts to travel, with Stefan discussing his experiences in different countries, including Japan and Africa. He talks about cultural differences and the impact of traveling on one's view of the world. The podcast episode ends Hello there and welcome to the first episode of my yet unnamed podcast. My first guest today is Stefan. Stefan is from Munich, Germany and as you're about to find out, he's a big football fan. Let's start. Hello Stefan, how are you? Good, good, hello, very well. First thing I would like to talk about is football because fun fact it's actually the first time I've seen you was in an online call last year when we were seeing the, no almost two years ago, seeing the old flat and the first thing I noticed were Bayern Munich shirts in the background. Yes. So it was very clear that you're very much into football. So how did it start like the fascination? Naturally I would say probably through my dad. He was always a Bayern fan so I kind of grew up with it I guess. Yeah I don't know like back in the day when you were still listening to radio. Something you probably don't even know anymore and yeah there's like this channel where they basically go through all the all the games and yeah it's just like radio reporting. Then obviously I also played a lot as a child but I never was like in a club or anything because I just wanted to play and didn't want to listen to anyone tell me what to do. So yeah. And Munich has always been like one club city because right now it feels like it's like one club city. Yeah there's like actually I mean there's something well now I don't even list anymore but there's like two big clubs one is Bayern, well Bayern Munich and then the other one is like 1860 Munich which is like a lot smaller club which is actually more probably originally more like the Munich sub but when I was young they were both still in the first league and there was like good derbies and I kind of missed them because it's always super good atmosphere. So yeah but now they're like third league. There's also lots of like trauma around like they have like some investor even but I think completely mismanaged so yeah it's good times. It's kind of similar to Warsaw because in Warsaw there also used to be two clubs but then one got like regulated like a few divisions down because of some serious scandal so it's also like it used to be like there used to be like this boundary like one borough would be for Legia the other would be for Polonia and right now it's like yeah not the case which I think was kind of fun. It is very very much fun but yeah I don't know maybe not such a thing today anymore where like all the big clubs are like so much money in them and then it's just the big clubs competing. Like for example Bayern Dortmund thing like Der Klassiker a bunch of like 10 years ago it wasn't a thing right and no one cared about Bayern against Dortmund so yeah like many years back there's like more traditional net shops like Bayern Gladbach and it was like in 70s 80s big rivalry. But the Der Klassiker I think I feel like it's also kind of because El Clasico was such a big thing so every major European league wanted to have its own El Clasico so they would like force some narratives. Yes it is a total brand thing right like sell Bundesliga but yeah I mean these days it's like the atmosphere like you get these days when Bayern gets almost like that it's just so good like especially when it was like super close like in 11-12 and 12-13 like I get so emotional it's mad. But also especially Borussia has like very interesting scene because it's like extremely tall so it's like almost like a wall of people. Yeah it is like I'm not sure which side it is but it is a wall of people and I totally want to go there like not to a Bayern game obviously but not be wise but I know like a bunch of people who just went to like I don't know Mönchengladbach and then they went in there and I think the atmosphere must be super good and that's what it taught me as well so I think it's something I would definitely want to do. Because it's just one it has one of the highest attendance. Yeah like 80,000. But also like the percentage wise like it's almost always full. Yeah but I think that's the case for like almost all German stadiums like Italian is very good like even for like shit clubs like people just like to go there and support the club. So what was the first match you attended like? I definitely remember yeah it was Bayern Stuttgart not exactly sure which season I think it was 98, 99, 1-1. Yeah still remember I was not happy obviously. Okay so like a small piece. Yeah it was like 8 or 9. Yeah definitely I mean originally I collected like and I still have them I think like I you know like I kept all the tickets um so yeah that was the first game. Remembered Olympiastadion in Munich very good. And like that's the first one but do you have like a clear match you'd say you would say that was the most emotional like a moment because that's I for me that's the best thing about Fulda it's like a very like moment centric. I mean I have a couple obviously but actually not sure whether whether that's any of the early ones my all-time like I went to the World Cup final in Germany so that was obviously like I don't know for what reason but I was a big Zidane fan so obviously with all the drama at the final I was crying I was like it was it was mad so yeah I mean obviously the whole experience I think I'll never forget that. One thing actually which people in this country you know like the when Germany lost against England 5-1 I was there as well and I mean the game was obviously completely unimportant yeah I guess I was not happy but for Germans these days obviously completely irrelevant but for British people here they still have like t-shirts and everything. What else I mean I remember a couple like Dortmund games yeah but at this point they've been also there was yeah one one I think it was probably the last derby when like Bayern met the other Munich club in the in the cup and that's the only possibility where they can still meet and that was like I said it's just always super emotional it's been been a few good ones. You mentioned the World Cup final yeah I actually remember like for some reason I remember this World Cup very well but I was like this World Cup final I had like what seven years but I remember that I was like for the World Cup finals like supporting Italy but the only reason I did that because my childhood friend said he wanted France to win so it's like yeah to make it like emotional but for whatever reason in the arcade you still got extremely invested in it so I remember when they're like the penalty shootout in at the end yeah it was it was like a roller coaster of a final especially like for Zidane because he retired after that right it was like an undefeated retirement so I mean he could have been a hero especially like because when they won against Brazil early on he is it was like his mastercard yeah so he went from hero like from the very top to a guy that couldn't hold his neck but then realistically probably without him they would have never gotten to the final yeah but no one yeah but no one cares about that but yeah but I wonder like how much oh yeah he was like the legend forever but also how much is like everything but also like Fabrizio was like for the Italian badger I think he had like that he was like back in the day like guy that missed the penalty okay and yeah it was it was very emotional about it one more question regarding football I'm actually very curious about it's like top five Bayern players of all time that you say it's like a very tricky one yeah I mean there's obviously like the probably like clear ones which I never saw playing like Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer but I never really saw those playing but I mean yeah my childhood heroes one was always Oliver Kahn and I just loved the guy he he gets so mad and he's like so into what he does and he is just like full power and yeah like Liz what he does so I mean that always badass slash gangsta kind of player like you like he would either be villain for people or your hero or your hero yeah that was like a nice thing about football from some time ago that there were more players like yeah more characters yeah less kind of PR okay so Neuer or Nambi? I mean he's also like at this point he's a total legend yeah exactly totally I mean the other like old school guy Giovane Elber I'm not sure whether you know like he was like a Brazilian guy he was kind of like the first striker who I was a fan of he was like classical Brazilian guy you know like dribble and stuff that's just a fan like I mean people of my generation they still know him. Thomas Müller? I mean Müller is probably completely underrated because like stats wise like with football there's all these players like Müller for example who has been playing on like top level for like 10 years plus right he probably never had the like I mean he's not the most technical but he just played on such a high level for a very long time so definitely belongs there. There's all these other names like Schweinsteiger, Lahm. Lahm was also a long-time captain right for Bayern and Germany. For me one thing that was like the most interesting about Thomas Müller because like when you watch him like you don't see like you cannot see why he's a top player for such a long time but he just gets stuff done. Yes yeah he's like a total team player he's like not shiny at all. But also I know like one explanation from another like ex football player that someone made was that he's the best at understanding space someone said that like he knows where to be right because you don't have to be the fastest if you are just where you need to be. That's that's what people say yeah which is probably true like he is yeah he's smart I guess so he plays more with his brains than with his feet I guess. It also seems like a guy that does a lot of like locker room work in a sense of. Yeah also like I think if you look at the stats like at the World Cup 2014 when Germany won like he ran the most for example so he is like pressing a lot up front which is something I don't know Messi probably doesn't do. Very unorthodox striker like for example when they were playing with Bayern like with Lewandowski technically both of them were strikers but very different kind of players. But I think what you often see is that Müller plays the best when he has someone like Lewandowski up front as well. Executioner. Yeah exactly because he assists very good at assisting and creating space so yeah and he's a very good player as well. Hard to give a top five but yeah. Okay so you've been following Bayern for like 25 years at this point right? Probably yeah. So throughout all these years if you had to pick the best iteration of Bayern like the most impressive one? It was probably like the 2013 generation. I mean also it's again it's hard to say because I was emotionally very invested but the results I guess speak for themselves like winning the treble and it's just very good like the midfield with Martínez also very underrated player at the time but him and Schweinsteiger which is so good and then we had Robben obviously. It was just like the time that because quite often Bayern would not be teamed to have like big big players and that's like one of the times that it was actually star-sparked teams. Yeah definitely definitely. Like I was never a biggest fan of Robben but he was like the classical big game player. Whenever there was a big game he turned up he ran like 100 meters solo and scored the winning goal. Like he was a total big game player. But he's also kind of like similar to when we were talking about Zidane and World Cup final like his final like very very famous one-on-one with Casillas and Casillas defended in like just like a heel or something. Oh yeah he probably still dreams of that. But what about Bayern 2020? I think that because of Covid and lockdown it changed the narrative but like if you see like the level of dominance in which they won the Champions League. They totally trust Barcelona. They totally trust Tottenham. Also like they were just dominating everyone like there would be no lockdown and normal season This would be one of the most impressive ones. That is that's probably true. Yeah it's a bit tough one. Like Knapri that season was just playing so good like right now he's like subtle shit right. There were no scores like that season. In Poland people were like why didn't he get a Ballon d'Or? Yeah I mean I don't know. It's a bit hard to judge. Also only one leg I think in the end. Yeah like even Tottenham and Barcelona only one match. Yeah it changed sort of in terms of like narrative. But also like for Hansi Flickert it was kind of... Yeah it was also very impressive but it was just yeah like you say weird times and it all happened so fast that it's yeah it was weird in the end. But they were probably also very good yeah. Hard to say what happened since then but lots of play out of form now I guess. Have you ever been to like away matches like away like? Yeah I went to a couple here actually. I went against Arsenal against Tottenham. But you were living here at the time. Yeah I never did like go to the bus and no I never did that. I mean that's quite a big commitment but it's probably not the fun. Yeah but so not only here in London. So you didn't like travel to see them? No no no. You traveled a lot around the world right? Like when you're talking like when doing the capital cities. I remember it's like numerous places in Africa and stuff like that. Yeah I guess also comes from my dad like oh well like my parents like we were traveling quite a bit when we were young already. I mean even my grandmother like she was already traveling quite a bit even when she was still older. You know she was like going on group trips and yeah my dad was traveling a lot like personally and for work as well. So we did it a lot in our childhood like this one other family which we were always traveling a lot with. I mean yeah like my sister's still traveling a lot I'm still traveling a lot so yeah kind of continued was always a thing. Would you say that like traveling especially to like further away places when you're like a small kid strongly affects you in terms of view of the world like understanding of the world? Probably yeah. I mean it's always hard to say like it's not like you lived there for three months right but you still get an idea for how things are. It's kind of brought it to your horizon. Yeah definitely. Back after a technical break. Yes I was like it definitely broke your horizon. It also like funnily enough actually like confirms lots of stereotypes which are just there in different nations. Yeah it maybe makes you more accepting but it's you know it can be interesting experience. Also when it's like you know like it shows you that like many things are just you know like cultural standards and they might be completely different in different cultures. Kind of like oh yeah here it's completely acceptable to that axe but in this other culture it's completely not acceptable. So yeah it's funny. Do you have like a memory of what was like the most new new thing like in terms of cultural differences? It's hard but like Japan is very interesting in that regard like I think lots of cultural standards are just very interesting or like very different there and interesting at the same time. I don't know like that when you lose tip they run after you with the tip they left you left because it's just not a thing. Then also we're like traveling on this train and this other family we always traveled with. They're like doctors and they always have like all kinds of stuff with them you know like stitch you up and then like one of the daughters like she cut herself with like a pocket knife and then the father like on the train like life stitched her back together. It's just so funny because like here I would expect like when people walk by and see that they would ask oh do you need help with anything and there you can literally see like everyone who was walking by seeing it and then look away and continue walking because the costs like so different there like you don't want to lose pace and it's probably also like also I was surprised like how bad like the English is there from people like even like younger people. I mean these days it's like 10 years later it's probably already a lot better but yeah I was like shocked how little English people speak. It's probably like you know as globalization goes on changing and changing but it's definitely interesting experience there. Like you've been in Africa, you've been in Asia, have you been to like South America as well? Yeah so I went to well I mean I went to Guatemala which is more like Central America which is super cool I really enjoyed that. That's all super nice like backpacking and stuff I think or just as part of a group maybe less like backpacking going on a bus kind of thing. I went to like Chile and Argentina which is super good for backpacking I think like you can take just the bus and get everywhere. Chile especially I think because it's I think the safest country in itself. It could well be like there when I was in Santiago, Chile it was actually not so safe because there was like all these unrests and this is the first time when I think where I felt tear gas. It wasn't bad but like it's weird because like when I was there it was like there was the unrest but it was not like super active and but apparently what I learned is that tear gas like I think it's heavier than air so it stays around and so sometimes you just walk somewhere and suddenly your eyes start tearing because there's still tear gas there but you obviously don't see it. So yeah but I think it's probably super safe like and then also when you get out there like I never felt in danger or anything so yeah that's definitely very good. What countries in Africa? Yeah so I mean I went to South Africa a couple times actually my dad really liked it there. It depends like South Africa you can like the country is just so beautiful and then you can also go on safari and stuff and then if you're into it and want to like chill more you can just go into an Hawaiian yard and stay there and then from there do a couple of day trips, rent a car like that's super easy as well. Yeah although that's nice it's probably like less kind of like backpacking kind of thing. So that maybe like go to Namibia and that you can like easily travel the whole country which is quite nice as well. At the end of the day I think it's worth going everywhere once at least, experience it and if you like it go back again if not don't have to don't have to like everything. You mentioned Japan, Korea, have you been to Korea? No I haven't been to Korea. I want to go there. Japan is definitely worth going there, traveling there again it's just very interesting experience and again it's also super safe and super not sure whether it's the easiest traveling because again like the language barrier is definitely there but it is definitely worth going there. I'm not sure if that's the case in Japan but one thing interesting about Korea like you mentioned like cultural differences it's like how big game you can express is there. I'm not sure if that's the case in Japan but like in Korea you have like all these like cafes where people go and play. I think less the esport aspect but you obviously have the whole Nintendo everything right like all of it comes from there like you have what they are a lot into is like gambling slot machines but I mean I find it a bit boring but if you like the Pokemon or whatever then yeah there's like full like streets where every shop is like a gaming shop or like Pokemon cards you like all the kind of stuff which is obviously there and yeah also I mean Tokyo is a massive city right so you have everything you mentioned esports. You started following esports in lockdown or like it was because yes yeah I was made to follow it well a bunch of people started playing Age of Empires too because I think definitive edition came out yeah it came out in 2019 so it must have been beginning of 2020. Esports got active and I mean I knew like I would get addicted because I was very addicted when I was young and was playing all the time. Guilt was, I played a lot of Guilt Wars. Yeah like massive amounts and yeah then I mean Nausicaa has happened I mean the other day wasn't much of an issue because you couldn't do much else anyway so might as well Age of Empires and then it was actually quite good or funny because like lots of my German friends also started playing so like during Covid when everyone was sitting at home like in the evenings we were playing quite a bit and it was good because like that you stay together and stay in contact and when everyone doesn't do anything anyway it was quite a good way I think. Yeah I think many people don't realize how effective online games can be to stay in touch with your friends. I had a friend like from secondary school that I would like stay in contact all over high school mostly because we used to like play games from time to time with me but especially during lockdown when like no other options. Yeah yeah definitely. I mean also like when I was younger and I played Guild Wars like you meet people right from TeamSpeak and I mean you literally hang out with them all day on TeamSpeak and talk shit but yeah then we also met in real life and it's definitely not as bad as everyone makes it sound but yeah. But you also started like following Counter-Strike more recently? Yeah. Do you play more or watch more? I mean I would like to play more I don't know why. It's funny because I never like Counter-Strike was always a big thing right but I was never really into it. I could play like Battlefield before I played Guild Wars but I don't really know why I like it so much now but it's just like a super simple game right. You don't well I mean you probably do need to understand a lot but you can just watch it and you know like if you survive you probably win right. It's like very easy to understand so it's super easy to watch and probably like less fun to play yourself. I don't know like the matchmaking is just so bad like there's so many like smurf accounts like people who create new accounts and then just play and then like completely destroy you. It's a bit harder I guess. Also you always play as part of a team right which that's like if you just play on your own there's this whole aspect of the game which you're not really experiencing. I think like the team aspect like doing things as a team in Counter-Strike is probably bigger than in Age of Empires but it's also certainly like team game specific skills but I think Counter-Strike is so much more because you have like all these different like strategies of like how you start, who does what and in Age of Empires in that regard probably easier to or like simpler to play as a team. The communication aspect is kind of unique to Counter-Strike to this extent that was the longest straight in Counter-Strike out of all competitive games was to have like single nationality teams because the communication aspect was regarded as that important actually having the same native speakers as your friend like was preferred the first way. Like for me Counter-Strike is basically the ultimate esports game because I used to play League of Legends a lot but when I would not follow it for I know six months and if I would like start to watch again like I would have no idea what's going on because so many new characters get added I know new items everything changes whereas in Counter-Strike I used to play it before uni so a long long time ago and now I could like open up a stream and I know what's going on. So I think it's kind of like it's in a way similar to traditional sports that very big part of people that watch it don't play it which is very unique to esports in general. That's true yeah. These days actually like when I started I became less and less a fan of football because when I started getting into esports I kind of like got more into like you know like what makes a good game like it doesn't matter whether it's like esport or sports whatever like and with football I don't like these days I found it like it's so random right like it's a low scoring game one goal makes such a big difference like you have like a weird hand situation and then it's a pen and then there's one goal and then the game is over. That's why these days I kind of like hate football because it's like such a dumb game but at the same time like I said I'm like 25 years of emotions invested into it that I can't just give up on it but on one side I prefer things like Age of Empires now Counter-Strike where I don't know the game makes more sense it gets balanced more which rarely happens in football right and but at the same time that is why people love football right like you can always still hope there's one penalty and that means a complete shit team can win against Bayern just hope for one pen one counter-attack and then just park the bus defense for the whole game and maybe it will work out like exactly yeah like that is that's just why people love football because and why I guess also why people go and see kind of like their shit team play against Bayern because there is the hope that they might actually win and it definitely has happened many times right so it's a bit like Emling but yeah like even if the game is boring for pretty much the whole time what makes it exciting is like anticipation for potential moment of change it's also what I really like about football is that emotional peak is incredibly high I remember like during Euro 2012 I attended Poland-Russia so I remember like when Waszczykowski scored and 1-1 equalizer like the whole stadium just erupted so it's like game was not very exciting but like this I know like one minute of ridiculous explosion of emotion like even my brother who like he attended it with me he was not really into football even he like like you cannot resist like yeah like such an average so that's what makes football kind of special but yeah like if it sounds like very like analytical kind of stuff that's yeah might be sometimes dull that's true yeah I don't know I mean like that's what I mean like the moment I am in a football stadium I get like super emotional and like in football game you have like referee you also have like all these calls which just even bring more like human error more emotions into the game and into the situation so like in the stadium and like the atmosphere is just like exploding it's just so good that kind of aspect I guess you don't have with esports but I've also never watched like esports live like with Age of Empires they're only now starting to have that again but I think with Counter-Strike it was always big right yeah Counter-Strike is also like also what's good about Counter-Strike is that you have like this peak moments quite like every round brings a lot of emotional like of course when it's like the final round it's like big peak but like you have very little like kind of pause I assume for example in Age of Empires like if nothing happens in the beginning then can be like five ten minutes of just boring kind of like whereas in Counter-Strike everyone throws three minutes and everyone ends with someone winning yeah so that's true you can always like that's why like even if you're because that has always been the problem in League of Legends that like once you would quite often start losing you just get like slowly slowly like you just lose lose and like you know right with Counter-Strike even if you're behind there's like this still clear scenario just just yeah win round after round which is totally doable because you don't have like as many problem like because if you would like accumulate stuff between the rounds then of course you have future future advantage right but you can win like I know two eco rounds of course very hard but if you do it you're back in the game yeah so that that that makes it more interesting in my opinion for viewing at least yes it is definitely true yeah I don't know I like it let's let's see where it goes but um you also like music quite a lot right yeah probably I mean not in like a I'm good musician kind of thing but like I definitely listen to a lot of music I'm not sure when you're addicted to music but uh I listen to a lot of music yeah do you have like a strong preference like there are some people that are like oh life music is that much better like um no not at all actually it feels a bit sad but I sometimes I feel like I don't know life music is kind of shit it depends a bit on the band like I don't know if you go to if you listen to Katy Perry right like I can enjoy a cheesy Katy Perry song in a club or whatever because they're cheesy and they're good tunes but I would never like I don't gain anything from seeing her life and listen to her because she also can't sing which which is fine like I prefer her not being able to sing and still sing live instead of like singing live in autotune but like either way like I would probably rather just go to a club and enjoy the music there than go to a live gig of because the music is just better if played from the computer I guess now that I listen a bit more like to like electronic and DJs kind of thing that's maybe a bit different because the music will kind of like sound as good when you go to a live gig and then the live gig obviously whether you go to like a live gig or like a club you obviously have the whole experience of like the festival which is quite nice right but um I guess in that aspect like DJs have the advantage that they don't have to sing or perform like by hand manually I mean they obviously do perform and it's probably not easy but uh not in the sense that someone has to sing or play an instrument or something like a live band I would like to see live for example Metallica because I think I think they're even though I'm not a big Metallica fan um I think it obviously it's quite a few bangers but I think their live performances are pretty decent I've been to a live Metallica concert actually in because they've been in Warsaw last year a few years back so that was good yeah very very loud of course of course yeah but yeah and that's also like one thing about like going to like you mentioned like going to clubs that play electronic music is that actually when you go to like a venue with good system then like the bass is bass hits you so much more when you're listening it on the headphones that's true yeah also makes a total difference so when you like when you go to a club that most like electronic type of music or like it's very slow yes electronic or you know like not sure what the proper genre is but euro dance you know like cheesy stuff which I just like that I know Belushi's here in London there's a few um it's just very cheesy music good good atmosphere yes um but it's not like the band's dance music right like they also play probably a song of Katy Perry right maybe remixes a little bit before COVID was doing quite a bit now not so much anymore but I should definitely get back into it well I think I'd like to talk it's yeah you're a software engineer like when did you get into like computer stuff depends what you mean by like what computers me I didn't like I had one friend who really got me into computers when I don't know like 13 or 14 or something but at that time I wasn't really into programming it was more like oh I don't know like it actually started like digital cameras and then there's this magazine like computer built in Germany which is like it's just like it's not programming it's like oh there's a computer here's like a test of the 10 different anti-virus softwares and um you have this problem and that's how you fix it kind of stuff so in the beginning I was purely into like computers kind of thing technology yeah and then also you know like overclocking and stuff and gaming and kind of like that whole story but programming I only really got into in university actually yeah so I always was in computers but not really into into my friend actually went back he when he got into technical secondary school like the first thing for him was being minecraft servers admin that's like because like slowly at first you just I know copy files around and something but I know then you want to do like a simple plugin and stuff like that so yeah that was uh that's interesting that's that's how you get started I guess yeah but I don't know I mean I should probably have like I remember there was a moment where I did install like the I don't know what it was visual studio 28 uh uh or something but I never really got into it then um so yeah I did like maybe very little of html but I didn't understand anything so just like at that time education system wasn't like didn't really give up with the idea that technology is a big thing right now it's probably like right now probably kids oh yeah that's kind of forced to the wrong process like exposed to it much earlier yeah like I never did any computer science in high school um so that wasn't a thing for us this is probably hopefully so at least something like excel or something but I hope software engineering right now big topic is child gpt do you think that child gpt is going to replace all software engineers in three years uh no I don't think so I mean at least not if the engine through it I mean I signed up for the um because I tried to be like when they originally released it and like not only for programming but like just like as google replacement right so and I don't know most of the time when I google something it's very specific and it seemed to fail at very specific stuff uh then just gpt4 came out but it's not publicly available right so I signed up for like gct plus uh but it's still I didn't feel like it makes much of a difference I think it's just another tool people will have to use uh and I think that is super valuable like whenever it's about generating something like based on very precise stuff then it's super good like they ask it oh please write me a casca producer in python who writes something casca every two seconds and bam it's there it's like completely perfect it just works and like copying exactly the same example from google would have probably taken longer or writing it myself okay which library do I even need to use like you can find all that on google but you're just slower doing it at the same time if you do the same thing uh with like a library which like some niche c++ library it will generate some code which is complete nonsense or I mean it looks fine but the library functions don't exist um so yeah if you have like a well-known library then it's that's really good I want to try using github copilot more uh because I think that kind of like even if you have like a library which that's not very well known it kind of like looks at the existing codes and can then like generate suggestion based on that I think that is actually quite useful but when I tried it out like toy stuff like traditionally when you code you're like you think oh what do you need to want to write now right and then maybe you think okay I'll just autocomplete and see whether there's like a dot I don't know trim function right well now with gpt it's then more like okay like suggest me some code and then you read the code and then you kind of like have to think is this the code I actually wanted so there you kind of like think after the fact well traditionally we think before the fact which I don't know time will tell uh whether one or the other is better I think it's not a tool people have to use and yeah maybe some jobs will will be automated away like apparently it's also quite good at like analyzing text which I guess is similar to like github copilot but as always I think people who like embrace the technology use it for stuff uh it will help them and those jobs will probably continue to exist one nice use case I've heard of that my friend told me that when he like listens to video on youtube then download the transcript and ask trajectory to like write summary because if you like revision like one paragraph summary otherwise like you have to do the notes himself and stuff like that so yeah less need for mundane work basically yeah exactly exactly in terms of everything is mundane but it's just like everyone in their jobs does mundane parts right and it helps with that it's great it's just another tool making us hopefully more efficient the final topic I want to touch is food do you have favorite cuisines and perhaps favorite restaurants in London um I wouldn't consider myself a foodie um which is the kind of thing I hate a little bit when people on bumble call themselves like a foodie whatever the fuck that means yeah I need food as well but I'm kind of a foodie I do like um I do like Japanese food there's this good restaurant uh called kazoo uh it's a bit more pricey but it's really good like fresh like everything's like super fresh like you know like you have all this shit sushi from like eats or whatever but like it's cold the rice is hard and there's like fresh um seaweed it's crisp the rice is warm how it should be super good also like lemony food uh don't think I have a favorite restaurant for that like as long as as long as it does tabule I think I like it like when you think about childhood do you have like some childhood food kind of um as many people have very different even if they're from the same country it's like always interesting I don't know for me it's like like my mom's spaghetti bolognese it's just something I really love and that was like every Tuesday we had that and I still love it so that I guess is my childhood I'm not sure whether it's very German but uh yeah Munich is not that far from there exactly yeah it's like yeah half half Italian as they like to let us know when they win the world cup so um yeah all right Stefan thank you very much thank you very much for having me it's my first guest so I promised it took a while but here we are have a good day thank you cheers man
