AI Mastering

The podcast discusses the impact of the AI ChatGBT on Generation Z's education, workforce, and employers. Gen Z students use AI for their assignments, but it hinders their learning and can lead to plagiarism. In the workforce, AI-generated art threatens job security, with research suggesting that AI could replace millions of jobs by 2030. The reliance on AI also affects employers, as Gen Z's education may suffer, leading to difficulties in basic tasks like math. However, AI can be beneficial in moderation, such as with Grammarly for writing assistance. The overall message is that AI should be used cautiously and in limited amounts. from Decoding the Future. I'm Decoder Maya. I'm Decoder Sophia. And I'm Decoder Kayla. We've recently gotten a lot of questions about AI. Mostly, the new AI called ChatGBT. So in this podcast, we decided to separate this into three different categories. First, how ChatGBT affects Gen Z's education. Second, how it affects them going into the workforce. And third, how it affects their employers. Since we are part of Generation Z, we know firsthand how it affects us. To start, our education. During COVID-19, using AI got extremely big with Gen Z. I remember this since I was halfway through 7th grade when COVID-19 hit. Everyone was cheating on their assignments. People don't learn from using AI because once we moved on to high school, we had to be retaught a lot from our 7th and 8th grade years. The entire year of algebra in my freshman year was just used to reteach us things from middle school and COVID. Yeah, in one of my classes, someone used ChatGBT for all of their assignments, but after a couple of weeks, their grade got worse and worse, and they ended up getting kicked out of their class altogether. Most people use it because they think it's easier and faster, but AI uses examples from the web to construct the answers. Teachers usually have plagiarism checkers, and since the entire essay is plagiarism, the person will fail, and it becomes even more of a hassle. As Gen Z starts to the workforce, it starts to affect them as employees, not just students. Sophia and I take a class where we learn all of the Adobe programs. There's this new feature that creates an AI-generated piece of art. This is detrimental to everyone in our community. It can put people out of jobs and severely damage people's lives. When I was looking into AI, I saw that research done by Investment Bank Golden Sashes states that AI could replace 300 million jobs by 2030. Many companies could go out of business, and people won't be able to survive in this economy anymore. That means that as the number of jobs decrease, the price of food and housing will rise, making it difficult for people to even pay for their basic needs. It doesn't just infect employees, it infects employers too. Since Gen Z uses AI, it causes their education to stop progressing. Gen Z employees might be unable to do simple things like others, like doing math for change. There is an app called PhotoMath that uses AI to do the math problems for you that I know Generation Z uses. I hear people in our school talking about using PhotoMath every single day. Also, my grandmother complains every time she comes out of a store that the cashiers don't know how to do math anymore. Like Maya's grandmother, I know people who also don't like when cashiers don't know how to do math. This could actually cause too many complaints, and the employer will have to fire their employees. Also, if this keeps happening, the employer may have to shut the store down from being understaffed. They could go out of business and have no income if it's a family business. However, AI can be good, but only used in small doses. Grammarly is technically AI, and our school pays for the Grammarly subscription. On an assignment for my college-level English class, the teacher actually told me to use Grammarly. Also, one of our friends had to create a resume for their co-op job, and their shop teacher actually told them to make a template using ChatGPT and replace it with his own information. Ultimately, we have found that AI is not the new best thing, nor does it help anyone in the long run. AI is only good when it is used in moderation, like spellcheck or to create a template.
