Engineering requires a range of skills, especially for electrical engineers. Many students drop out due to the level of preparedness required. The speaker plans to take prerequisite classes seriously to be prepared and avoid dropping out. However, even after taking classes, they need to have the right mindset and build proficiency in the necessary skills. What are some additional skills I'll need? So engineering in general requires people to be very efficient at a certain amount of skills. As a want-to-be electrical engineer, I will be committing myself to a profession full of development and testing of our world's viable electric devices. Therefore, being able to handle these types of things will mean I must have a skill set necessary to understand everything. It is not surprising that many engineering students drop out due to the sheer level of preparedness needed for this difficult major. So I plan to take my studies seriously in my prerequisite classes before I ever begin the real work. That way I can be prepared and less likely to drop out of this major.
