Nothing to say, yet
The Carolina Panthers have been banned from Monday Night Football for the next three years. The speaker discusses the term "lamping" and its meaning. They also talk about the Panthers' offensive struggles and lack of wide receivers. The speaker expresses doubts about the team's chances of winning and questions their quarterback development. They mention upcoming games against tough opponents and express concerns about the team's future. Yep, wait, I'm going to count down, 4, 3, what's wrong? Well, I'm not saying nothing now. Should I be doing something different? No, I didn't. 4, 3, 2, 1. For the Carolina Panthers officially being banned from Monday night football for the next three years, this is throw-up tackle presented by Forkast.Media. Forkast.Media. That's where I am. I'm sorry you're watching. That's where it's at. LJ, on location. You say on location. On location. Shout out to LJ. What was the term he used? What is lamping? Lamping. He was going to be somewhere. Lamping. What does that mean? Lamping is an old 90s East Coast word. It means when you're standing on the street corner, right? Lamping. I don't know if that's what he knows in that language. But that's what he used to say back in the day. Lamping. Because you're standing on the street corner, right? That's the hip-hop. Man, you know, this is the Carolina edition, so I'll just go ahead and say this. No, I'm going to say this. People from the Carolinas will understand what I'm about to say. Back where I'm from, it was routine for people of a certain profession, gentlemen, to just, you know. They were just outside at the corner all day. That's just what they did. So when you phrase it that way, that's what I envisioned it as. You know, supply and demand. So that's what I understood the term to be. So when he said it, I was just like, I don't know what he's talking about. Yeah, that's what I meant. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant. Oh, okay. Okay. I hope. I hope. That that's not what he meant. Yeah. So, Carolina fans, what was he talking about? Yuck. Hey, shout-out to YouTube TV. I made the switch over after DirecTV lost the NFL Sunday ticket package. And, you know, I hope they realize my loyalty was to the NFL and not to DirecTV, because I was going wherever the NFL package was going. And YouTube TV has this feature where you can watch multiple games at once and control and control it yourself. And boy, oh boy, having that Brown Steelers game right next to that Panthers Saints game. Let you know. Everybody's going to need to be on primetime, man. Like, we don't have we don't have to be equitable about this. Like, we only need to see like eight teams in primetime. And we're okay with that. Bryce Young? Yeah. The reason why they do it is we get it. You can't put the Chiefs, the Cowboys, the Eagles, the 49ers. You can't put them on every week. But but at the same time. But I was going to say at the same time, you could put them on every week. Like, but the one advantage is you did get to see both games side by side. And both games were sloppy. But focusing specifically on a Panther Saints game. The Panthers got a lot of issues on the offensive side of the ball. I know we talked a little bit about like their receiver situation. But my thing is Bryce. It don't seem like he really can get them the ball right now. And then Miles Fanders tried. But I mean, the running game don't look good either. Who's the OC? Is McCown the OC? So Frank Wright's calling the plays. I mean, you say that, but at the same time, like look at what the Dolphins are doing with Mike McDaniel. Mike McDaniel was not the play caller in San Francisco. But that didn't mean he didn't know how to call plays. Because he's calling them just fine in Miami. Right, right, right. I just think that he's an interesting kid. And if you recall, I would say that when he was younger, this is a three-year-old kid. Three. Because the offensive set was not going to be good enough. You have to look at quarterbacks. And you don't have any wide receivers. Not one wide receiver. Well, I mean, it's not for lack of trying. So in terms of targets, the majority of the targets went to wide receivers in terms of the passing game. It's not like they're doing the whole check down, dump off game. He had nine attempts to Adam Thielen. Adam Thielen caught seven of those attempts. He had eight attempts to Jonathan Mingo. That's where we have an issue. Because he only caught three. Now, I don't know how much of that is on Bryce. And how much of that is on separation. But they are at least trying to throw the ball. Well, it was a close game the whole time. So I'm thinking the logic is we're not going to try to push the ball downfield if we don't have to. But that's not winning football. Winning football is not play it safe, hope the defense bails us out. Which is what they were trying to do. Winning football is let's try to go out here and score. The Panthers were in that game late into that game. And then a Taysom Hill run. I surprised, surprised he's still there. Like that ended the game pretty much. And then you look at their next couple of weeks. You got Seahawks, L. Vikings, probably a L. Lions, Lions, L. Dolphins, L. So now you're going to be 0-6 before what probably will be originally deemed to be like highlight games for Bryce Young. But these are going to be high pressure games because you're going to go against CJ Stroud one week, Anthony Richardson the next week, Justin Fields the week after that. So these are all the guys like in your class or the class before you that you were going to be compared to. And so you might come out of that with no wins. Correct. But they also could. That's what I'm saying. They also could have drafted them. They also could have drafted them too. To your point, CJ Stroud this week, albeit against the Colts and they lost the game, but CJ Stroud threw for almost 400 yards this week. Because he can. But they're also calling the plays in such a way that gives them the opportunities to do those things. He ain't throwing the Nico Collins. He ain't throwing the Adam Thielen. Adam Thielen is not a, he's a chain mover. He ain't somebody who's going to go out and make explosive plays. The Panthers don't have that person. They had it, but then they traded DJ Moore. I would feel a lot better about the Panthers if DJ Moore was still there, but they don't have him. So now it's yuck. It's a lot of yuck. And I'm look, you said three wins. I'm really looking at the Panthers. I don't see three. I'm trying to figure out where you're going to get these three wins from. Like they're going to have to beat the Texans and Colts like those are the things like these are the types of games they're going to have to win. And I don't they don't have to beat the Titans by that time. They may have moved on with their quarterback situation because Ryan Tannehill looked like boo boo. They might go 0-6 in division. The Buccaneers look good. The Falcons look competent. They just lost to the Saints. Like what a, it's bad. And then where do you go from here? Because you don't have your draft pick. What is the plan? To what? At what? Yeah. That is a basketball game. They got good players. They are going to look good. They're going to let you do what you want to do. Yeah. And I think everybody understands that. I think the problem is you want to be able to at least sell some level of hope. And if you are in Charlotte or you are a Panthers fan in general, like what are you hopeful about? If I'm a Panthers fan, the number one thing I want to see is my quarterback getting better. And the way that they are operating right now is not going to help my quarterback get better. We know we don't have all of the pieces we need to be a playoff team. But right now what I am seeing is I saw Bryce Young look a lot better at Alabama. And it's not like he was on like one of those Alabama teams that Matt Jones was on where you just had superstars everywhere. Or that Tua was on where you had superstars everywhere. Bryce Young's Alabama team was on the downside of Alabama. But he probably had better receivers at Alabama. Why wouldn't you hire the pre-rookie there? Well, that's not going to get carried away. Why? That's not going to have a lot of change to Alabama. That's true. But what we have seen in the NFL is quarterbacks have a lot more success when they have offensive coaches. And so when you have offensive minded coaches, that's been a trend in the league for years. You need an offensive minded coach to really develop your quarterback. And that was probably their rationale for why they went with Frank Reink over Steve Wolfe. Probably not. But I mean, maybe. Because here's the problem. Nobody was going to be there at night and you didn't have a quarterback. No, no, Mario. You saw Sam Donald last year. You thought we saw Sam Donald. You got to realize. Here's the issue with that logic. You had Matt Rule there with Sam Donald and was Baker there last year? Baker was there last year at the beginning, right? So Sam Donald didn't beat out Baker Mayfield in the offseason. Baker was there in week one. Well, you see why? Baker out here winning games in Tampa. Well, I'm going to give you a list of quarterbacks who have had success with those same receivers in Tampa. Jameis Winston threw 30 touchdowns to those receivers. Now he did up. He also threw 30 interceptions, but he was balling. You better check your stats. Then they bring in what a lot of people thought to be a washed Tom Brady who won a Super Bowl with those same receivers. And now we see Baker Mayfield with those same receivers looking competent. Maybe it's to your point from last week, some of the talent around him. Because Bryce don't have that. Bryce has Adam Thielen as his number one receiver right now. Adam Thielen, who was discarded by the Minnesota Vikings. They didn't want him no more. Yeah, and SLO. Oh. Oh, yeah, that too. On the road. I'm going to say this for the sake of argument. It ain't like the Seahawks have been looking great. I mean, you know, they can go out and be competitive. But I think that would be a massive upset if they were to pull it off. Like, that's not a game that the Seahawks really need to lose, especially since they came out week one and got washed by the Rams. So I don't think that the Panthers are going to win that game. But it is not something that, you know, it should be doom and gloom in Charlotte about. Really? I mean, let's let's let's understand the Seahawks was they they had to come back and they almost blew that lead against the Lions. Like the Lions, like took the lead in the fourth quarter. Seattle. Correct. Correct. Correct. Correct. Yeah, those same lines. But I mean, at the same time, you know, this is also Seattle team was a playoff team last year. I don't know what Seattle team we're going to get from week to week. That's the issue. I know what Panthers team we're going to get from week to week. They're going to be cheeks. So like that, I know. But if Seattle comes out here and you know, they don't take the Panthers seriously, they like to catch them slipping. But you don't have to win some games. You ain't going to keep your job winning two games, Frank. They ain't going to happen. So another team that a lot of people are trying to figure out is the Clemson Tigers. And Clemson lost the first game of the season to the Seahawks. And they've won both games since. Well, their next two games are Charleston Southern and Florida Atlantic. Let's not. They ain't played nobody. Besides the point, man. How does that drop you out of the top of your game? Well, other teams have beat people. Yeah, but I mean, this is what this comes down to the Clemson. Clemson don't need to worry about none of that. They don't need to worry about none of that because Clemson is fully in control of their own destiny. Like you can come out here. You beat Florida State and then you can go on a run. You'll play a few ranked teams. Miami's in the top 25. Notre Dame's out here in the top 25. North Carolina's in the top 25. You know you got the rivalry game at the end of the year. If you are Clemson and you run the table, this is what you have to be telling yourself if you're Clemson. We go out here and run the table. We should still be in the college football playoffs. We can always say, hey, they caught us slipping week one. People do that all the time. So should Clemson be in the top 25? I don't know. But if they win this week, they'll be right back in the mix. I don't know. Are they going to be really good? They got the transfer fee. But from what you just said, if you did ball out against LSU, I don't know. But I think they're a little bit over it. I think Clemson's going to win. I don't know. Why does Davis want to lose on Saturday? I have no clue. But go ahead and get it out the way. I think Clemson will win. I think Clemson will win this. Well, if you're in college football, you've got to stack your schedule. You've got to make sure that people are watching TV all day. You've got Alabama Ole Miss at 3.30. So that's going to get some eyeballs. You've got the big game at night, Ohio State and Notre Dame. That's the game of the week. That's going to be at 7.30. So you figure out a way to. Yeah, that too. So, yeah, ain't nothing wrong with the 12 o'clock game for Florida State and Clemson. Probably all eyeballs will be on that game. I don't think there's a better game on in that time slot. My thing is for Clemson is this is the number one question you have to ask yourself. Is our quarterback any good? Is our quarterback any good? He's the reason y'all lost week one. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I haven't seen him since week one. But last I heard, he was looking good. And neither has Clemson. Clemson ain't played nobody either. But they've done what they're supposed to do against nobody. Like, that's the thing. Cleveland came out here and he's playing against nobody. He's playing against nobody. Like, you know, you get yourself back together before the big Florida State game. I like Clemson in this spot. I think this is a game, like you said, this is a game Clemson should win. This is a game Clemson should win. I don't care about the rankings. These are preseason rankings. They don't really count until college football playoff ranking start. This is a game that Clemson should win. I don't care about the rankings. This is a game that Clemson should win if you are who you say you are. With the amount of talent that they have on that team, this is a game you're supposed to win. But if you don't win, dabble. Especially if y'all look bad or the seat get hot. The seat gotta get hot. Well, you gotta look at the totality of the ACC. If they knock off Florida State, they knock off the number one team in the ACC right now. And then who's your next top competition? It's gotta be North Carolina and Miami who are in the hunt right now. And Clemson has to play both of those teams. So, like I said before, Clemson is fully in control of their own destiny. But can I talk about that team in Columbia real quick? No, I will say this. This is where the pressure on dabble starts. I think Beamer's only about a year away. They're about a year away. But listen to me. Y'all are a year away still. Y'all got so carried away, Gamecock fans, in the first half of that Georgia game. And everybody who's not a Gamecock fan knew how that was going to end. Like, y'all are a year away. Gamecock fans knew how that was going to end. Like, y'all. Yeah, but they usually play them down to the end. They played them tough by half. Yeah. What is going on here? This is not the way that this is supposed to go. Well, quiet is kept. Quiet is kept. When dabble took over and he started paying people, one of the things that they really leaned heavily into was getting recruits out of Georgia and Florida. Like, that's been the game. Like, I think South Carolina. Everybody always talks about big brother, little brother. Like, South Carolina has always been big brother in that rivalry. Like, in terms of who's the most popular team in the state. And that's just not something Clemson fans want to hear. But the issue is South Carolina has always had to play tougher competition. Therefore, Clemson has had more opportunities to have more success. Now, when they play each other, that's a different story. But the recruits in the state are more attracted to South Carolina. The recruits nationally have been more attracted to Clemson. So, you don't necessarily have to win South Carolina if you're a Clemson. But you do have to get the talent in. But even if you look at the last few years, if you look at where, like, the Mr. Football for the state of South Carolina goes, they've still been going to South Carolina. The problem is, South Carolina, like, one of them is De'Carrion Joyner, and they moved him from quarterback to running back. The next one is, I believe, the third string quarterback at South Carolina right now. Yeah, like the Heisman. Well, like the Heisman used to be. I think the Heisman isn't that way as much anymore because there is, like, more national media involved. But that used to just be a regional award. And I'm sure Mr. Football is very similar. It's like your votes are going to go to the teams you cover. Like, that's how most awards go in media. But, you know, that's behind the curtain media talk. That's for our media podcast. I know you can't. I know you can't. You're not a voter, are you? Oh, okay. Yeah. Local, yeah. Yeah. And I've seen in past years, at least in South Carolina, because I don't know how it goes in other states, it's another one of those quarterback-heavy awards. And we all know at the high school level, that may not be the most important position on the field. You can win high school state championships without having great quarterback play. Now, that's not the case at other levels. But at the high school level, yeah, you've got a dominant defense. You might not need to have a good quarterback. Just run the ball. But, you know, that's another story for another day. All right. Oh, I've got a lot to say about somebody tomorrow. All right.
