this through The rush of feeling I keep feeling And the sound of my heart beating Make a melody where sad words can't be true Don't know what it proves But I don't wanna write a breakup song about you I don't know crying down the highway Getting left there in my driveway After words that we both know just meant goodbye I ain't saving thoughts for later Just to put them down on paper Hoping one day it might make you change your mind I don't know if this is love yet But I know we're onto something I ain't running cause I wanna see this through The rush of feeling I keep feeling And the sound of my heart beating Make a melody where sad words can't be true Don't know what it proves But I don't wanna write a breakup song about you Write a breakup song about you Say you hate making love Baby please don't make me write I don't know if this is love yet But I know we're onto something I ain't running cause I wanna see this through The rush of feeling I keep feeling And the sound of my heart beating Make a melody where sad words can't be true Don't know what it proves But I don't wanna write a breakup song about you I don't wanna write a breakup song about you How about the talent of that young lady Making her grandmother proud That is Loretta Lynn's granddaughter Her name is Emmy Russell Go check her out and follow her all over social media And blow up this song for her It is called Breakup Song A great original tune And she is currently again on this season of American Idol Emmy Russell Vote for her on American Idol as well Well I vote for this next young lady That I'm getting ready to do a radio interview with And I'm glad to talk to her anytime Her name is Presley Tennant And we're getting ready to have a great radio interview tonight On the Tim Kelly Show You're listening to the Tim Kelly Show on KICR IndieCountryRadio.com From Branson, Missouri The live show capital of the world On this new Music Friday We have a special guest My good friend Presley Tennant From Norco, California How are you my friend? I'm doing great, how are you doing? Doing fantastic I've been looking forward to this one We haven't spoken in a minute But it's great to have you back on the program We have interviewed in the past Several times I know, it has been a long time I feel like But I'm so glad to be back And thank you so much Me too And I'm glad to play some new music from you too These songs have been, I feel like, a long time coming I feel like the past, I want to say, almost a year and a half Of taking a little hiatus From getting all the back end work done Writing so much And to finally be out there And I'm like, I cannot wait Yeah, that was me when I took a hiatus During the pandemic as well The new music just kept coming into my email One song after another And I was like, wow, got to get back into radio This is some good stuff And the world needs to hear it It was just, you know, it's one of those things Where it's like, I wanted to put out music so bad But I wanted to just Kind of, I wouldn't say like, redo the catalog But I just wanted to get so much Like inventory of songs that I have So I can just pick and choose And be like, okay, see which ones flip to the top To kind of release those Because I feel like before I was just writing and releasing Because it spoke to me at that time But now I'm trying to be like, okay I know I can write this and this and this But where do I feel now And how am I going to feel differently In six or seven months So I'm very excited for these ones to come out I just interviewed a singer-songwriter By the name of Jan Buckingham And she's from Nashville And she plays the listening room And all those great venues in Nashville all the time And she told me the other day She's got 2,000 songs in her library She's releasing one a month So that's going to be a while For her putting out new music But boy, that's a nice problem to have Having that many in your library Exactly, and you know, she's still sitting around Writing as well as she's releasing them Absolutely Well, that's the beauty of this relationship You know, you write your own material You perform it, and it's just a really neat process And I appreciate having the music And then having your friendship, too That means so much Well, thank you so much As an independent artist, I feel like the biggest thing Is for us getting music out there And so I want to thank you for Putting my music on your platform And being such a good friend I don't know, how long has it actually been Yeah, it's been a few years now And boy, time flies, though When you're having this much fun I've been doing this show for now year number 12 Starting next month Oh my gosh, that's incredible Yeah, it's been fun And I've taken a little hiatus a time or two as well I almost did this year But they were going to kick my rear If I did Well, I'm glad you did it Yeah, especially all the other radio stations That replay the program They would have to hustle up And get some programming in there I do two shows a week for them Oh my goodness It's always a pleasure Well, I'll tell you what I'm looking at your bio And the first two words that I see Speak volumes about you It says radiant and fearless I love that Well, thank you Absolutely, that's Paris Lieutenant That's for sure And you've been dubbed a vocal powerhouse By the Taste of Country Well, Pat Sajak's retired from Wheel of Fortune After 41 years And they always have this wild card that they give you It gives you an extra consonant That's always a good thing Well, I'll take it I love it That's probably some of the best compliments That I've ever gotten You know, he was a disc jockey In the world famous WSM Radio In Nashville, Tennessee Before he started Wheel of Fortune back in the day Oh my gosh, I had no idea I remember we toured the theater one time When we took a trip to Branson And I got to watch a WSM radio show done live And I got to looking at some of the history And Pat Sajak was an on-air personality For him at one point Oh my gosh So that is cool And you're in California Where Pat Sajak films Wheel of Fortune In Norco, California Also known as Horsetown, USA So I bet you love horses, don't you? I do love horses My parents, when they bought land here They bought it for the property But all my neighbors have horses A bunch of my friends have horses So I'm always around them And I think they're some of the most beautiful animals In fact, we'll talk a little bit about Later, you work with a charity To help raise funds for various animal initiatives So we'll talk about that here in a little bit That's a cool thing But when you were 16 years old You made an appearance on NBC's The Voice And I've been interviewing their artists Ever since I started doing this radio show About 12 years ago A lot of them on Team Blake But you were also on Team Kelly As a country music artist And she's one with a few of those So that's good stuff Yeah, The Voice for me was one of the most I would say one of the most incredible experiences I learned so much Not only about myself as an artist But outside of music Which I think was really cool Because my whole thing as I went into the show I just want to grow in, have fun, and learn And I think that was the biggest thing for me I walked in I still had school I was a set teacher every day But then I met some of my best friends I still talk to Tuesday all the time I know I can go to them for anything And then getting to work with Kelly Clarkson Who's my idol I feel like it's part of the reason Why I started singing to begin with I don't know The band and the staff Everybody there It was a community And that's what I loved She was the first winner of American Idol Which is another competition That I interview a lot of artists from as well Yeah, what a voice I swear that woman could sing The damn songbook And I feel like mesmerized I was like, sing it to me girl, preach it And she's got a great talk show on TV too She's moved over to 30 Rock I believe at the NBC studios There in New York City So she's big time Oh yeah, she's a busy woman I will tell you that But she says everything that you see on TV She is all that and so much more And I think that's the coolest thing About when you look at somebody of that status And how they are And how they treat everybody And they're exactly the same way off screen And off stage And just even nicer And that's the coolest thing ever You know, I've been following this young girl Also 16 years old It was on last season's NBC The Voice Season 24 with Team Reba And she finished in the top 2 Her name was Ruby Lee And she's from Missouri as well So that was some good stuff Oh, I've got to make a good Missouri proud moment Yeah, absolutely And then I got the interview also That made it to the top 9 Miss Jordan Rainer I spent 20 years before I came to Branson again We had all of that in common And it was just so easy to talk to her I felt like I've known her forever And same way when you call I feel like I've known you forever And we have talked many times But it's always great to have you on the program Thank you so much for having me Absolutely You have begun to produce your own version Of what you call California country Mixing the western lifestyle With country music I love that Thank you I feel like it's not necessarily The Bakersfield type country Because when you think of California country I feel like that's where my mind kind of goes to From Southern California I grew up, I mean, the beach is so close to me And all these different influences Like the rock I mean, from LA you have more of the rock feel And then the more pop feel So I'm kind of building my own little Style of music Which I like to call my California country But this is the California country that I grew up with Yeah, absolutely You know, a few weeks ago I had a young lady By the name of Deidre Patrick Actually from Bakersfield, California On the program And she grew up in Sallisaw, Oklahoma And I've been there too So we had all of that in common to talk about But her music is totally different Than anything I've ever heard on the radio And boy, when Presley Tennant sings Well, thank you Absolutely It says you have the it factor You're filled with uncompromising integrity And have the it factor and a dream Boy, that's what it takes to make it in this crazy business Isn't it? I would hope so I would do this for a very long time I feel like I've been in the music industry since I was 10 And so I feel like I got thick skin Nothing really bothers me in a way Unless you hit a nerve And then I'm like, oh my God Yeah, no, but I've been very blessed To have been on this journey With the people I've been surrounded by And so I feel like that also makes a really big difference Yep, and I was going to ask you that question You just answered it You know, you were on The Voice at 16 But obviously you've been singing quite a while before that So yeah, about 10 years old That is crazy amazing Yeah, I was 7 when I really started singing When I was 10 years old I was in a girl group going up to L.A. Five days a week for rehearsals For writing, recording, performing And so that's where I really got introduced Into the music industry as a whole And I just fell in love with it And I said, okay, this is what I'm doing And I went full force ahead You know, and I know your mom personally And we have talked many times on the phone And she is one of your biggest supporters And there's nothing like having family Backing you 110, 150 percent It's not an easy road, is it? If I didn't have them I don't know if I'd be doing music Yeah Because like the support system And with how understanding And they realize that this is a dream that I have And that I'm chasing after it And little by little things are happening Like I'm getting to open up for all these different artists And then I go out to Nashville now About once a month But I don't know If they weren't right there with me If I didn't have them I'd be really tough to get through it I know I could, but it'd be a lot tougher You know, I've done this for 12 years And I've interviewed some of the young artists At 10 years old One of them is named Brooklyn Summer I don't know if you've ran across her yet But you probably will if you keep hanging out in Nashville She performs all over at the local And different venues there But I just did her second interview And she's 14 now So it's been a really neat thing To see people like yourself Grow up in the music industry And watch your career's progress Well, thank you so much You've done so much, I feel like Just in general From being friends to sharing your platform For all these different artists I don't know, I look at You said her name was Brooklyn? Yeah, Brooklyn Summer I was in the same position as her So I think it's so cool I don't know, I look at the people that I looked at growing up And this friendship with And to see them after all these years Are still there, I think that's the coolest thing ever That is, and that's why I keep doing it too And I'm not 10 years old Or 15 or whatever But I don't want to retire yet And step back away from this Because it is so much fun I never know who I'm going to get to talk to And my live interview schedule for this next month Is looking really, really good So I'm excited about it That's what we want to hear, I love it When I got to put your name in the hat too We reached out to Core PR Management that you work with I've been working with them for about 10 years And they took me to Radio Seminar About 10 years ago in 2014 And I definitely want to go back to that Brooklyn actually was there this year When we interviewed and had a blast doing Country Radio Seminar, and I sure miss it I probably ran into her there Because I was also at CRS I probably ran into her That is awesome What was your experience like this year with CRS? It looked like a good time to me Yeah, I feel like this year Was probably one of the best years I mean, I went right after COVID That was my first time So this was my third year Maybe fourth And I I mean, my first CRS I was like, oh my gosh, this is incredible And everyone was like, no, this is not even close To what it used to be But I feel like it kind of gets back The more we progress This year was probably one of my favorite years But I think maybe because I know more people And I'm seeing people that I only get to talk to Over the phone And I get to see them in person And it's a different type of feeling And that's why I want to go I get to talk to you guys on the phone all the time Doing these interviews But boy, when you meet an artist in person And really get to know them You get a different perspective of them But yeah, it's sure fun Getting to meet you guys in person That's like my favorite part It's just the community And that's the thing about country radio That it is one big community It is, and especially in the independent world You know, these artists help other artists They support them, they like and share their music And a lot of great collaborations have come from it You know, they've either gotten to write together And write a hit song doing that Or maybe do a duet together or something It's always been fun Exactly It's cool to see that in the music world That everybody supports everybody You have got to share the stage With what you call your musical heroes Artists like Tim McGraw The great Kelly Clarkson that we just talked about Carly Pierce, Blake Shelton Who was a great coach on The Voice for years He stepped away But yeah, that's all good stuff Well thank you It's so weird getting to I always say it's kind of like a pinch me moment That I get to be on the same stage With these artists And getting to open up or sing with them Because I've looked up to them for so long They're also normal people But there's a different I think I respect them differently Because I also do music And I realize how much work and effort they put in To get to where they are And for me to be on the same stage I'm like okay, I feel like I'm doing something right Exactly But it's also very inspiring I think that's the best way to put it I never got to meet him yet But I lived in Ada, Oklahoma for a time Where Blake Shelton is from When I was living in southeast Oklahoma And then his mom opened up Next to Old Red in Tishomingo A kind of a neat resale shop She's got a lot of Blake's clothes Are in there and stuff like that You can buy some of his flannel shirts that he's worn And different things like that Just some really cool memorabilia So he goes out on his ranch in Tishomingo And picks up these deer shed horns, antlers And we bought some of those For like five bucks and decorated our house with them Because we like the rustic style type decorations And so it's pretty cool to have those But he's just a super down to earth guy Isn't he? Oh, he 100% is He is like one of the nicest people I mean even like I never got to really personally meet him But I know from like my friends that were on his team And they all went hunting Hunting together after the show And one of them got a job somewhere else And I was like I love the voice The friendships and the communities Don't end as soon as the season ends Yeah, sticks with you for life, doesn't it? Yeah That's awesome, I'm so glad to hear that That you had such a great experience Well we're going to have a great experience In some of your music tonight I want to talk about your first and latest single Somebody Like You Tell us about this new song Somebody Like You I wrote with Mr. Michael Delaney Out in Nashville a bit ago And it's kind of You know once you End a relationship Usually You're ending it for a reason That you don't want to get back with that person Or ever kind of find somebody like them And so it's kind of just a song It was one of those things Where I ran into some people And they said something And it kind of sparked this idea And I was like oh I'm never going to find somebody like him And then I was like well good That's kind of why this didn't work out And it was very well taken from that But I'm not mad about it Yeah That is awesome, that is an interesting take On the title of the song And that's why I love doing these interviews We get to hear the stories behind them I get a lot of titles and I never know what they're about Until I talk to the artist, so that's good stuff Her name is Presley Tennant This is the Tim Kelly Show from KICR Indie Country Radio This is called Somebody Like You On KICR Indie Country Radio New country's best From this new music front You like the fast planes I like them back roads You take your heels in I go where the wind blows We were the wrong thing That's just the way it goes I just got over it Now I know where you go All your friends that I run into Tell me I'll never find somebody like you You're made of money You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You flirt with all of my girlfriends I call you out And you always blame them You wear that mirror out Stick in that stupid hair Take you out Leasing out Digging out the clothes you wear All your friends that I run into Tell me I'll never find somebody like you You're made of money You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You're made of money You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy Don't ask her for goodbye Don't worry about me baby I'll be fine All your friends that I run into Tell me I'll never find somebody like you You're made of money You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy You drive the ladies crazy Don't ask her for goodbye Don't worry about me baby I'll be fine All your friends that I run into Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you Tell me I'll never find somebody like you You're one of those artists who I have never rejected a song from. I've got a lot of those, but you're definitely one of them. Oh, thank you so much! Absolutely. We tagged this station, New Country's Best. That's our ex-formerly Twitter. That's our account over there at New Country's Best. And I can always say that behind every song I play from you. Well, thank you so much. Thank you. That is how we work it around here when we have the It Factor with us. That's for sure. You've also got a heart of gold that says you're not only talented, but you have a heart of gold. You donate your time to animal organizations through her Rifts and Rescues virtual charity tour. Tell us what that's about. Yeah, so I started Rifts and Rescues during COVID, and it was just virtual for the most part, but I am a very passionate lover of animals. They are our best friends. I mean, I have two dogs myself named Taffy and Cheeky, and they're my best friends. These animals that are in these shelters, and sometimes they don't get a second chance at life. That breaks my heart. And so I want to be the voice for these animals to help them find a forever loving home. I mean, for me being from Norco, I've gone to a few more horse organizations, or whenever I'm in a certain town that I'm passing by and there's a big shelter, I want to go in and see the animals and help raise awareness for these animals and for these shelters, even if it's just to donate money, but a lot of these times, these shelters and organizations help pay for medical expenses for animals that are already in the shelter, obviously, but also for families that have these animals outside of shelter that can't afford it, which I think is incredible. So instead of cutting down the animals, they are able to help them out and give them another chance at life, not just in that forever home, but another chance of just living Now tell us again your animals' names, Taffy and Chico, is that right? Yes. Chico, okay, you broke up when you said Chico just a little bit, but now we got that. So what kind of dogs are they? They are a Chihuahua and a Yorkie Poodle. There you go, I love it. We've got two animals ourselves, and our second one is a rescue. She was dumped out on the farm along with two other dogs and then they put it on Facebook Marketplace and my wife showed me the picture and I really like the looks of what we call her Annie now. She's an Anatolian Shepherd Boxer Mix. Oh my goodness. And we named her Annie and boy, she's just a ball of fire. I love it. Rescue animals are the best. Our dog that we got as a pup, we've had her since she was eight weeks old and we just paid for the shots and everything like that and got her from a friend. She's got a personality, but she's just lazy and lays around a lot and stuff, barks when the doorbell rings. But Annie's just a totally different personality and a rescue dog. I mean, that's just amazing. I think that's amazing. I love that. We have a good time with her. If you guys get the chance, donate to these different charities and organizations. Get one of these rescue animals as your own if you're a pet lover like we are. They become family too, aren't they? They're fur babies we call them. Exactly. I feel like you're family to the radio station. We're always willing to do the interviews and we always have a great time when we're hanging out like we are tonight. These are my favorites. You are incredible. Thank you so much for having me. Thank you for that. You are too. It's always been a great working relationship playing your music. I've got a couple of other great songs to play tonight. One's called Love's Gonna Win. Tell us about this great song. I wrote this a few years back with Mary Sue England and Gloria Banks. I feel like it came off the 600 Miles EP. The 600 Miles EP is this journal of what was going on throughout life, whether it was my life or what was going on in the world. I kind of wrote that song during this time when there was so much divide and separation. I was like, if we all put aside our differences, we all have so much more in common than we actually realize. I feel like, especially right now, this song is one of those songs that never kind of goes away because it's sitting for almost all the time. I'm really glad that it's actually being kind of brought back out again. I feel like, I don't know, it was just a very special message to me. Everybody that worked on the song was incredible. I don't know, I have a little special appreciation for the song. I'll tell you what, it is fantastic and love is something the world always needs, so that's never going to go out of style. The third one we're going to play to kick off the top of the next hour, also I believe from the 600 Miles EP, is a great song called God Forbid We Pray. I love a great ballad in the world of country music, but this message in this song is so powerful. Tell us about it too. God Forbid We Pray, it was actually, I didn't write this song, but it was one of the songs that somebody sent me and I fell in love with everything about it. Even at our darkest times, I'm a believer in God, I believe in Jesus and I think that we need to turn to him more often and not just for when things get heavy, but also appreciate him when things are good. For every little aspect of our life, try to find him in everything because he gives us purpose. I think that's the biggest thing, when I heard the song and heard what it's talking about and I fell in love with it. I was like, hey, I feel very special about this. Is there any way I can cut this? And they were like, absolutely. So I put it out also on the EP because I just felt like during that time it felt right to me. It spoke to me in a certain way. You know, we were talking off the air a lot about your mom and our family and my wife and this and that. My wife has actually requested that I play this song when it first came out. She loved it that much. She's a great listener of the program, but certain songs hit home to everybody. She's one that loves God Forbid We Pray, and I do too. Well, thank you. Thank you. Absolutely. The first thing that we can do in the morning is get up and thank God for another day to showcase the God-given talent that we have to the world. That's exactly what you do every day that you get up, I know, because that's how you get on this program and others around the world. Well, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I feel like that's the biggest... I feel like as soon as you put faith in God and you let him... you don't question him and you just kind of let things go as they come, but that's when things really start making sense. Absolutely. You know, and it's a perfect song for here in Branson because we live in what they call the Bible Belt here in Missouri, but it's also a perfect song for the rest of the world and it's something that everybody needs to hear and isn't music universal too. It has its language of its own and you can speak to the whole world. We're on three radio stations in Belgium, one in Germany. We're all over the place with this program and they get to hear it as well. Oh my goodness. Well, thank you so much for letting me share this with everyone. You are absolutely welcome. Where would you like to share your social media if folks want to find out more about Presley Tenet? You can find me on all my social media which is at Presley Tenet or you can just go to my website which is presleytenet.com so that's presleytenent.com presleytenent.com presleytenent.com and everything is linked there. That is awesome. Man, it's been a pleasure having you on the program again. Always welcome. I'd love to do it again in a few months so just hit me up anytime and hopefully we can meet in person one of these days at CRS or one of the great venues around the country and maybe one of these days we can see you here in Branson. That would be amazing. Oh my goodness. It's going to happen. It's going to happen. It is. It is. There are so many places to play here and so much musical talent in this town but they need to hear some Presley Tenet. That's for sure. Well, thank you. Absolutely. And we're going to play Love's Gonna Win to take us out of the interview on the Tim Kelly show or Indie Country Radio, New Country's Best on this New Music Friday. Thank you, Miss Presley. Thank you.
