AI is used to detect suspicious activity in a store's backstore area. The system can identify when people are rummaging through items in the dumpster and leaving when the spotlights are turned on. The AI also breaks down the suspects' activities into three stages. Initially, an audio message is played to ask them to leave. If they don't leave, spotlights and a stronger audio message are used. This usually causes the suspects to leave. The system also creates a notification and event log for management to review. In this case, AI detects rummaging at backstore where subjects survey the backstore area, explore the store assets in the dumpster, and leaves the area when spotlights are switched on. Although rummaging seems to be one event scenario, however, AI captures a more detailed view of suspects' activities across store premises and breaks down the journey into three activities. For the first five to 10 seconds of a person detected in a defined area, the system responds initially with lowest threat response, such as audio message, which goes like this. This is private property. Please leave the area immediately. After 10 to 15 seconds, stronger response with spotlights and audio. This area is restricted. Leave the area or the authorities will be dispatched. Upon AI detection and deterrence intervention, suspects leave the area immediately. At the same time, a notification and event log are created for management review.
