Nothing to say, yet
The two-child limit is a clear policy that pushes families into poverty. The government hasn't even checked if it is effective or meets its goals. Scrapping the limit would lift 300,000 children out of poverty, making child poverty stats look great. it can be quite a complicated thing that involves many different government departments because you have, like, education and housing, Department for Work and Pensions. You know, there's lots of things that you can do in different departments to make a difference. The thing about the two-child limit is it's clear. It doesn't serve any of its policy objectives. The government have admitted they don't, the Conservative government, before the parliament ended, admitted that they hadn't looked at whether or not it was even effective or meeting its policy aims. You know, it's the only thing it does is exist to push families into poverty. And we clearly know that it would lift 300,000 children out of poverty across the whole of the UK. So it's a kind of no-brainer when it comes to child poverty. If you are a party that is serious about tackling child poverty, your first action would be to scrap the two-child limit because it would make your child poverty stats look really great. Like, you know, the first year that you produce any stats, there'd be a massive decrease in child poverty.
