Coach Boone, a motivational speaker and coach of the winning American football team, shares his experience on FM 104. He started playing football with his dad at a young age and became a coach to make an impact on young players. He took the opportunity to coach an integrated team, despite knowing there would be challenges. He credits the team's success to their hard work, not his coaching. His advice to young players is to work together, trust teammates, and listen to the coach. Hi, welcome back to FM 104. Introducing our special guest, coach of this year's winning American football team, motivational speaker, the man himself, Coach Boone. Welcome, Coach Boone. How are you today? Hi, I'm great. Thank you for having me on FM 104 today. Thank you for being here to talk about your experience with the Titans. We just have a few questions to start. Firstly, how did you take up an interest in American football? Good question. My dad was always interested in football, and from a very early age, me and him would be out in front of the house throwing a ball around. As soon as I was in school, I became a part of the local team, and I've never stopped since. Interesting. It shows that you've been doing it your whole life. I was also wondering how it came about that you decided to coach in the Titans. Well, I always wanted to be a coach ever since my dad taught me to play football and inspired my love for it. I wanted to have a big impact on young people playing football. I've coached a few minor teams in the past, but nothing too serious. Then one day I got a call that said an all-white and an all-black team were being integrated, and that they wanted me to coach it. I knew there would be trouble and that it would be difficult to get everyone to work together, but I decided that this was a big opportunity. I could make a real difference to the team. Well, it's a good thing you decided to take that opportunity, or the Titans wouldn't have been as successful. No, no, I can't take much credit. I may have coached the team, but they're the ones who had what it takes, and they won it for themselves. How modest of you. I just have one final question before you go. Of course, anything. Have you any advice for young people in football today? My advice for young people in football would be to work together as a part of your team, and to trust your teammates, and always listen to your coach. Thanks so much for that, and for coming on F114 today. Thanks for having me.
