Elena King, a senior tennis player, talks about her experience with a new coach and how it made her senior year different. She formed close bonds with her teammates and felt motivated by their support. Although there was some pressure being a senior, it didn't affect her too much. Playing at State was more stressful because of the high level of competition. Elena plans to continue playing tennis, but is unsure if she will play in college. Okay, so first of all, what's your name and your pronouns? Elena King, she's her. How has this year been different than past years? We had a new coach this year. It was definitely a different dynamic. Being a senior, it was different. It made everything mean more. I just got super close with the underclassmen and the juniors. It was really fun. How does your teammates help you and motivate you to do your best? Everyone's super close. We all stay and watch each other and cheer each other on when matches are still going. Was there extra pressure being a senior? I don't think so. Maybe a little bit. What was the atmosphere like when playing at State? Was it different than normal? It was definitely different. It was more stressful. We knew that all the teams there were going to be above our level or at our level. Do you plan to continue playing tennis? I'm going to continue playing tennis. I don't know if I'm going to play in college, though. I'll play outside of school. Thank you so much. Thank you.
