HOST INTRO

In 2022, there was a murder in the University District, close to our campus, which left the community feeling scared and vulnerable. Shortly after, there was also a break-in and assault in a nearby home. This area is home to students, Greek housing, and families with children. Hey Huskies this is Allie Watson with UW News. In 2022 there was some activity happening right in our own backyard affecting neighboring students in the University District. A murder sent shockwaves through our neighborhood just two blocks off campus leaving us all feeling shaken and vulnerable. I caught up with some of the neighbors who witnessed the aftermath. The horror didn't end there with the murder. Just a few months later a home on the same Street 18th Avenue had a break-in and assault of one of their residents. This is an area that is filled with students of all ages, Greek housing and families with children.
