I'm Peter and Jenny's here too. Well that was a children's song that we started off with today but wow the words straight out of the bible very profound so yes great song to launch into our show it was What a Great Creator brought to us by Elevation Music. Yes hello there now today what do we have well there's Peter there's me and there's somebody else coming up that some of you really enjoyed hearing a few weeks ago so who's that going to be we're also going to just mention Adam Peaty now who is Adam Peaty? From the rising of the sun, to the going down of the pain, the Lord's name is to be brave From the rising of the sun, to the going down of the pain, the Lord's name is to be brave Praise ye the Lord, praise him all ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord Let there be the name of the Lord, from this time forth and forevermore From the rising of the sun, to the going down of the pain, the Lord's name is to be brave From the rising of the sun, to the going down of the pain, the Lord's name is to be brave Praise ye the Lord, praise him all ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord Let there be the name of the Lord, from this time forth and forevermore And now it's time for our Just for Fun quiz time for question one Hello again this is Mark in Canada last week some parts of America, Canada and to a lesser degree other parts of the world witnessed a popular celestial event called a solar eclipse what is an eclipse an eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth and for a short period of time the sun or parts of it cannot be seen from earth the rarest of these events is called a total eclipse when the sun is entirely blocked by the moon a total eclipse is never seen from every part of the earth many places see only part of the sun blocked and this is referred to as a partial eclipse for those observers today's a quiz we'll see what you know about eclipses here's the first question how often do solar eclipses occur is it a every 18 months b every 18 years c every 375 years again how often do total solar eclipses occur is it a every 18 months b every 18 years or c every 375 years stay tuned I'll be back with question number two a little later well thank you Mark that really is a very interesting subject eclipses have always fascinated me now you can see we've got a bit of a theme coming in this week it was only just a week or so ago that we had the total eclipse in North America including Canada did you watch it online or maybe you were there anyway it was wonderful wasn't it now apparently the last total eclipse over England was in 1999 but could only be seen in Devon and Cornwall I don't think we managed to get down there I can't remember it what a shame but maybe you were there then there will be a total eclipse over northern Spain in 2026 that's only a couple of years away and that will track all the way along to Iceland so why not book a holiday there now but how come the moon could go right across the sun anyway the moon is 400 times smaller than the sun but then the sun is 400 times further away from the earth than the moon which is why when someone is looking from the relevant place on the earth all they can see is the moon as it passes by the sun you know the heavens are governed by laws of nature and mathematics they point towards a creator the precision of the eclipse is a wonderful reminder that there is a creator it's almost as though he's given us eclipses just for entertainment and just to say hello anyway the bible says that everyone can know God through looking at his creation so those who reject the creator are without excuse that's what Paul said when he was writing a letter to the Romans anyway the awesomeness of all nature including the feelings inspired by eclipses declare the glory of God it was interesting one of the commentators on tv picked up on a family watching the eclipse to ask what they thought the dad said it declared the glory of God and he wished that when music was then blasted out that they'd put on some worship music then his little girl when asked about the eclipse said it was indescribable so let's play that song indescribable right now by Laura Storey from the highest of heights to the depths of the sea creations revealing your majesty from the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring oh indescribable untamable forcing heavenly imagine the sun to bring us the coolness of life oh that you are amazing God amazing you are amazing God we fall to our knees you are amazing unchangeable you are amazing God so and now it's time for our just for fun quiz time for question two this is mark back with today's second quiz question in what year did a total eclipse take place that scientists consider the most famous was it the year 418 the year 1851 or the year 1919 again what year did a total eclipse take place that scientists consider the fun quiz and time for question three thank you are you ready for question number three and don't forget you can look it up on the internet what year will the next total eclipse be seen in the uk is it a church is together in ktm and salford production for ktcr fm 105.8 and online now it's 2024 isn't it it's an olympic year olympic games and this year they're going to be in paris i wonder if any of you are going to be hopping across the channel to go and watch them i must say we've never been to see any olympic games have we no it would be exciting though wouldn't it but i enjoy watching them on television anyway if you remember at the top of the show as they say um i mentioned the name adam pt now do you know who he is well he's the british holder of the world record in 50 meter and 100 meter breaststroke events he's broken world records 14 times pt spends approximately six hours a day training for an event that's done and dusted in less than 60 seconds this three-time olympic swimming champion says his christian faith has helped him deal with his mental health struggles and handle the pressures of the upcoming paris olympic games he's taken time out in recent years to deal with periods of depression and alcohol problems he spoke recently to bbc east midlands today and he said that he spent most of his life getting all his fulfillment from his results and that it's led him to some dark moments but that now he realizes that his real life is his family not just his job and performance and the only place to get the balance right he found was at church and while he was talking of god his faith and attending sunday sermons the heavily tattooed pt pointed to the latest and most prominent bit of ink on his body on his abdomen is a cross with the words into the light written below it so that sounds good doesn't it he's very happy to use the gift that he's been given swimming but realizes that god and family come first so that's excellent now let's go to something totally different you'll remember that often we have poems and things by pat rock on belief together in fact last week we even had her singing did you hear her singing about the rainbow that was really lovely thank you pat now it's pat's birthday this coming week so i asked what hymn or song she would like us to play for her and she said i usually like the old hymns but there's one by graham kendrick that's really a prayer which reflects what i often pray so pat a very happy birthday to you and we are delighted to play for you restore oh lord by graham kendrick oh the honor of your name in works of sovereign power come shake the earth again shall and in at times but mercy oh living god whose mercy shall i have for you where we are hot and cold in your refiner's fire come purify the gold across his still our living god is raining he is here oh lord the honor of your name in works of sovereign power come shake the earth again the living god you me oh so yes happy birthday pat now she says that that song reflects her prayers maybe you feel the same maybe you pray indeed for god to restore now we're going to move on into our news headlines for this week new trailblazing chaplaincy role for outdoor enthusiasts in north wales man arrested after bishops stabbed in church attack it's jesus not to me says scotty scheffler after second master's win u.s pastor and author chuck swindle to step down as senior pastor of his church bring back our girls a decade on tragedy of nigeria's christian chibok girls endures outside the spotlight notredame cathedral nears reopening leaders unite against proposed legislation to criminalize rough sleeping archbishop of canterbury bear grills and mary berry voice new bible story videos for children now it's time for the answers for this week's quiz hello again and here are the answers for today's quiz question number one how often do solar eclipses occur while the solar eclipse could happen 18 years apart this is rare solar eclipses could be seen from the same observation point about once every 375 years some places will see it more often the answer we are looking for is a a total eclipse occurs somewhere on earth about once every 18 months question number two what year did the most famous eclipse take place during the total phase of the eclipse in the year 418 the greek church historian philostorgius made a sketch of stars and of a comet the first one ever discovered during an eclipse this was the first proof that the sun was in and of itself a bright star in the universe during the eclipse of 1851 russian photographer burkowski captured the first successful image of totality in prussia now collingred russia he exposed a photographic plate for 84 seconds even though these were two very important events the answer why was looking for is c with the most famous eclipse seen on may the 29th 1919 english astrophysicist arthur eddington proposed a test during which observers would photograph the sun during a solar eclipses totality to see if the sun's gravity made any stars visible that would not normally be seen two teams of astronomers took pictures that showed conclusively that gravity warps space what makes this event famous and most important to science is that it proved albert einstein's theory of relativity finally question number three when will a total eclipse next be visible in the united kingdom in 2026 a partial eclipse will be seen in 90 of the uk a total eclipse will be seen in the channel islands in 2081 and in 2090 most of the southwest england will see it consider yourself correct if you chose answers b c or d today's quiz focused on solar eclipses another type is called a lunar eclipse that happens more frequently be thinking about this as i may return in the future with quizzes about lunar eclipses and other interesting celestial events and phenomena and with that comes the conclusion of this week's quiz my name is mark robinson from manitoba canada until next time god's blessings on each of you that listen and be assured that god loves you and the believe together team loves you well thank you again mark i'm sure we'll be asking you to come back again and bring us some more interesting questions very soon now pat's song was about well it was a prayer asking god to restore the honor of his name and other more things now we have another song that talks about restoring as well this one is based on psalm 23 and is brought to us by lowen harris you restore my soul he restores my soul he restores surely your goodness and mercy i'll fear no evil even when the silence i know you hear me it feels like we're separated you're holding on to me you lift my head to watch the tears you restore my soul you draw me into your embrace you restore my soul surely your goodness and mercy chasing after me all of the days of my life even when i'm lost in the deepest silence i'll fear no evil even when the silence holds around me i know you hear me even when it feels like we're separated you're holding on to me even when i'm lost in the deepest silence you're holding on to me even when the silence holds around me you're holding on to me even when it feels like we're separated you're holding on to me you're holding on to me you restore my soul you restore my soul you restore my soul you restore my soul you restore my soul you restore my soul you restore my soul you restore my soul you restore my soul the lord is my shepherd he restores my soul the lord is my shepherd he restores my soul he restores my soul right it's time for us to share some what's ons i hope you've got a bit of pen and paper if you want to note down any details maybe you want to go along to some of these events i hope so anyway right first of all i've got two not just one but two men's breakfasts to share with you the first is that all local men are warmly invited to a men's breakfast where it's planned at the Riverside Pub in Salford when this Saturday the 20th of April at 9am followed by a short talk from the fairly new rector of St Mary's Church in Salford Nigel Williams so guys this is your chance to find out about the interesting life of this new guy on the block as it were now this event will end at the latest 10.40am it does cost 12 quid they want correct cash on the door please to book a place at this breakfast please leave a message on the church office number which will be on our Facebook page as usual and there's also an email address or of course if you're in the Salford area just try to call in there and leave your booking now on the same day at the same time there's a men united breakfast just down the road they say this we look forward to welcoming you on Saturday the 20th of April for our second men united breakfast of 2024 where our speaker will be Luke Joyner now the time again is 9am it will be finished about 11 the venue is the globe pub in Newton St Lowe Bath there's free on site parking no need to book for this one anyway you just turn up on the day and you pay for whichever breakfast you want the small one, the medium one, the huge one or the vegetarian one you take your pick and you pay appropriately but none of them cost more than 10 quid I think anyway who's the speaker guy it's Luke his lifestyle with drugs and crime his first prison sentence was at 17 and then continued through to age 33 so hear his story about how he's changed he now does a weekly outreach in Bristol where people just love, pray and feed people and they see many people decide to follow Christ the Lord has blessed him with a job in a homeless hostel helping others so yes a really interesting story hmm now Kenshin Baptist Church it's time for their messy breakfast this Sunday the 21st of April at 9.30am there's breakfast with bacon rolls there'll be a quiz craft, singing and an all age story time so everybody's welcome I went to their last messy breakfast it was really good everyone's welcome especially families with children now abseiling we've mentioned this one before the abseiling event in aid of St John's Church Kenshin and in aid of Mencap is here at last on Saturday the 20th from 9.30am in the morning and then again on Sunday the 21st from 1pm now all the slots for abseilers down St John's Church tower are filled I wonder if you're going to be one of the abseilers whoa but there'll be plenty of other things going on around the church a barbeque, refreshments bouncy castle, face painting balloon modelling and more organised by Kenshin Mencap there's also a raffle with a first prize of a weekend in Pembrokeshire to include a visit to Skoma Island to see puffins and there are many other lovely prizes so that really does sound quite an attraction there now ladies you heard about two breakfasts just now for men, well don't worry there's something for you coming up as well, but not breakfast it's a time out ladies afternoon some other fundraising going on is a time out ladies afternoon run by and taking place at Kenshin's Ealing Church in Balmoral Road they're raising funds towards running the annual camp for children from very vulnerable and disadvantaged homes in Romania there's a suggested entrance donation on the door of £5 a complimentary soft drink provided and goodie bag also there's an auction a nearly new clothes sale a nail bar craft workshops and afternoon tea with finger sandwiches and cakes this is a cash only event and when is it? it's on Saturday the 27th of April from 2pm to 5pm all ladies are very welcome ok now whilst shopping at Tesco's please support the Girls Brigade by placing your blue token in the Kenshin Girls Brigade section on the way out as you go down the corridor towards the exit doors their project is entitled Fit, Healthy and Resilient so they say thank you very much for every counter put in they're hoping to get a lovely donation from Tesco's, why not? you're listening to Believe Together the church is together in Kenshin and Salford production for KTCR FM 105.8 and online it's been some time now since we brought you an update about Kenshin's own pioneer minister, Trevor James we haven't mentioned much of what he does in the parish recently and he has been changing things around lately, so let's have a look at some of the things which is involved just now he says come and join us in our allotment spaces outside of the sanctuary garden and let's grow together every Monday and Friday from 10 in the morning until 12.30 you can find us on Roberts Hill behind the Green Gates just before Albert Mill now as yet they don't have wheelchair access though there is wheelchair access at the monthly Grow Together family session at One Community Trust just behind St John's Church that's every 4th Sunday of the month from 2 to 4 in the afternoon well the sanctuary garden is part of Kenshin Parish linked in with St John's Church now the advert for some of the activities says this are you itching to get your hands dirty and let's cultivate something beautiful in this space both in the soil and in our hearts, we can't wait to welcome you, well Trevor James that's an amazing ad I have to say, it is indeed, so let's just quickly revise back on the times of this every Monday and Friday from 10 in the morning until 12.30 down there on Dapps Hill behind the green gates lovely, I've been down there once or twice I think and it really is a beautiful place but that was before it grew so big, now apparently there's three allotments involved, wow things are really moving on down there, well done Trevor yep, now with what stones we usually of course tell you what's going on in Keynsham and Sultford but let's go a bit further afield because many Christians in Keynsham go outside to Bath of Bristol for different things, so here are a couple of things that go on in Bristol you might like to know about there's a love express cafe where you can talk to someone receive prayer for the healing of your body, mind and spirit receive encouraging words and of course have tea, coffee, cake or other refreshments, this love express cafe is at the Rezound Church, Blackhorse Road, Emerson's Green in Bristol and it's on every third Wednesday each month from 11am to 1.30pm so the next one will be on Wednesday the 15th of May then also at Rezound Church in Bristol there's Wildfire which takes place I think once a fortnight and hosts all sorts of events to help equip Christians to live in an intimate relationship with Jesus and Father God as disciples with prophecy, healing Holy Spirit led worship and fellowship, their next event is this Friday the 19th of April starting with refreshments from 7pm and then Paul Skelton speaking on what you're doing with what you got from 7.30pm the evening finishes by 10pm, there's no need to book, just turn up now Paul Skelton actually came to Kynsham some years ago to teach some of us how to minister to others in healing on the street which we did for some years so I'm sure that will be a very interesting time God the maker of the heavens and the planet that we share show us how to live like Jesus lives of gratitude and care make us mindful of His footprints from the lives that we pursue make us partners in your mission you are making all things new God the gardener of Eden teaches how to tend His earth learning from the changing seasons time to follow and learn Lord have mercy when we're careless rich resources we misuse you don't have to heal creation you are making all things new God of labor and vocation Lord of science trade and art take our efforts and our passions make them nearest of your heart every habit, heart and creature loved and valued God by you may our lives receive your kingdom you are making all things new God music music music music
