The speaker supports digital anonymity because it allows them to keep personal information private. They believe that social media can be both anonymous and non-anonymous, giving users the choice to participate however they want. They argue that anonymity can protect information but also lead to cyberbullying and negative behavior. They believe that in cases of abuse, it is acceptable to violate digital anonymity to stop harm. Hi all, just to answer Forum 2 of digital anonymity, why would I be for digital anonymity? It's based on the fact that personal information that I do not want to be exposed to, the public remains hidden and I get to choose what I would like to share or not. So that's one of the reasons I would be for digital anonymity. Question 2 asks if social media is anonymous or non-anonymous set of tools for communication. I would say social media is definitely a mixture of both and gives the user freedom whether you would like to participate in it anonymously or non-anonymously. I think that not only does it protect our information if we would like it to be protected, but it allows us on an anonymous side to create new identities and express ourselves. Why I would also say that it sometimes lies more on the anonymous side is because we see that cyberbullying is still such a huge problem on these kind of social platforms and when it comes down to getting information about the perpetrators so that they can be reprimanded or take responsibility, you would see that social media actually, the anonymous side of it actually protects the identity and it makes it more difficult for people to take accountability and then also if someone can also start negative trending or brand bashing due to their hidden identities on social media platforms, which lies a lot on the anonymous side of communication. And then lastly, do you believe that there are any instances in which digital anonymity should be violated? I'm all for protection of personal information and also I'm careful of what I share and choose not to share much information online. I do believe that violations could have a positive side when trying to find someone who has been abusing his or her rights of anonymity to cause harm unto others. There should be a way to find such a person and put it to stop. Thank you.
