The speaker discusses the importance of stopping and thanking God for the blessings we receive each day. They mention how Hannah and her dad are good at recognizing God's blessings, even in small things like a free drink or a good parking space. The speaker explains that what we focus on is what we notice, and often we focus on negative things rather than God's blessings. They encourage listeners to shift their focus to the ways God is blessing them and to be grateful for even the simplest things. The speaker emphasizes that God is already blessing us every day, and we should look for those blessings. Good morning and welcome to Coffee with Chris. Today I wanted to talk to you about something that Hannah and Hannah's dad actually really taught me. And what that is, is stopping and thanking God for the blessings that he gives you each day, and to look for those blessings throughout your day. One thing Hannah and her dad are really good at is spotting God's blessing for them in that day. You know when something, something we might overlook, that a lot of us might overlook. Something like you got a free drink at your favourite restaurant. Something you know, just the kindness of getting a good parking space when you go somewhere. Those are still blessings. God is looking out for you. And every good thing that happens, it's something that God did for us. Because all that is good, and the only thing that is good, is God himself. All the good that's in me, all the good that's in you, is because of God. Have you ever noticed when you get a new car, or someone you know gets a new car, it seems like a lot of people are driving that car all of the sudden. I drive a Toyota Corolla. I seem to notice a lot of Toyotas, especially Corollas driving around. Is it because as soon as I bought a Toyota Corolla, everybody else around decided Toyota Corollas were amazing, and they wanted to get one too? No. But the thing is, what we tend to focus on is what we tend to notice. It makes sense when you put it that way, right? It seems obvious. Of course you're going to notice what you focus on, right? But that's just a simple truth that we easily overlook. And oftentimes we can get stuck in a rut focusing on negative things, focusing on how something might not be going the way that we would like it to go. And so then it seems like that's the only thing we notice, how nothing is going the way that we want it to go, instead of focusing on A, God, and B, how God is relating to us. One of those things is the blessings that he gives to us. So in a world right now where a lot of things feel like they're being taken away or limited for us, and understandably so, and mostly out of necessity as the time requires, if we focus on those things that feel like they're taken away, feel like they're limited for us, that's what we're going to notice. We're going to start noticing all those things, even in imagined ways, even in ways where it's not a big deal, but that's what we're dwelling on, focusing on, and bringing our focus away from God and to what he has blessed us with, to the things that we want and what we don't have. Instead of putting our eyes on Jesus, putting our eyes on the ways that he has blessed us. Look for those things, look for the ways that God is blessing you. Don't go in it with a dare to God, like, you better bless me today. No, I'm not even saying going into it with an expectation of that blessing, although that's good too. I'm saying even more than that, go into that not with an expectation that God is going to bless you, but a realization that he already is blessing you, that each and every day he is blessing you. So it's not about an expectation of looking forward to something that he might do in a sort of wishful thinking, it's an acknowledgement of the fact that he already is doing this in your life. The fact that I'm breathing right now, that is a blessing. The fact that I have the technology to make this video for you, that is a blessing. The fact that I have tea today, that is a blessing. I greatly enjoy it, it brightens my mood. All of these things are a great blessing. The fact that I have Hannah, and Hannah's out in my life, to bless me and show me by example some of these lessons to learn, that's a huge blessing and I'm so grateful to the Lord for that. So recognize God is already blessing you, and look for that today. Anyways, have a great day, God bless.
