Shane Young from Killary Adventure Centre, telling us the extension or expansion there of the centre and what it might mean to the whole area. And we'll have David Martin, Public Relations Manager, Road Safety Authority, to talk to us about road safety and give us some advice on having a good, safe Christmas on the roads and up to Christmas as well, and lots more as well. But I'm delighted at this stage to welcome Marianne Shoya from Connemara Laird. Marianne, it's a pleasure to have you here with us tonight. Thank you very much for having me. It's a pleasure. So, what's the latest on Connemara Laird? What are you doing here and what are you doing? Well, Connemara Laird has been around since 2007. It's part of the city of Connemara, and the main aim is to improve the quality of life for the people of Connemara, both locally and internationally. And it's part of the city of Connemara, and it's part of the city of Connemara, and we're building a road, a road on it, and we're doing a service on the road, but it's not as important as improving the quality of life for the people of Connemara. But it's a pleasure to be able to use Gaelic, and to be able to communicate with the language because the language is important to the people of Connemara, and to us all. We were talking the other day, we were talking about the language and whether it's going to change, or whether we need to deal with it. How is Gaelic now, in this city, compared to the rest of the country? Well, to tell you the truth, the main point I'm trying to make is that Connemara Laird is the main source of income for the people of Connemara, and there's a great deal of investment in the city of Connemara. And he's put in the work and the effort to improve the language and to improve the language so that everyone in the city is able to speak it again. And to tell you the truth, he's put in the effort to work with schools, with miners, with small groups, with small groups, with farmers, and with the city of Connemara. And there are people who are interested in the language, we're working and listening to people, and to tell you the truth, everything is being improved here, as a result of the people. For example, the main example I can give you is that there's a great deal of effort being put in to get young people to learn the local language, in connection with the local government, we've set up a full service for young people there. There's a great deal of work being done in the city, but at the same time, there's a great deal of effort being put in to get young people to learn the local language, and we're trying to work together to make sure that the voices are heard. We don't want to force the language on anyone, but we want to change it, to change the language. And I'm encouraging young people to do that, to change the language, to be heard. And the main example I can give you is that a young man came out of this bubble a few years ago, he's taking a class in this area, he's married to a woman, he's learning Irish, and now he's doing a diploma in Irish, so there's a lot of interest in learning the language. I understand that there are a lot of people who want to read this book, and it's a great opportunity for young people. There's not a lot of money to spend, but we're trying to make sure that's the case. But the plan to change the language, it's based on two things. It's about the schools, because I heard that there's a scheme for the schools of the Gaeilgeachta, but what is that and what are you doing about that? Well, there's a scheme for the schools of the Gaeilgeachta, it's a scheme that's being put in place by the Gaeilgeachta, but that's to ensure that the Gaeilgeachta language is spoken in the school's life, as well as in the school's future. So, for example, there's a huge effort going on in the schools every year, we sit down with the teachers and we say, what are you going to do? And there's a lot of little money involved in the plan to change the language, and it can take two months to get it to another level. Depending on the profile of the teachers and the students, it can take a year or two to get the language to a level where you can or can't do it. So, for example, we're creating, I'd like to think of the terms of the scheme, there are Gaeilge books in the scheme for the young children, and the children in the sixth and sixth grade are given to the younger children and the older children, but the Gaeilge are read together, and they're doing a lot in that scheme, so there's a lot of effort or money involved in the language for the younger children. That's an example of that. Yesterday, we had a meeting with SEAI, and we were very keen to put a stamp on the schools to stop the use of carbon monoxide. So, you're saying that the language is going to be used for thousands of years in the schools, and it's not possible to put a stamp on the schools. So, there's a lot of things like that, but I'd like to know, what are you doing as people who are struggling with cancer, as a teacher, there's a lot of things that need to be done there, what kind of economic development plan do you have for things like this, is that the lifeblood of cancer?
