Hitar Petar and His Shadow

Hitar Petar (Witty Peter) went to the market but had no money to buy food. He went into a cook house and held his bread over the steam of the soup to eat. The man selling the soup got angry and demanded payment. Hitar Petar argued that he only used the steam, not the soup. The man threatened to beat him, but Hitar Petar said he could only beat his shadow on the ground. The Story: One day Hitar Petar went to the market. He had a small piece of bread in his pocket. He wanted to eat, but he had no money because he wasn't rich. He saw a cook house and went inside. A red-faced man was selling hot soup. Some steam was coming out of the soup pot. It smelled tasty. As he didn't have money, Hitter Petter took the bread out of his pocket and held it over the pot. After a while, the bread soaked the tasty steam and Hitar Petar ate it. Seeing this, the red-faced man jumped to his feet. He was very angry. "You must pay now," shouted the man. "But why? I didn't eat any soup. I only held my bread in the steam over the pot," said Hitar Petar. "That's the steam of my soup, so you must pay. If you don't give me some money, I'll beat you with a stick," the man shouted again. He grabbed the stick. "Okay, do as you want, but I only used your steam, so you can only beat my shadow on the ground!" said Hitar Petar.
