Chapter 28, The Reunion I'm a nose to everyone, they arrive in K'iche' the next day around noon. They land at the docks in the glider, noticeably, where they docked their ship prior. The ship has been ravaged as one might expect it would have been after being left unmoved for so long. But the skyfarers have not the slightest clue, because they think they are somewhere else for fuel. They believe and are shown they are in Rwand, Evans and Lulo do not venture with the company as they stay to make sure no one bothers the glider. The company walks to George Corbett's building, which they see as the market. This is George's building, but across from the blue floor, they are welcomed in by an Iolian surgeon who is inspecting them. The individual guides them to the fuel. When they arrive on the roof, it is empty besides two sets of couches on either side of a master chair. On these sets of chairs are Rwand, Hines, Palm, and Derrick, on the master chair sits George Corbett. When the servant delivers the company before George and his board, their eyes are opened. Rwand ends his illusion. The company is stunned and everyone who has a weapon pulls it. George, who drinks a glass of juice, smiles and says, good to once see you all as well. Charlotte, startled, says, how is this possible? We were just in Rwand. There was no vanishing as Helen, angered, says, before, what is it with you all? Lydia, frightened, says, my mamma, my mamma, and Lulu, if we and Kachee, where are they? James says, they are probably at the docks. They just desired us. Lydia, frightened, says, none of this makes sense. As she moves closer to Helen, who is the only one told we are home. He stands ready with a side sword drawn, looking at the seated individuals. Coffee looks at all of his company, drawn from their reactions. Rwand rises and smiles toward George, who nods. Rwand turns toward them and says, Rwand Earls, Heinz Frank, Derrick, Ittsusu, Palm, Olive, Ittsusu, Pedro, Kabat, Cora, Naniata. Hello there. Allow me to fill in the blanks. I am Rwand Earls, advisor and servant to the High Prince of Deja, Pedro Kabat. This is Heinz Frank, first lieutenant and servant to the High Prince of Deja. This is Derrick Ittsusu, second lieutenant and servant to the High Prince of Deja. This is Palm Olive Ittsusu. Just from courtier and servant to the High Prince of Deja, Prince Pedro Kabat. Before he can finish, Charlotte, frustrated, interrupts, the Prince of Deja is long dead. So what does any of this have to do with us? Rwand, smiling, says, Dear Cora, I was just getting the most important part, that valuable information. Charlotte says, Not my name. As he continues, This gentleman is the High Prince of Deja, Prince Pedro Kabat. George rises, he's glad. As he continues, Whom is known the world over as the illustrious novelist, George Kabat. Many of the company steps back as Rwand rises his hand towards his lord. It is revealed he is a full-blown elf in disguise. Charlotte braces and says, But no, that can no be. My favorite writer is some kind of, as Helen places her hand on her shoulder, she quietens. Rwand, eyebrows rise, says, Yes, your favorite writer is actually the love of your life who has waited over three centuries for you to walk Iowa once more, just as prophesied. The company looks toward Charlotte, looks back toward Helen and Whelan. She turns and says, What can you use me? She is frightened. Rwand says, Over three hundred years ago, Prince Pedro Kabat met Cora Nanita. They were both in their youths. Eva was before the High Princess. Cora was a student visiting. Her own life, royalty in itself. She was a scholar of the elements of magic. They fell in love. We all became the best friends. We loved her dearly. Prince Pedro no longer desired to marry his betrothed. Cora and he refused to be out of another sight. He went to his father, the High King of Deha, and renounced his birthright. We, believing in their love, renounced ours as well in order to protect our friends and all their life's journeys. The High King hated it but couldn't stop his son. He created the lie his son died on a hunting expedition. He vowed to wait for his son, one day, to return. We all set a pilgrimage to Retetto. She developed a sickness, though there was no treatment for it, not even magic. A version of it struck as a plague which killed numerous within a year and faded. When she passed, we visited a renowned elf prophet who prophesied she would return in bodily form. In the coming centuries, we have waited. In order to buy time, Prince Pedro has lived numerous lives of nobles. It has been so, so wonderful to finally see him once more. As he goes silent, smiling, Helen, frustrated, says, So youse all have a form of mental problem? I'm not taking my friend away. Not never. Charlotte, confused, says, Even if this were all true, I mean, what did you all expect to happen here and now? George, a devious smile, says, We have kept an eye on you all during this time, Cora. We know how tight you are. So we came to a conclusion. My friends against your friends for the life of you. All the wheeling steps back among the company, as he continues. And no, like myself, you cannot get involved. Looking at Charlotte as he continues. No hair may be harmed on you. If you do involve yourself in our home, we all go. Eyes widen, as he continues. I have a new invention which will remove this entire place. When he says this, he motions toward his chair for some reason, as he continues. That also goes for if you all refuse to fight. James, angered, says, But still, you're saying we have no choice but to take part in something not right? The four have stood up. Helen, tears in her eyes, says, And them, they already know they can win. Lee, looking down, thinks, This is no freedom. How can it all come to this? Each of the four draws their weapon. Lydia thinks, Did I make this happen? Her, having so many bad thoughts about her because I knew she was trying to take my wheeling. I'm so sorry. As she stares at her back, she starts to cry. George orders Charlotte to side with him. If she does not wish to be by him. She walks to the edge of the building. James, confused, in expression, says, How can we be sure you tell the truth? George says, About what? On any grounds, who would go through these lengths for something not theirs? Charlotte, angered, says, I am not yours. As she looks down at the ground. Helen looks toward the floor and says, Let's get this over with. The four walk toward the company. Paul starts striking blades with James while Derek strikes blades with Leland. Lydia moves to an angle where she can run to whomever is harmed. Hines crosses his large dagger with Helen's sword. Ron conjures two gulags from the wood structure of the building. They move in on Lee and Coffee. One gulag uses his long arm as a sword. The other gulag tries to crush Lee and Coffee. They instead begin trying to maneuver around him. Paul's sword is superior to James' so as they continue to cross his blade is damaged. While Leland and Derek appear for the moment evenly matched. Hines is outdueling Helen. Coffee casts a fire spell burning one of the gulags. Lee follows up by casting an ice spell. This freezes the gulag. The other gulag punches through it on accident. Ron runs his teeth. Carla thinks, may have this won't go according as they desire. And she gives an eager expression. Right as she thinks this, Paul shatters James' sword. He responds by kicking her away. Leland starts to move faster to which Derek is slowly unable to keep up with. Helen still being outdueled casts a fire spell. Hines responds by wailing so loud it deflects the spell and sends her across the way. Lee and Coffee alternate their previous spells and freeze the gulag in place. Paul casts a water spell which floods James. Leland shatters Derek's sword and trips him up. He then kicks what remains of Derek's sword out of his hand. Paul casts a lightning spell directed at James. But Lee casts a lightning spell. Their attacks counter each other in the skies. Lewis laughs as he sips his juice. Helen casts a poison spell on Helen but she just gloats they are immune to it. Lee and Coffee cast lightning spells at Ron. He counters them. His lightning counters theirs in the sky. Ron laughs and says, we could use a little favor. He casts a wave of lightning bolts at all the company fighting. Coffee reacts by countering all of them at once. All the others are moved by the exchange. Ron says, hey, the one of pure magic, why don't we have some fun? He begins casting lightning spells one after another but Coffee counters them all. Charlotte smiles nervously and thinks, how old is any child as powerful as Coffee? None of us could have done this. How long can he keep it up though? George looks at her and thinks, Cora, when they are gone, I'll personally remember it. It will be just you and I. His face quickly shifts from twitching to a blank. Derrick casts a fire spell, burning Whelan. He then kicks Whelan away while he burns. Lydia cries out, running over to heal him. Charlotte tells herself he's only stunned. Pine slams Helen's arm into the ground, causing her to release her sword. Palm freezes James while he is still wet from the water spell she cast prior. Lee knocks her across the building top with the wind spell. She then runs over to James and tries to cast a fire spell to thaw him. Ron casts a massive fire spell at Coffee but he counters it with the water spell. Coffee casts a combining nation spell, fire, ice, water, and lightning. The spell does not combine though, it comes from all directions. Ron counters some of it but is unable to counter all of it. Fried by the lightning and freezed by the ice, he was already healing himself. Angered, he vanishes Coffee right in front of him. Ron says, let's see what you are made of. As he casts the water spell, he tears right through Coffee. His wooden insides are thrown across the roof. Lydia, who is in the middle of healing James, freezes up in a state of shock. James puts his head down. Helen and Charlotte look toward one another in disbelief. Lee quietly whispers, no, with a look of grief. Ron rises and says, oh that was just a start. I won't stop until I've moved all of you. His eyes widen as his expression grows sadistic. Lydia hears a strong, passionate, older male voice say, no need to fear, child. I will advantage him. I have been trying to get your attention. He looks around her, frightened, crying so many tears. She thinks, it's Saragon's voice. Who are you? Electricity begins to crackle out of her. Leland looks over at her as he punches away Derek. The voice says, I am not here to frighten you, little one. Just call on me. His voice is getting noticeably stronger, and electricity is pouring out of her. Lydia, crying, says, but I don't know your name. At that moment, a name comes into her mind, and she does not call it out verbally. She speaks it with her spirit. Behind her, reality itself opens. As electricity and lightning generate upward from her, everyone stops and stares toward her. George, who can sense what is occurring, breaks his glass and juts in his hand. A voice which rises continues powerfully, saying, those who call on the power of Thor, he is granted. George angers others, such a thing should not be possible. Charlotte wipes away her tears and says, what on earth is going on with this child? All of a sudden, a valiant elder male, red-headed, wielding a hammer with a gun on, stands over Lydia. His attire of blue and gold is unlike any all I ever wore. He says, I, Thor, am here with you forevermore. As lightning surges out of him, before he looks at another disgruntled, Ron calls out to George. Did that brownie just summon me, Lord? His expression is one of pure character. George nods and grimly says, I'm afraid so. Thor immediately aims his hammer toward Ron and strikes him with lightning. Derek and Pong cast fire and ice spells, while Hines aims his well. They direct each attack at once at Thor. He steps forward, blocking any of it from reaching Lydia. He takes it all. The company senses this is their time to use some of the potions they have. Thor flies over and grabs Derek and slams him to the ground. The roof caves in right there. He quickly grabs Pong by the mouth as she's trying to cast a spell of crush, brings in agony. Hines casts a combination spell on him. For all of its power, it barely phases him. Ron heals himself. He tries to vanish Thor to the other side of Orr, but his hammer absorbs it. He throws his hammer through Ron. Thor tries to do as Lydia asks in her spirit and fry George with a lightning bolt, but George counters it with another bolt. Thor stares at him, impressed. Lydia is starting to bleed rapidly. Derek immediately comes from the ground and grabs his sister's sword. Derek rushes Thor and they cross weapons against another. Lee and Helen nod toward another, casting lightning spears. Derek is fried in the process. Thor grabs him, crushing his bones. He holds him up, then throws him off the roof, killing him, weaving across his blades with Hines, only to dispatch his hand and slit his throat. Thor grabs Ron and flies him up into the sky. The whole while, Ron conjures and conjures, but he cannot stop him. All types of magic is thrown at Thor, but he just continues up. Once he reaches the clouds, there is an explosion, and Ron is gone. Before anything can go further, the bloody Lydia rises from the ground. She begins getting choked. Her neck is tightened. George rises out of his seat and has his hands aimed at her. As Whelan moves toward him, a hurricane wind breaks him down. They all look toward him. The End
