Nothing to say, yet
Farah and Valeria had always dreamed of having their weddings at the Plaza Hotel in New York. They were both engaged, but a mistake by their wedding planner led to a double booking. They started sabotaging each other's wedding preparations out of jealousy. On their wedding day, they realized how foolish they had been and reconciled. They learned the importance of choosing their battles and valuing their friendship. Hello, my name is Farah and I'm Valeria and today we're going to be talking about how our friendship almost ended. For as long as I can remember, me and Valeria have been best friends and we have always dreamed of having our wedding day at the Plaza Hotel in New York. Every time we would see each other, we would play out our wedding days and how we wanted them to look like. I would wear a beautiful white dress and Farah would wear a very handsome tux. In our mid-twenties, me and Valeria were dating our dream guys and we were hoping they would propose anytime soon. One day, we were at my house and we were going through my closet when we suddenly came across this small teal box that had a white bow wrapped around it. It was a Tiffany box. We did not open it, but there was no need. We knew it was an engagement ring. I was so excited, I could not contain myself and I had to tell the entire world that I was getting proposed to that night. However, unexpectedly, Valeria didn't end up engaged that night. I did. Once I got home, my boyfriend proposed to me and I was a fiancé. When I received this call the following morning, I was furiously jealous and I had to do something about it. So I went into my boyfriend's office while everyone was quietly working and I literally scram at him, will you marry me already? Now that me and Valeria are both engaged, we decided to go meet our wedding planner and luckily, for some reason, it might be destiny, we both found a slot at the Plaza Hotel for our weddings. Our dreams were coming true. However, our wedding planner made the mistake of mixing up our dates with another client and double booked Farah and I for the same date and it was very hard to change these because the next availability was in three years. That's when it all started going downhill. We knew one of us had to change the date, but none of us wanted to, so we just started pushing the problem away and not addressing it. Later, I found out that Valeria was looking for cards for her save the date and I got so mad, I was like, she's not doing this to me. I opened up my email, sent an email to everyone I knew but her saying, save the date, this is my wedding date. Yes, I was looking at save the date cards, but it did not mean I was going to send out my invitations. You, however, decided to do that first. The two months before the wedding, it was hell. Valeria stole the DJ that I have always wanted for my wedding, but you tried to get me fat, sending me chocolates every day for the next two months, acting as if they came from my soon to be husband. Oh, but you, you crossed the line. You went into my spray tan appointment and you changed the bottles and I looked orange for weeks. Oh, but at least that's not as permanent as blue hair. You literally sabotaged my hair appointment by changing out the dyes. To be honest, it got a little exhausting, especially not having my best friend there for what it was supposed to be, the happiest time of my life. Yeah, it was pretty tough not having my best friend there with me every step of the way during this beautiful process. Fast forward, our wedding day came along, we were in the same place at the same time, but not together. When I saw Valeria in her beautiful gown about to get married, I thought, wow, I wish we did this together. I miss her. Oh, but that feeling did not last long. As I'm walking down the aisle, I just see a huge screen with a video of me drunk in Las Vegas. And I just think, oh, Valeria. And I turn around, I run to her ceremony and tackle her to the floor. When I felt Farrah tackle me onto the ground, I had no idea what was going on. In my head, I had completely eliminated that video. We fought in the ground for a solid 10 minutes while everyone in that room was staring down at us, surprised, not knowing what to do. It got to a point that we both gave up. We just lay there for a while and cried. We were so sad that this had happened, that we let this came between us. So we stared at each other, and we smiled at each other. And we realized that this was stupid. We never should have been fighting about this in the first place. We were best friends, and we were not there for each other for the most important day of our lives. We got up, we hugged each other, and we put it behind us. We both continued our ceremony, got married, and celebrated together. This is our proof that some bonds are simply unbreakable. This also taught us that sometimes you have to choose your battles. Not every fight is worth the fight. We hope this story helps you reflect that the best part of success is being able to share it with your loved ones. Even if we both had our dream weddings, we did not get the chance to share it with each other. Value, cherish, and take care of your friendships.
