Nothing to say, yet
The radio show starts with a discussion about the Final Four in the NCAA tournament. The hosts are surprised by NC State's success as an 11th seed. They also discuss the matchup between UConn and Alabama, with both favoring UConn. They then talk about the Purdue versus North Carolina game and the potential impact of DJ Burns on Purdue's player, ED. The conversation then shifts to a discussion of NFL free agency, starting with the Buffalo Bills and their losses on defense. They move on to talk about the Miami Dolphins and their mix of losses and acquisitions. The New England Patriots are criticized for their lackluster offseason, while the New York Jets are praised for their moves, particularly the signing of Tyron Smith. Finally, the Baltimore Ravens are mentioned, though no details are provided. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina-Suderrand Radio Station. After a wonderful Easter weekend, we are back by we, I just mean me and Christian. Will's not here today. And so we're going to start it off with, of course, the Final Four. Must we say, look at NC State. Come on, man. Let's talk about NC State, man. The 11th seed. Were you expecting them to go this far? Not at all. I mean, they like surprisingly won their tournament on that little run, somehow beat UNC. And everyone was like, wow, this 11th seed really just beat UNC. Sure, they're probably going to enjoy maybe a win or two in the tournament. And now they are just rolling. DJ Burns has been one of the best players in the country the last few weeks. And it's so impressive how they've just, after starting off so bad, I want to know what happened in that locker room for them to switch gears. And what, I believe they won their last nine or 10 games now, and they're in the Final Four? Crazy. Got to be a coach's meeting or something, you know? So they put something into the Gatorade type deal. Exactly. And so let's talk about the matchup here. First matchup, we got UConn versus Bama. I didn't expect Bama to go this far. I expected UConn, because I think UConn's the best team in the tournament right now, overall. Did not expect Bama to get here. What are your expectations for this game? For the game, I just, UConn's a wagon. I'm not going to go against them. They've really just looked unstoppable, honestly. They shut down the Illinois' best offense coming into March Madness, number one ranked offense, shut down, didn't score in real time for almost an hour. Like, that's crazy. Put Terrence Shannon in a box, and they just do literally everything right. I don't know if anyone can beat them. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, they're the best looking team right now. And it seems like they've been dominating every single team. With Bama, I mean, they cut close many times throughout this tournament. I'm also going to go UConn on this. I think they might win the whole tournament, in my opinion. Next, of course, the last two is Purdue versus NC State. North Carolina. Something about North Carolina with college basketball, man. They just brew it up. What are your thoughts on this game? Look, I'm a known Purdue hater at this point, not a fan of ED, really. But NC State, I mean, this matchup with Burns on ED is going to be insane. It's going to feed families. It's going to feed families, absolutely. Yeah, I'm hoping Burns can shut them down. But he is 7 foot 4, you know? And I think it just comes down to he's just so big that they foul him all the time. You saw Purdue shoot so many free throws every game this year. Yeah, I mean, ED is just a unit. We'll be back right after the break. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina Student Radio Station. We are back for this first segment of Sports Uncaged. We are going to start off, well, I should say the rest of this radio show, we're going to talk about free agency since it's kind of died down a bit. We're kind of to the conclusion of free agency. So we're going to talk about pretty much every team here with free agency. And so we're going to start off with the ASE East with the Buffalo Bills. Now, some of the main departures of the Buffalo Bills was, of course, Dave Davis. Micah Hyde's gone, Jordan Poirier, Jadavis White. You know, it's weird because, again, this defense is just something that was so good. And now some of the best players are gone, you know? What are your thoughts on the Bills right now? See, like the Bills, that defense was so good until it was time to play Kansas City every year. But the last few playoff, deep playoff runs, those guys are gone now. You know, like Trey White, both of the city. You lose your best corner and you're starting two safeties. That's rough. And then Dave Davis, I know I said this on a previous show, is like, all year, you're like, we need somebody. Like, we need a competent receiver next to Stephon Diggs to take the pressure off of him. Like, just a wide receiver, too. Dave Davis was a ghost, you know, invisible sometimes, on and off. You know, he could go for 150 or he could not have a catch. It was that sort of player. And now he's gone. Who is next to Stephon Diggs? Yeah, exactly. And that's what I'm saying, because Stephon, you know, like, he's good. Regular season, but again, when that playoffs came around, he had that crucial drop. And Stephon, you know, I'm not saying he's getting up there in age, but he's getting a little bit older now-ish. I think he's only going to go down from here, in my opinion. And that's really all the Bills really did. They didn't do much this offseason except let some guys go to free up some cap space. And so we're going to switch it off to the Miami Dolphins, who were really weird this offseason, losing a bunch of guys, but gaining a bunch of guys, you know? Losing a couple guys like Christian Wilkins, who was huge. Same with Jerome Baker, who was very underrated. Great linebacker. Yeah, I mean, great linebacker. Yeah. What are your thoughts on the Dolphins? The Dolphins, they just kind of made a bunch of, they lost a bunch of pieces, but they also shuffled in a good amount of, like, just new talent that's going to take the spot of the positions that they lost, like Christian Wilkins. But losing a guy like that on a defense that was, should have been better than it was last year, honestly. Like, when you look at all the pieces together, it was like Christian Wilkins, Javon Holland, Jalen Ramsey, Xavion Howard. Xavion Howard's gone, too. I forgot to mention that. There's just so many, it's like, are they really going to be better? And with the Dolphins, they're just kind of in this hard spot now, where it's like, Verwindu's there, sort of. You're looming. Like, Tua's extension is looming, what you're going to do with that. And that's obviously huge. But it's like, this is just such a big year for the Dolphins. And I think this draft is going to kind of just rebuild their defense a bit since they've lost so much. I think that's what they're going to have to do. Because you've still got to fill up players right there, but you want them to be on short contracts. You don't want them to be on expensive contracts. Now we're going to move on to a team that's been rebuilding for the past couple of years now, the New England Patriots, who had a decent, a decent, I don't even want to call it decent, a bad offseason. You know, I was trying to get the meaning in there. They had a bad offseason. They lost, I don't even know if this is really much of a loss, Devontae Parker. They lost Mike Kosicki, which in the first place, I didn't even think why they signed Mike Kosicki when you have Hunter Henry. It was pretty decent. Yeah. Then they lose guys like Jalen Mills, who's a very fast cornerback. I just want to know, what is your thought on the Patriots with this lackluster offseason? They just, Patriots and lackluster offseason just go together, man. You know, they never do anything really, except for that one year they threw contracts to Johnny Smith. And Hunter Henry, both at the same time, both got deals, whatever. They just are in such a bad state right now. It's like, yeah, Mike Kosicki's a solid tight end. I really like him signing with the Bengals a lot. He's going to be a sleeper there. Hopefully I'm able to snag him up in fantasy next year at the end of the draft. Sorry, back to the Patriots. They just, they need talent. There's no point in paying these guys who are all veterans that they let go. I mean, Devontae Parker went to the Eagles to be a, at best, wide receiver three or four. These guys are just not that great. They were just starting for the Patriots because they had nobody else. And it's just like, this offseason, they just need to bring in talent. Young talent, really. Right. Like, through the draft. They know they're not contending, or not even remotely close to it. This is a rebuild year, which is something they're not used to. And that's why we're not used to seeing offseasons like this from them. Yeah, and same thing with, I don't want to say the Jets had a bad offseason, but they lost a lot of that D line. But they got Hassan Redick, which is big. I know Eagles fans aren't the biggest fan of Hassan Redick, but they lost Bryce Huff to the Eagles. It's kind of like a replacement for Hassan Redick with the Eagles. Then they lose Carl Lawson, who had a pretty decent season last season. Quinn Jefferson. And then, of course, they lost Bryce Hall as well. So it's weird because this team had a decent offseason, but they lost so many guys on that D line because that's what they were known for, was that D line. What are your thoughts on the Jets? I honestly like the Jets' offseason. They lost a lot of their players defensively, but you pretty much, at the end of the day, they got Hassan Redick for Josh Huff. I almost said Sweat. Yeah. Or Bryce Huff. Yeah, I don't know why I'm thinking about Josh Sweat. But they pretty much traded Redick for Bryce Huff and a third round pick, which were both sides. I really don't hate that, honestly. This defense is already good. The defense, you should just honestly set it and forget it for the Jets. Maybe draft a defensive player second, third round. But other than that, don't touch it. Just let it be. And then they brought in Tyron Smith for the offensive line. Love, love, love that signing. Absolutely. I'm sure Aaron Rodgers was throwing an ayahuasca party when that news broke. I thought that was perfect for them. They do still need a receiver next to Garrett Wilson, in my opinion, which is probably where they, I know Mike Williams, but still. Get someone who can run faster than five seconds. That's a good five games for them with Mike Williams. Yeah. Ravens. Oh, my bad. We're going to switch to the AFC North here. Ravens. I mean, they didn't have to do much, but of course they still had a big signing with Garrett Henry, which is, come on. One of the biggest of the offseason, of course. Evaluating both sides, like they were just an AFC championship game. What moves do you really have to make, honestly? Just kind of wait for another year of development from Save Flowers. Get Mark Andrews back. Odell can walk. Again, probably draft a receiver. Not too early, but later. Just get someone in there. Someone with talent. Maybe a young guy. Just get them going. But obviously, Derrick Henry is going to do so. I am not on the Derrick Henry watch train whatsoever. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes for a smooth 1,500 yards this year. With a way better O-line. Way better, by a long shot. And with Cincinnati Bengals, right? Dee Higgins asked for a trade. Leg lag ain't happening. So he's going to have to play another year unless he just sits out, which could be a possibility, but I doubt it. I think he wants to boost up his stock. His stock, yeah, exactly. Mike Yosiki. Again, like you said, it's huge because with Hayden Hurst, they made Hayden Hurst look really good. They made him look like a pro bowler, and now he went to Carolina, and yeah, well, I mean, that's where all players go to dive, Carolina, but still. I think that's huge. They get Vaughn Bell back, of course, and Trent Brown. That's two tackles that have been mediocre now, with Orlando and now Trent Brown. What are your thoughts on Bengals? Look, Trent Brown's better than what they got, man. Better than what they got. T. Higgins, I feel like if he doesn't get traded on draft day, then he won't get traded at all. But I do think him getting traded during the draft's a real possibility. Maybe Cincinnati is like, we could just sit our hands on here. Do we really want to deal with a situation like this? It might just be best to kind of cut our losses, and on draft day, that's the perfect time to do that. When everybody's active, the draft's obviously going on. It doesn't even have to be a first round pick. You get a second round pick, maybe third, and something else. Yeah, as I say, get some stock. Exactly. Just help bring some more young talent in to fill the voids of some older players that you lost, which is just how, I mean, that's just kind of how it has got to be at this point. We already talked about Gesicki, obviously. I think he was great, underutilized in Miami, and then went on to die in New England. I think he should post a big year and eventually would get re-signed. But Joe Burrow has never had a good tight end. That is absolutely true. But Gesicki on the offense is pretty good. Everyone thought he was top 15 tight end, at least in the NFL, which is solid. And we're going to switch off to the Browns here, just real quick. They didn't have a crazy offseason, but they got Jerry Chudy, again, mid. But he's there. And of course, they re-signed Darius Smith. That was big. That's a big need for them. And that's pretty much it, except Devin Bush, maybe? I mean, it's OK. It's OK. Bringing in Chudy, I like, just to be back up to Omari. Yeah, that's it. We'll be back for the second segment. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina Student Radio Station. We are back for the second segment. We're going to stick with it right here and start off with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had a pretty good offseason, with getting two quarterbacks. Yes, I said two quarterbacks. That could both start, which is weird. You don't ever see that. But they signed Russell Wilson in a one-year deal at lead minimum for a million, which was a win-win for any team in the league, because they didn't have to pay him. Then they get Justin Fields, who has been the talk of the talk this offseason. Again, I don't want to talk about this conversation again with Justin Fields starting. But do you think Justin Fields is going to start over Russ? The Steelers, obviously, in the news so much this offseason because of that. Because when is the last time we ever seen something like this happen? They bring in two of these quarterbacks. And at this point, the loser of this battle's career might be washed. If Justin Fields cannot outperform this stage of Russell Wilson. Backup. Perennial backup. That's what it's looking like, unless he has a Geno Smith-type year, like four years in the future. But that's what it would look like. For Russ, if he loses this battle to Justin Fields, his career is probably just done. You just call it, hang up the cleats, call it quits. I don't think Justin Fields will be starting week one. I think it's going to be Russ, just a veteran. I think they'll probably perform relatively the same in camp. And the Steelers will be probably like, there's going to be so many rumblings out of that camp the second it starts. Oh, Justin Fields played terrible today. Russ was on fire. And then the next day, it's like, dang, Russ threw four picks in practice. Justin Fields had like a 40-yard scramble. That's already going to be here for a couple of months. Actually, they might use those, too. With Justin, they can utilize that RPO if they want to incorporate that with their offense, because we know that that offense has been pitiful the last couple of years. And another signing that I want to talk about, of course, is Patrick Queen. Yeah. Could the Steelers' defense get any better? You know, it's tough. They also got Dante Jackson from the Panthers, who's, you know, mid. He's out there. He's a Panthers fan, mid. But they also made a pretty good signing, underrated signing, that I thought, since the new kickoff rules in the NFL, where returns are more of a thing, they get Cordero Patterson. That's huge. That's honestly big, because you get a return man. You know, that is a pretty good return man, a specialist, you know? And Cordero's really good. What do you think about the Cordero signing with the new rules? Yeah, I'm interested to see how these kickoff rules, I mean, I could ramble about the kickoff rules right now. I'm interested to see how they play out. I get why they changed them. I get why people don't like that they changed them. But at the same time, can it really get any worse than the kickoff last year, where we're just watching a touchback for a second and going back to break? You might as well just start off at the 25 every single time. Exactly. It was literally pointless. But Patterson, yeah, really. I think any speed guy, really, back there is going to be good. We were just talking in between the breaks about Xavier Worthy. Get him out there. Just let him run to the edge. Absolutely. Get with the block. Yeah, and again, it makes special teams more important. You know, you want the right guys out there. You want some good blockers. That's going to be your late round draft picks, you know? Yeah. That'll work for the special teams. We're going to move it on to the AFC South, who, man, these Texans look scary. They had a remarkable offseason, in my opinion. They get a good running back. They get Joe Mixon. They re-sign Noah Brown. Dawn Schultz gets re-signed. Mario Edwards signed to the team. Tim Settle. Daniil Hunter is a Texan. And one of the best, oh goodness, one of the best signings that I think they had, very underrated linebacker, Aziz Alshayer, is on the team now. And that was honestly my favorite signing for them. What was your favorite signing on the Texans overall? My favorite signing overall would just be Mixon. I like the way, or at least in my head, I like the way he's going to compliment Damian Pierce as well, who is coming off of a down year. Maybe you revitalize him, because he's still a strong, big back that should work really well as a change of pace to Mixon. And then Mixon just going to unlock this passing, like the running back passing game with Stroud, you know? More of a, it's just taking even more pressure off of him. Like, yeah, here's this dump down. Take it if you want. He might go for 15. Yeah, again, he's a better receiving back than Hoover. He was a better running back in general than Singletary was. You're getting more than 50 yards a game with Joe Mixon, in the receiving and the running game. And again, with, we know how D'Amico Ryans work. They signed five cornerbacks. Five! Don't get me wrong, they're all mid. But D'Amico might make them into something, you know? With Okuda, CJ Henderson, Desmond, they re-signed Desmond King. And then Mike Ford was another big one that they got. So King, King is getting up there. He's been a serviceable corner for a while. Will he be? I like that they brought in CJ Henderson and Jeff Okuda. Both high draft picks that have not worked out. You put them in a good scheme. We'll see what happens. And then, as you were saying with Aziz Alshayer, great linebacker. Was great on the 49ers. Not last year, the year before. Had a good year in Tennessee. Just another really underrated linebacker that should fill in perfectly on a defense that just needed more playmakers. And again, D'Amico was a linebacker himself in the league. One of the best. A really good linebacker. So he might just help Alshayer become an even better tackler, as we know Alshayer is. And he was with Alshayer when he was the DC of the 49ers. Right, the 49ers, exactly. So a little bit of a relationship right there. We're going to give it a little quick one right here. Very boring offseason for the Colts. Really boring. I mean, snooze fest. Re-signed Michael Pittman. Thought that was genius. I think Michael Pittman is one of the most underrated receivers in the league. He doesn't get talked about enough. Could not let him hit free agency. Exactly. And then with Richardson, Richardson gets his little veteran that'll help him, Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco, comeback player of the year. Good signing. Good signing. I don't know if 8.7 million is probably kind of a waste. In one year, you can deal with it. Yeah, that's true. That's literally it. That's all they really had. And then I have an interesting Colts offseason. But I mean, they do re-sign Kenny Moore, who's very underrated. Great slot corner. Yeah, he's probably the best slot corner in the league. Yeah. Yeah, he doesn't get talked about enough either. Again, the Colts, they don't really have, I mean, they have some problems. But I think they're going to fill that up with a draft this year. Young team. Young team, bright future. We're going to switch it up to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Interesting offseason. Goes back and forth a little bit with me. Eric Arm said huge. That's huge. Big, big signing. They gave Matt, OK, why did I even mention that? Franchise tag Josh Allen. That's big for them because they want to extend him. They signed Gabe Davis. $30 million? Yes. You should pay Calvin Ridley. Yeah, exactly. You should give him $30 million. I think we all were thinking about, like, really? I don't know. $39 million is a lot for the man. I don't think so. We're going to the Titans. Interesting team. This is a very intriguing team. Tony Pollard. Love you, son. Do you think he's going to succeed on that team? I do. I really like Tony Pollard coming in with Brian Callahan, the former offensive coordinator of the Bengals. I'm thinking of a similar to Joe Mixon type role. What I don't like with that, though, is Tajay Spears, the rookie from Tulane, had a solid year, was good in college. He's already that same, like, archetype, you know? So having both of them together, we'll see how that goes. But you get them for cheap. You get them for $8 million. That's also what Derrick Henry signed for, which is, it's like, if you're going to pay a running back that money, why wouldn't you just, you know, make Derrick Henry a Titan for life? Yeah, exactly. Let him retire. Exactly. The Kirk signing, though. Or not Kirk. The Calvin Ridley signing, I mean, was good. I liked it. They definitely paid a lot of money for it. $92 million. But they really needed to. They desperately needed a receiving option, and they're just showing more investment in Will Levis right now, which I don't hate. He didn't come off of a terrible year, coming off of, or being in not great circumstances, for sure. I don't hate this Titans team. I really like the Snead that they brought in Snead. And Chad Abey-Ouzier. Yes, two really good corners. Yeah, to help boost that secondary. You got Jeffrey Simmons in there. They obviously lost Al Shayer, which was, that sucks for them. Especially to a division rival. They get Kenneth Murray, did. Former first rounder. Yeah, right. But, again, I think we're going to fill that up with the draft. You know, maybe get a guy like Peyton Wilson. You know, very intriguing linebacker out of NC State. Past coverage. With the Snead and Ouzier signings, this is making me think it's going to be a past coverage defense. Yeah. Because that's a past coverage heavy, right there. We're going to move on with the Denver Broncos right now for this last part of the segment. Boring. Wow, they are, wow, awful. Dallas Cowboys type of. Awful. Did not do nothing. Pitiful. Bored in the house. Yeah, I mean, what do you, do you think the Broncos are done? They're cooked. They're going to be one of the worst teams to watch in football this year. And you're still paying Russell Wilson like $40 million to not be on your team. Yeah, it's like, man. Josh Reynolds. Not a bad signing. Yeah, I think Josh Reynolds is underrated, but this sucks. Yeah. This sucks for the Broncos. We'll be back talking about the Chiefs after the break. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina Student Radio Station. This is Sports Like Cage. We are back for this third segment. We're going to continue to talk about free agency right here. Kansas City Chiefs. Interesting. Interesting offseason. Marquise Brown. This could be scary, or it could be mid. It's one of the two. Pretty much. It seems pretty scary. Like, I mean, Rashid Rice did just get in legal trouble like yesterday. Right. See what happens there. Probably nothing. Yeah, probably nothing. Hollywood coming in to that Chiefs offense, like, I absolutely hate that he did that, but then, like, if I was him, I would do the exact same thing. The exact same thing, bro. Like, he, oh my God. Andy Reid in that offense is so creative, too. It's like, just get him the ball in space, and he can take off at any moment. He's probably going to be a better MVS from this last year, where he's like, he's just as fast, if not faster, but is a more competent, well-rounded receiver. Way better route running. Way better route running than MVS, and a guy that gets way more separation than MVS. He's to be that Tyree Kill, not, he's not Tyree Kill, don't get me wrong, but he could be up there like Tyree Kill. Again, Chris Jones, I would have done the exact same thing, just throw the money that we have on him. He's too much of a game changer on that defense. You lost Snead. Knowing how they draft, they're going to draft a great cornerback. That's just what they do. Snead, McDuffie, but yeah, losing him for just a third in a pick swap kind of hurts, but at the same time, you had no leverage on a guy who you franchise tagged and wanted to be traded. It's like the T. Higgins. It's exactly the T. Higgins situation. Realistically, he's not going to sit out, but he's not going to want to be there on a team that's good with championship aspirations. That's just not, you cut your loss there. It's like, it sucks we couldn't pay you because we just gave Chris Jones all the money, which is questionable. It is. I like the signing, but it is partly questionable because of his age, but it was like, how could you get rid of him? How could you let Chris Jones just wallow after he's won you a couple Super Bowls now and been a key piece on that defense? Like you said, they've just been such a good drafting team. I'm sure they're going to draft a quarterback early this year. They'll find a way. Raiders, then she was overpay. I'm sorry, 25 million for two years? That's like, what? That could be a starting quarterback. Yeah. I mean, Minshew, exactly. That's what I'm saying. Minshew's a great backup. I mean, great backup QB. I don't think he's a starter though. He ain't QB one. And then Christian Wilkins, that was great. That was good. That was great. I really don't hate the Minshew signing though. Really? Because if their guy isn't there, they don't have the assets to move up and get one of the quarterback. I'm okay with having Minshew roll for a season. That's honestly fair because Minshew's already shown he can play. And he gets Devontae Adams. So I mean, maybe that team could shake up something. Again, they hired, what's his name? The head coach, he was the interim. Oh, I can't think of his name. But Antonio Pierce. Yeah, Antonio Pierce. Great. He was awesome. I thought it was a great signing. He got some momentum in that locker room. I am skipping over the Chargers. They had the worst. Next to the Cowboys. We're in the NFC East now. Oh yeah. Ooh, buddy, the Cowboys. Wow. Listen to this. They have a whopping one signing and that's washed up Eric Hendricks. Disappointing. Jerry Jones is a liar. I mean, honestly, every day that Jerry Jones is in that Cowboys front office is a blessing to everybody else. In the NFC East. Yeah, like. They just, yeah, keep Mike McCarthy around. Give him another year. He just needs one more year, sure, yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't pay Dak, don't do it, whoa. Definitely don't pay C.D. Lamb either. It's all fun and games until Micah Parsons comes to Philly when the contract expires. Let's get that out of here. Giants, those poor, poor Giants. You get Brian Burns though, hey. Their defense is gonna be good. Because that was a need. It wasn't a need, but the value was just there to not. But then you had to extend him and he got a big deal. I don't know, like. That was a lot of money for a guy that only had nine sacks. 13 line is gonna be really good this season. With obviously Burns and then Thibodeau on each side. Like that's an elite, that's a Super Bowl type pass rush right there. It's just the rest of the team is good enough to win for a game. Absolutely, all right, I'm gonna let you carry over with this one. The Philadelphia Eagle. Big off season, huge off season. We talked about Redick and you know it's a business. Things had to be done. You're 29 years old, you have a deal, or you still have a year left on your contract. You're like no, no, no, I need my money right now. I need it right now. I don't care what team I'm on, I need it. I get it, I get it, but you literally signed a deal. Getting old. You're getting old. You didn't have the best year last year. You were great in the year we went to the Super Bowl. You're a great pass rusher. The run defense, not even close. Like not even close. And that caused you to go go sometimes last year. So losing him sucks, it really does. Life goes on now. Life goes on. We're gonna bring in Huff, who's wearing number zero by the way, that's fire. That's fire. Wearing number zero, he's four years younger and we basically got a third round pick for it in exchange with everything. I don't hate it. Obviously Saquon, what more do we have to say about Saquon Barkley? You get a veteran linebacker in Devin White, who's, you know, he's still got a little bit in the tank. He'd probably thrive on that defense. He's only like 26. Yeah. He's very fast, sideline to sideline. Tackle machine, can play a little coverage. Yep. Perfect because our linebackers were terrible last year and really have been every year because they just, the Eagles never invest in the linebacker position for whatever reason. Even the year we won the Super Bowl, our best linebacker was Michael Kendricks and Nigel Bradham, you know, like it's just not something they do. And for them to bring in Devin White on a cheap deal, perfect, love it. Yeah, I thought it was great because it was really cheap. For a guy that was thriving two years ago, he would like see a linebacker two years ago to watch. Yeah, he was really good in the pass coverage, which I don't want to say that's not the Eagles' biggest, you know, I think they need some more tacklers on that team with the linebacker spot, but you get a pass coverage guy, and it opens up more for that playbook on the defense. For sure. Washington Commanders. They signed the 2018 Super Bowl roster. I told you, if this was five years ago, this team's going somewhere, man. It's just, I don't know, man. I get you have pass space to spend, it's like you might as well spend it, but like really, like do you have to? Yeah. Realistically, yeah, Bobby Wagner, sure. He's been okay since he left Seattle and then went back to Seattle. It's been all right, but like when Seahawks fans are even like, yeah, like I didn't want to re-sign Bobby Wagner, I wanted to join the coaching staff, like that, your playing days are over. Like, going to Washington, take your quick bag, even if he is a good linebacker, they're not in a position to make a run this year. What is it for? Same thing with Austin Eckler, like I don't, I would rather you just take Brian Robinson to backfield. Exactly, Brian Robinson ain't bad. He's a good running back, just give him a chance. And they got a lot of O-line help this off-season with some of the guys that Al Greddy and then Bidas. Those are good signings. Those are good signings. I honestly think the best signing they have, and oh, it hits home, Frankie Lou Vu. It was a really good signing for them. Frankie Lou Vu is very underrated. He's very young, great tackler. Yeah, I want it on the Eagles coming into the off-season. And he's getting better in the pass coverage. He's an all-around threat. We're going to switch it off to the NFC North and boy, oh boy, the Chicago Bears. Are they a wonderful off-season, man. They had a great off-season. They did, they really did. Kenan Island, what? For nothing. Nothing. You got to pay them, but for nothing. Yeah, they get Ryan Bates, who's, you know, he's all right, but that's O-line help. Much needed. Yeah, much needed. Again, Kerhan Pryor and then Shelton. Again, more O-line help. Gerald Everett might be thriving. Over there. That's a wild take, but I'm serious. Gerald Everett is a, just, he's a professional, you know. He goes from his team to team deal now, but he goes and he produces. Cole Kmet came in, high expectations. Has not lived up to him, really. He hasn't been bad. I'm not saying he's been bad. And I'm not saying he was in a good system, but he just has not lived up to the expectations based on where you drafted him. Give him another guy that, you know, even if he just like, takes some of the pressure off of him for a little bit, like show him like the little ins and outs, even if it's just for a year or two. Absolutely. And then Keenan Allen, man. You're gonna get your rookie, your generational rookie quarterback, a guy that knows just how to get open. Yeah. That's what he does. And then DJ Moore too, my goodness. That's a great one too. I like Swift too. Swift was good. Yeah. For cheap, not too, too expensive. And then Roshan Johnson, the Texas running back that they had. He showed some solid, I mean for, he was a running back too in college. Yeah. And he's a big dude. He's gonna play well next to Swift. Yeah, exactly. You know, Kevin Byard, he's a veteran. I mean, it's not much. You know, it's a lot of money, but again, we'll come back after this break and talk about the Lions. You're listening to WCC Radio, Coastal Carolina Student Radio Station. We are back for this outro. We're gonna continue with this free agency real quick. We only got a couple more teams left. Let's talk Detroit Lions. I got one signing I wanna talk about. That's DJ Reader. Great sign. They get some inside help. They get some inside help. DJ Reader is very good for the Bengals, right? Yeah, Bengals. He was very good for the Bengals. And what are your thoughts on DJ Reader signing with that team? He's gonna be great on the interior. Obviously, the edge with Hutchinson already there. And I slept on James Houston on the other side. Young bull. Yeah. I like him. You know, now your line's relatively young still. And just having somebody for Hutchinson to play with on the interior, you know? Like, that's gonna be huge. I'm sure DJ Reader's gonna eat up sacks just from Hutchinson forcing whatever quarterback up in the pocket, because DJ Reader's just gonna be there taking up space. That's what he does, you know? Exactly. Another team I wanna talk about. They did so little, but man, did it pack a punch. Packers. Yeah. Did so little, but boy, did it pack a punch, because I'm pretty sure they just filled every need that they do. They don't really have any needs on that team anymore, except O-line now, since Batyari's gone. But Josh Jacobs, J. Bear McKinney, amazing signings. They lost Aaron Jones, which, eh. I thought they were gonna ride with the Aaron Jones, Josh Jacobs. I thought that was gonna be the deal. I did too. That's what we were talking about during the show when that happened. That was like, literally out of left field when that happened. Crazy 27 minutes before he got released. Yeah. I'm gonna skip over the Vikings here, because like we said, I think that's another show that we're gonna talk about after the draft, how the Vikings will be. Boy, oh boy, did the Falcons have a good off-season. Yeah. Kirk Cousins, Ray Ray McLeod, Darnell Mooney, Rondell Moore, who, Rondell Moore has a very high ceiling. These guys might change this team, because Kirk Cousins might throw it to the Threats, and that whole office might be different. Yeah. What are your thoughts on the Kirk signing? Okay, he is the 34-year-old quarterback that can't move coming off of the 20 kilos. That is true. But he gets the ball to his playmakers, and that's all Atlanta needs. Exactly, and last team, gotta be my team. Gotta be my team. Okay, and I didn't do that on purpose. It's just a list. They did NFC South last. Carolina Panthers, Deontay Johnson. Yes, you lost Dante Jackson. That's okay, because we know receiver help was needed. It was the need. For sure. It was the need. Deontay Johnson gets separation. That's good. He could be a wide receiver, too. Robert Hunt, like you said during the break, gotta get him. You paid him a lot of money, but it's because you had to. Right, exactly. You had to. And again, I want to get your opinion on the Jadeveon Clowney signing. Look, it doesn't make sense for them in the long term. No, not at all. Maybe two years. You didn't pay him that much money. That's okay. But he comes home, maybe wraps up his career there, and just bolsters the line for now. Exactly, I mean, South Carolina legend, you know? He's staying in the Carolinas. We'll be back next week. This has been Sports Engaged.
