The speaker reflects on the challenges of finding the perfect time to pursue a task or goal. They share their own experience of feeling overwhelmed and realizing that there will never be a perfect time to start. They encourage listeners to focus on who they need to be in difficult situations and to maintain momentum by consistently taking action. The speaker emphasizes the need to not let obstacles control decisions and to make better choices despite emotions running high. They also highlight the importance of not giving up when things don't go perfectly and instead, focusing on being good overall and making progress. The key message is to prioritize consistency and constant momentum rather than seeking perfection. What is happening team? How are we doing? Welcome to episode 15 of the Extra Mile podcast. No lie man, like, I actually put last week's podcast as like episode 13 and it confused the fucking life out of me because I had two episode 13s and like, you just know what it takes you when it comes to fucking numbers and that and all that. Like, what the fuck is going on, man? But guys, what I wanted to talk about this week, man, is like, there's not going to be a perfect time, okay? So, what I've noticed over the past couple of weeks, especially ourselves in that customer site, because obviously we have been doing a lot of travelling about, everything's been a bit frantic and that kind of stuff, right? And I'm like, fucking hell, man, I wish I never signed up to do this big massive task because it's just taking so much energy away and I can't actually like focus on it. And I was sitting thinking, I was like going, Kieran, there was never going to be a perfect time. Like, if I was still back in Scotland and I was training to run the length of Scotland, like, there would still be stuff coming up. I would still be getting put all over the place, man, like, I'd be spending time with like friends and that kind of stuff and just doing different stuff. And I was thinking to myself, going, like, there would be never any perfect time to actually do this. So, I may as well just go all in with it, man. And like, I think a lot of us can like, look for the perfect week and be like, okay, that's what needs to happen. It's not going to happen, guys. You're going to have obstacles coming up, man. Like, I know a few of you guys have been ill recently. Do you know what I mean? Maybe a few of you guys have picked up a few niggles. I know a few of you guys have picked up a few niggles or like, stress has been taken over. You've been a bit overwhelmed and that kind of stuff. And like, what you need to understand is, with that guy is like, that's going to happen constantly. Like, it's just going to always be there. But it's like, remember what we were saying last week on the Monday Reset. It's like, not what do you need to do, it's who do you need to be. Okay, like, who do you need to be in that situation so you can still push that niggle forward. And like, as well, guys, right, what I want you to do is see if you lose momentum, you end up being a bit overwhelmed. You're like, fuck, right, what's happened this week? I want you to focus on that one thing that's going to push it forward again. So, I mean, most people, right, is getting up early. So, I mean, is getting up on that first alarm. And that's what builds that momentum again. Then we can bring it back into the swing, you guys. And it's like, as we were talking about last night, this is a whole momentum game, okay? If you can build some serious momentum, you will continue to push forward. Even if you don't think you're doing as much as what you were doing at the start, okay? So, think about this going forward, guys, okay? Like, everything that happens during the week, right? How often do you let it control your decisions? And once that starts to happen, guys, and once you become more aware of it, right, you can make the better decisions, right? Maybe not the right decision, but you can make better decisions, okay? Because, remember, always when emotion is high, judgment is low, okay? And if we can become aware and accept that, unfortunately, shit's going to get in the way, remember, that shit's not linear, the better. Because, as I say, guys, too many of us focus on having a perfect week, and then when it doesn't happen by Wednesday, we kind of chuck it to one, we go, oh, fuck, what was the point? I may as well just touch up, do you know what I mean? And that's not the attitude we want, and that's not the mindset we want, okay? What we want to do is go, okay, that's just happened, that's a bit of an alphabetic sound, that's myself down, go again, okay? It's like today as well, guys, right? I had X amount to run today, but I am absolutely shattered, so I didn't run the full distance, okay? I ran, like, 5K short, okay? And it's cool, but I know I need the rest of the week to keep it pushing forward, and it's just having that mindset of going, right, it might not be perfect, but what can I actually do? Because at the end of the day, stuff is always going to get in the way. Stuff is always going to happen, but the more you can navigate that and be aware of what needs to be done to push that needle forward, do you know what I mean? So as we say, guys, don't live perfect, get in the way of being good. If you can be good across the board, man, you will make progress, do you know what I mean? And if you can keep on top of the basics and the stuff that you can control, like your tracking, like your movement, like your training, all that kind of stuff, guys, you will continue to push the needle forward, man. So again, guys, don't look for the perfect time, don't look for the perfect opportunity, focus on being good across the board and focus on building constant momentum at all times.
