The time is four o'clock. I am Maria Kantamashabane. Good afternoon. The Pretoria High Court in Gauteng is set to deliver the judgment in the Life E.C.D. Maney inquest on Friday. The inquest was for the court to determine the cause of the death of 141 patients transferred from Life E.C.D. Maney facilities to a non-government organization in 2015 and 2016. The findings of the inquest also seek to determine whether anyone should be held accountable for the death. The National Prosecuting Authority will then decide whether to pursue criminal prosecution after the judgment. The Pretoria Specialized Commercial Crimes Court in Gauteng granted bail of 150,000 rent to the former chief financial officer of Steinhoff today. Andres Litsch-Gresch faces two counts of ricket trading 5,000 of the fort, one count of corruption and three counts of contraband in the Financial Market Act. Hoax spokesperson Colin Gatlejo-Machalis says the 49-year-old was granted bail with conditions. Machalis says Legrand and another Steinhoff accused are expected back in court on October 4th. Clancy appeared alongside his co-accused Stephanos Yohannes Kroblam, 74, former head of treasury. Kroblam was arrested on the 22nd of March 2024 and appeared in court on the 23rd of March where he was granted 150,000 rent bail. Today he appeared again for postponement and review of his bail condition. Two South African Defense Forces NDF soldiers were killed and others wounded in a motor attack at a base in Cirque in Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday. The Tactical Intelligence Captains were part of the Southern African Region Force on the peacekeeping mission in the DRC. In February, two soldiers were killed during an attack at the same base. This brings the total number of deaths within the semi-DRC to about 12 since the force deployed to the DRC in December. The leader of Economic Freedom Fighters Julius Malema has called on Kenyan President William Ruto to withdraw the 2024 financial bill. Kenyans have been protesting against the bill which seeks to impose tax increases. The increases are recommendations from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The EFF claims this institution imposed austerity measures on the African countries that cripple growth and development, leading to widespread poverty and show social unrest. Malema previously raised his concern about Ruto's action at the launch of the Pan-African Institute at Lukenian University last year. The Department of Home Affairs says that it will declare the all green ID book invalid in the near future. Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motoledi spoke to the ENCA this past week. Motoledi says that the time has come for the country to do away with the green barcode ID. The department intended to phase out the green ID booklets from 2018 to 2022. However, the rollout of smart IDs have been slowly and slow with only 21 million issued by the end of last year.
