The Greatest Education - Acts 7:20-22

Stephen continues his address to the religious court, discussing the birth and adoption of Moses. He highlights how Moses was saved through water, similar to baptism, and how he left his education and position in Egypt to be counted among God's people. The scripture emphasizes that true wisdom is found in the Lord and among humble believers. While education is important, the greatest education comes from being taught by the Holy Spirit. We're in Acts chapter 7, verses 20-22, this is Stephen's address, he's continuing to address the religious court he was called into, and he's talking about the birth and the adoption of Moses. Now, in this section of the scripture, he's recounting this history about Moses, how he was born to be the deliverer of Israel, and he was born during a time when Israel was being persecuted by the Egyptians, and their male babies were being thrown in the river, and Moses' parents put him in a basket, and they put him in the river, and he was discovered by the Egyptian princess, and was saved out of the water, and actually his name Moses actually means saved out of the water, or brought out of the water. We see here a good picture of baptism in this story, how he was saved through the water, and we see this again later on in Moses' life, when Israel was saved through the Red Sea, they went into the water and came out on the other side, destroyed Pharaoh's armory in the Red Sea, but Moses and his people were saved through the water, just like we go back in the story about Noah and the Ark, how the world was destroyed by water, but Moses and his family were saved through the water. So this is a good picture of baptism, how baptism symbolizes that we have been crucified with Christ, we die with Christ, we were buried with Christ, and we've been risen together with Christ to a new life. Also another thing this scripture talks about is how Moses was learned and instructed in all the education, he received an education as a prince of Egypt, and we have to compare this kind of education with, Paul was another man in the New Testament who was educated, but Paul said that he counted everything, all of his religion and all of his education as dumb compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus the Lord, and so we see also how Moses, he left all the education and the power and the riches and the position of Egypt to be counted among God's humble people, to suffer affliction with God's people. So we see here that there is true wisdom in the Lord, and amongst God's people, and in the fellowship of God's humble saints, we find the true wisdom, and that wisdom and that knowledge is in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is the embodiment of all knowledge and wisdom, as the scripture says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So all the, you know, it's good to get an education, it's not bad to get an education, but just remember that the greatest education we can get is in the school of the Holy Spirit. That's the greatest education you'll ever get is to be taught by the Lord, and to learn what is true and what is right according to the Lord, amen.
