The speaker recommends the Magic School Bus series because it combines fun and learning about science. They enjoyed the adventures and diverse characters, and think it's important for all kids to feel included. For more advanced students, they suggest the Percy Jackson series, which is fictional but also educational about Greek gods. The grade levels are higher than the Magic School Bus, but it can still be enjoyable and informative. So would I recommend this book? Yes, I recommend this series because students can feel bored about learning about science. I know I did and I know that my favorite part about elementary school was when I'd either watch an episode of Magic School Bus or I'd read a novel or a different part of the series because it's fun to have a balance between fun and learning. Not only was I learning about these different science topics, it was fun to see the magic of the school bus and all those different things that they did and their adventures. And it's important for all kids to feel as if they can travel with Ms. Frizzle. Since there are so many diverse characters in the books and the series, it's important for all kids, no matter what they look like, to feel as if they can travel with Ms. Frizzle. For a next series, if they're feeling more advanced, I would recommend the Percy Jackson series because I read this in the fourth grade and I think it's a perfect match because it's a fictional series including magic and learning, which is exactly what Magic School Bus is, but for younger kids. Because Percy Jackson is fictional because of the magic that he has, but it's also educational because you're learning about the Greek gods, which is important, you know, as a young adult or an adolescent in the fourth and fifth grade. And the grade levels are for fifth through eighth grade compared to the Magic School Bus grades one through three. It's a pretty big jump in the form of words and literature, but if a student is feeling more advanced, I'm pretty sure they can pick it up because they'll have fun learning about the magic of Percy Jackson, but also learning real facts about Greek gods.
