The Everything Bored podcast show offers ideas, advice, tips, and tricks to help cure boredom. Exercising is a great way to overcome boredom and release endorphins, which improve mood. The podcast suggests a fun workout called the Spell Your Name Workout, where each letter corresponds to an exercise. Another exercise idea is the EMOM, every minute on the minute, which involves completing a set of exercises within a minute and resting for the remainder. Yoga and stretching can also help relax the mind and body. Spending time in nature, playing fitness games on gaming consoles, or learning new skills are other ways to stay active and entertained. Do you ever get bored and have no idea what to do? Hi, I'm your host Olivia Del Fras, and welcome to the Everything Bored podcast show, where we might just help, cure or fix your boredom. If you're someone like myself, who is constantly getting bored and has no idea how to entertain yourself, then you have come to the right place. In the Everything Bored podcast show, I will share with you some ideas, advice, tips and tricks that can help you find your entertainment or something to spend your time with, other than homework and studying. On our second episode of the Everything Bored podcast show, I've made for you a fun workout that will keep you entertained for quite some time. This exercise will not only help you overcome your boredom, but your body will definitely thank you for it. When you do exercise, similar to the chemical called serotonin that we talked about in the last episode, but your brain releases endorphins. Endorphins make you happy, feel better, improve your mood. Sitting on technology when you're bored, as much as you're going to want to do so, but it's actually a very bad way of trying to cure your boredom. Endorphins are released when you're exercising or moving about. Exercises make you feel less sluggish, tired and more into the day because of these endorphins. The hardest part of exercising is definitely getting your shoes on and motivating yourself to actually get active. Trust me, as soon as you get off the couch and get your socks on to put your shoes on, you will definitely feel in the active vibe. But how do I get myself to this stage? Firstly, think about all the positives and focus on them. For an example, I'm going to feel much better. My body is definitely going to thank me for it and I can become stronger and my mood will be so much better. Focus your mind on this. Next, get a good playlist going. Choose all your favourite upbeat songs for you to do your workout to. Not only will this motivate you, but it will also give you a good beat or rhythm to workout to, making it much more enjoyable. OK, now that you are motivated and have your shoes on, I'm going to share with you a fun workout idea that I've made for you. I'm introducing the Spell Your Name Workout. How this works is that I give you all the letters of the alphabet and next to it I'll give you an exercise and how many of those to do. Listen out for your letters and your name. So, A, 15 push-ups, B, 50 jumping jacks, C, 20 crunches, D, 10 burpees, E, a 60 second wall sit, F, 20 arm circles, G, 20 squats, H, 30 jumping jacks, I, 60 second plank, J, 20 mountain climbers, K, 40 crunches, L, 12 burpees, M, 15 squats, N, 10 push-ups, O, 20 lunges, P, 10 tricep dips, Q, 20 jumping jacks, R, a 45 second plank, F, 30 second bicycle crunches, T, 45 second wall sit, U, 40 high knees, V, 30 squats, W, 15 tricep dips, X, 10 mountain climbers, Y, 12 jumping jacks, and Z, 30 crunches. For an example, I'll use my nickname, Liv, L-I-V. The L was 12 burpees, the I was 60 second plank, and the V was 30 squats. So I can do that for my challenge. But if you're looking for more of a challenge, you can spell out your first, middle, and last name. If you wanted to, you can modify it, or even make your own. Do this workout to your favorite playlist and songs. For this next exercise, I have decided a thing called an EMOM, every minute on the minute. So that basically means, set a one minute reoccurring timer, get the exercises and the amount to do done, and then the rest of the time that you have, you get to rest. And then once the one minute timer starts again, you go on to the new exercise, and then repeat. The following exercise includes, you can modify them a bit if you want, 40 shoulder taps, 10 commandos, 5 dips, 40 Russian twists, 25 weighted or not weighted sit-ups, 30 leg raises, 40 bicycle crunches, 35 or 40 second plank, 30 toe touches, 40 side toe touches, 60 bicycle kicks, 60 mountain climbers, fast, 20 squats and knee ups, 5 burpees, 20 scissor kicks, 4 times, and another plank. See how long you can hold this for. Repeat this 2 to 4 times depending on what you feel like. If you're not into the hardcore workout kind of style, another path you can go down is yoga and stretching. This can help relax your mind and stretch out your body so you can feel more fresh. Some of my favorite yoga poses include the bridge pose, the cobra, slow plank to high plank, aiming to stretch out your ankles so they're touching the ground, cat-cow pose, the tree, warrior, high lunge and chair pose. If you're unsure about how to do these poses, feel free to look them up or look up any others that might interest you. Maybe try to spend some time in nature. Go out adventuring down a new street that you've never been to, see where that ends. Memorize a few K's for a run, walk or bike ride that you can take. You can listen to music whilst you do that or look up and just enjoy nature. You can find a really cute park or hidden bush area that you can make as your quiet spot where you go to wherever you're bored. At home, my sister and I have a Nintendo Switch. Some of you guys might have a Nintendo, PS or Xbox. If you really can't drag yourself away from those technologies, try using it to your advantage by downloading a fitness app on there. Me and my sister have one on our Nintendo that we like to play on either when the weather's bad or when we just can't be bothered to go outside. But do yourself a favour and connect it to a bigger screen like a TV so your eyes don't get too sore from watching. If you don't have a Nintendo Switch or PS or Xbox, you can still go online on Google and search for some fitness videos that you can follow. Those are also really helpful as well if you can't be stuffed to get outside. Another great way to keep active is to learn another skill, whether that be if you've got a trampoline, learning how to do a flip or if you've got a swimming pool, maybe learning how to swim properly or things like that. You can research online and there's heaps of great ideas that can help you get started. Just make sure you know where your limits are so you don't get hurt or damage anything. In our second episode of the Everything Board Podcast Show, I shared with you some really fun ideas and tricks that can help you keep active to release the endorphins to make you feel happy. Thank you so much guys for tuning in today for our second episode and hopefully we'll see you next time. I'm your host, Olivia Del Proff, and you're listening to the Everything Board Podcast Show. Thanks for listening. See you soon.
