Do you ever get bored and have no idea what to do? Hi, I'm your host Olivia Del Fras and welcome to the Everything Bored podcast show where we might just help, cure or fix your boredom. If you're someone like myself who is constantly getting bored and has no idea how to entertain yourself then you have come to the right place. In the Everything Bored podcast show I will share with you some ideas, advice, tips and tricks that can help you find your entertainment or something to spend your time with other than homework and studying. For our very first episode of the Everything Bored podcast show I've handpicked some recipes for you to try that all your family and friends will love. As much as you're going to hate me after saying this but eating junk food and high sugary foods is the worst possible thing that you can do for our bodies. We see our bodies produce a chemical called serotonin. Serotonin is a chemical that controls our happiness, our mood and even our memory. You would be surprised to know that 95% of this chemical is actually found in your gut and that's why it is so important to eat wholesome and high nutrition foods in order to boost our mood. The following recipes that I'll be sharing with you today are all ones that you can access online that all your families will love. First up we have the sweet one but an oldie, the choc chip cookies. This divine choc chip cookie from https://www.taste.com.au will have you fall in love immediately. The following ingredients include 125g of unsalted butter, softened, 1 firmly packed cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 egg, 1.5 cups of plain flour, half a teaspoon of baking powder, 100g of baking dark chocolate, roughly chopped and 100g of baking white chocolate, roughly chopped. If you want to substitute the chocolate for a healthier option, you can substitute it for raisins or nuts, depending on which one you prefer. First off what you want to do is preheat the oven to about 180 degrees Celsius and line it with a tray with the baking paper. First put the butter and the brown sugar in an electric mixer until it's pale and thick and then add the vanilla extract, egg and then beat until well combined. Sift the flour and the baking powder and about a pinch of salt and gently fold it into the mixture to combine it. Next you want to stir the chunks of choc chips or your chosen flavour into the mixture. Place a spoonful of mixture on the tray until the mixture is finished then place it in the oven for about 15-20 minutes depending on how much you like your cookies cooked. I like mine really crunchy. Transfer them to a rack for about 5 minutes to cool. So for more information you can go to https://www.taste.com.au Another amazing recipe that we've got installed for you today will fill you up and keep you abloat and why are these instant frozen berry yoghurt balls from https://www.bbcgoodfood.com. This just 3 ingredient recipe will make you want to keep on making it forever. You start off with 250g of frozen mixed berries, 250g of Greek yoghurt, 1tbsp of honey, maple syrup or any of your favourite sweeteners. First off start by placing all your ingredients in a blender. Blend for about 20 seconds until it comes into a smooth ice cream texture and then serve into bowls and top with your favourite muesli or fruit. That's it, you're done. You don't even have to freeze the frozen yoghurt because the frozen berries will freeze it for you. So to get the full recipe you go to https://www.bbcgoodfood.com. Another fun but quite a messy recipe to make is the apple and peanut butter bliss balls. These ones do contain nuts so for those of you who have nut allergies please be aware. The recipe which you can find on https://www.eatingwell.com contains 1 cup of pitted dates, 1 1⁄4 cup of old fashioned rolled oats, 1⁄4 cup of chopped dried apple, 1⁄2 cup of unsweetened apple sauce, 1⁄3 cup of unsalted unsweetened smooth peanut butter, 1⁄3 cup chopped walnuts and toasted, 1⁄2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice plus more for dusting and 1⁄2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. So if you don't have the pumpkin spice you can just add cinnamon instead. First up put the dates in a small bowl with hot water and cover them. Let them soak until they are soft, this will take about 10 minutes, and then drain and pat dry with a paper towel. Pulse the dates in a food processor until it's a coarse paste and then add the oats, dried apple, apple sauce, peanut butter, walnuts, pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon and then the vanilla extract. Pulse the ingredients together until it comes together and clumps, stopping each few seconds to scrape down the sides. After this, roll the mixture into small balls, about 2½ tablespoons each and lightly sprinkle with cinnamon or the pumpkin spice. Refrigerate until firm or for 20 minutes. You can find this recipe on https://www.eatingwell.com. Everybody loves a good muffin. So I picked out this really nice recipe from https://www.tasteofhome.com. This really nice cinnamon muffin recipe will quickly become a crowd favourite. For this recipe you'll need about a third cup of butter, half a cup of sugar, one large egg, one and a half cups of all purpose flour, two teaspoons of ground cinnamon, one and a half teaspoons of baking powder, half a teaspoon of salt, quarter of a teaspoon of ground nutmeg, half a cup of milk and for the topping it's three tablespoons of melted butter, half a cup of sugar and one and a half teaspoons of ground cinnamon. If you want to substitute the brown sugar for a healthier option that will also be a good idea. Start off by creaming the sugar and the butter in a small bowl until it's light and fluffy and then beat in the egg and combine the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add to the cream mixture with the milk and then combine. Fill the greased muffin cups until about half full because it rises and then bake at 350 degrees celsius for about 15 to 20 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean. For the topping add the melted butter to a small bowl and in another bowl mix the sugar and cinnamon. This is the fun bit, dip the muffin into the butter and then into the cinnamon sugar. This recipe is best served warm. For more tips and tricks for this recipe look at https://www.tasteofhome.com.
