The Society of the Friends of the Blacks was an association created in 1788 with the goal of immediately abolishing the slave trade of Black individuals, but not necessarily slavery itself. The "Adresse à l'Assemblée nationale, pour l'abolition de la traite des Noirs" is a document dated February 5, 1790, that was presented to the French National Assembly. The document advocated for the immediate abolition of the slave trade of Black individuals, while also considering the economic impact on French colonies.
