

St. Ignatius Loyola
St. Ignatius of Loyola, born in 1491 and passing away on July 31, 1556, was a Spanish knight hailing from a Basque noble family. He led a diverse life, starting as a hermit and later becoming a priest in 1537. Loyola was not only a theologian but also the founder of the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits. Serving as its first Superior General, Ignatius played a significant role in the religious movement known as the Counter-Reformation. Throughout his life, Loyola's unwavering dedication to the Catholic Church was marked by his complete obedience to the Pope.
