Many of us fall into the habit loop of overthinking, whether if it's replaying a recent disagreement, stressing about the future, or getting caught in the swirl of what ifs. These thoughts can occupy a space where you deserve more peace and calm. In the midst of overthinking, it can feel almost impossible to ground yourself and find a calmer state of mind, but that's exactly what we're going to focus on today. My intention with this meditation is to help you shift from an overactive mind to a place of heart and body awareness, where you can release control and simply allow yourself to be guided. Now gently settle into a position that feels comfortable, that feels grounding. You can either soften your gaze or close your eyes completely, if that feels okay to you. Take a moment to notice the swirl of thoughts in your mind, observing them without judgment, just as a curious observer. You can ask yourself, what is replaying in my mind right now? Where in my body do I sense the worry? In this moment, you might become more aware of the narrative you're telling yourself. And remember, you do not deserve to be weighed down by your own thoughts. The stories we tell ourselves are important. You can reframe that story. So now let's reframe that story with the support of affirmations. Affirmations being a practice thought that you might not believe at first, but eventually the message will be woven in, combined with your breath. On your next inhale, you can inhale the affirmation, I am safe. And as you exhale, I am here now. Inhale, I am safe. Exhale, I am here now. Now you can ease into your regular breath, releasing the affirmations. Each time you consciously inhale and exhale, you affirm to yourself that you will be okay, and that no amount of worrying or over-analyzing can change what has already happened or control what lies ahead. Remember that everyone is preoccupied with their own worries, so maybe it's time you allow yourself to release the overthinking energy, knowing you did your best. Whenever you find yourself lost in thought, give yourself permission to find a moment of silence, a place of stillness, where your body and mind can root down. I want you to take a moment to thank yourself for being brave, allowing pause, which might feel scary in the beginning, but now you might notice the shift, the sense of calm that comes with this simple practice of pausing, rooting down, connecting to your own breath in this present moment.
