A learning project can help us understand and practice trust. We should define what it means to be trustworthy and then reflect on our actions. We should think about how we have supported trust, how we have driven trust, and situations where we have been trustworthy. It's important to be aware of our actions and strive to be trustworthy. Trust is difficult for people, as we don't consciously think about it every day. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we may unintentionally lose trust. To build trust, we should have a clear definition and regularly discuss our actions related to trust. So, a great learning project is to tie the actions to trust. So, when you have a definition of what it means to be trustworthy, your trust values, a great teammate's trust values, a learning project could be, what are two things you did to really support that definition of trust? What are two things that you did to drive trust? What are a situation or potentially a situation where you had to be very trustworthy that you felt went well and maybe didn't go as well as you thought? Tie that learning project, build that awareness, plant that seed of being trustworthy. So, that's tough for people. That's very tough for people. Most people don't go into work saying, I'm going to be trustworthy today. Yet, we get into some situations where a teammate come up to us, we're not prepared, and they say, hey, did you get my report? It looked pretty good, huh? What they're really saying is, please say yes. All of a sudden, you go, yeah, yeah, it was pretty good. They walk away and you say, man, it wasn't that good, the graphs were off. You've lost trust. Doesn't mean you're a liar, doesn't mean you're lacking integrity. We get put in some very precarious positions. So, the way you instill trust is make sure you have a definition, and then have people share with you on a weekly, bi-weekly basis what they're doing as it relates to your definition of trust.
