Dr. William Manor, a fish psychologist, talks about various animal-related events happening around the world. In the UK, people patrol migratory crossings to save toads from being killed on roads. In a golf course, a golf cart had a close encounter with an alligator. In Texas, around 200 goats escaped after being brought in to chew grass in a park. Wranglers were hired to collect the goats. Lastly, the conversation is abruptly cut off as one of the seals playing soccer gets stuck in a net. It's that time of week again, I mean we had it last Friday, I figured we'd do it again this Friday. We need a professional, things happen around the world with animals and I'm in no way near qualified. But a man who is, is Dr. William Manor, he has a Masters in Fish Psychiatry at Downaloo Veterinary Hospital here in New South Wales. Good morning and welcome back. Good morning Keegan, great to be on the show again. Ah thank you, thank you, it's just wonderful to have your company on the program. Where, I can hear at the back, where are you? Where are you today? Sorry if you can't hear me that well, I'm actually at the Bourke Racecourse for some football training with the local Seals. When you say Seals, what, like a football team? Yeah, I've got a football team of Seals, they were really sort of energised after watching the Matildas game a couple of nights ago and I've just taken them out for some training in Bourke. Bourke, yes, Bourke is a place where I'd normally imagine Seals, yes, yes of course. Yeah, they're local to the area. Ah right, okay, that's from your professional opinion. Yes, oh yes, I am a fish psychologist after all. Yes, of course, yes. What's happening around the world today? Well, unlike what you might think a toad patrol might mean in Australia, in the UK, toad patrols are done to actually save toads, Keegan. They're done to save toads, so toad patrol for their own safety? Yes, it's noted that about 250,000 toads are killed in UK roads every year and so people patrol the migratory crossings. Now, I believe if you did this in Australia, you'd be hung, dried and quartered. I don't think anyone would be giving you any respect. Well, I mean, it's their toads. 250,000 are killed by cars in the UK every year. Yes. Well, we could probably learn something from that. Speaking of driving, a golf cart has had a close call with a pursuing alligator. Pursuing alligator? Yes, a pursuing alligator. So, the golf cart wasn't following the alligator, the alligator was following a golf cart? Yes. Right, and how close of a call was it? It was all caught on tape and you can see the golf cart sort of nearly driving into a body of water as an alligator is on pursuit and the alligator, from images I can get here, it doesn't seem that big. Right, so they thought to escape a creature that is going to try and eat them while they're playing a round of golf, they would drive into the exact body of water that the animal probably came from? Oh, exactly. My favourite line is, the driver was able to speed past the reptile. Well, apparently in the UK they're speeding over the toads, so it's happening everywhere. Speaking of everywhere... Yeah, what a great link that is. Wow, I'd do some segways on this show, but yes, speaking of everywhere, speaking of everything. Anyway, you were saying? Well, goats are everywhere in Texan neighbourhoods right now, there was about 200 on the loose. 200? A swarm? Is it called a swarm? What's your professional opinion? It's called a swarm of goats by the sound of this article. Right, so they fly now in a swarm? Goats have been swarming Texan neighbourhoods. About 200 goats were on the loose. They were originally brought in to substitute a lawnmower pretty much and chew grass around a park and then... They've escaped, it's actually prison break. Arlington Police Department actually reported on this incident and warned all the local neighbourhoods about the goats and they had to hire wranglers to collect... They had to hire what? Sorry, is that the technical term? Wranglers, yeah. Goat wranglers. Goat wranglers, yeah. Right, OK. I don't want to know what's involved in wrangling a goat. Sounds quite involved to be honest, especially if there's a swarm of them. Now, unfortunately, because the seals are playing soccer, they don't like to be goalies because they sit near a net. And unfortunately, I think... OK, oh God, OK. One of them has run into the net and got stuck. I have to go. Oh, right, OK. Before it accidentally wrangles or strangles itself, alright.
