The speaker decided to participate in Work-Based Learning to have a job and be able to pay for gas, food, hang out with friends, and save for college. They found completing work in their earlier years of high school challenging due to the heavy workload. However, it paid off as they were able to only take three classes in their last year of high school. They doubled up on science classes in junior year, allowing them to leave early and go to work to make money. So, I decided to do Work-Based Learning because I wanted to be able to have a job so I'm able to pay for gas, food, hang out with my friends, saving up for college. Completing work in my earlier years of high school was, it was a little bit challenging just because I had so many classes and like all the work was so heavy in those classes. But it paid off for me to be able to only take three classes my last year of high school. Like my junior year, I doubled up on science classes, I took physics and zoology so I could get that out of the way and then only have to take lit statistics and econ my senior year and then I can leave and go to work and make money.
