Coffee Break (5 Minutes with God) Romans14:22,23

Welcome to Coffee Break, Five Minutes with God, Five Minutes in the Word of God, Five Minutes Designed to Taste and See that the Lord is Good, Romans chapter 14 beginning in verse 22 today, where God says, Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. Don't try to shove your Christian liberty or your Christian convictions down the throat of someone who's not ready for it yet. It's good to have your convictions in these gray areas. It's good that you know that you have freedom to do things that are not sinful, that other people may have strong convictions against. It's wonderful God has given that to you, but keep them to yourselves. As God is saying here, it's between you and him. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith. For whatever is not from faith is sin. So you know that you can have bacon, lettuce, and tomato, or pork chops, or meat in general, and you have some weak Christian who just is convinced that you can't eat pork, and you really shouldn't eat meat because he's been a vegetarian all of his life before he came to Christ, whatever the reason might be. But he has convictions against it, but he sees you having a stake. And so even though his conscience is forbidding him, he has a stake. Well, that stake is not sin for you, because you know it's not sinful inherently. But he is convinced that it is, but he wants to be like you, so he does it. And he commits sin because he has gone against his conscience. And you helped him by flaunting your desire to have meat in front of him. So what God is saying is, don't do something if you have doubts about it being morally correct. This is a good standard for us to live by. When there are gray areas, people sometimes write and ask me questions about particular gray areas, and I give them God's answer right here. Don't do something if you have doubts about it being morally correct. I tried to instruct them what the Bible teaches, but then I said, you've got to go with your conscience. Don't go against your conscience. If you don't know that something is okay, and you have doubts about it being the right thing to do, yet you do it, you have just committed a sin. So that can answer a lot of questions about a lot of different things, a lot of gray area type things. Well, we'll stop right there.
