They admit that their taste has been influenced by the platform, as they have started watching different types of shows. The speaker concludes by emphasizing the importance of Netflix's recommendation system in shaping their viewing experience. Hello. Today, I'm gonna talk about culture industry, taste and consumption of Netflix in this episode. First, I can start with the culture industry. It's a term that used by Adorno and Horkaj. According to them, culture industry is manipulating societies with mass products by changing ideologies to people. Actually, most digital platforms also can be given as an example for this manipulation. For example, Netflix. Netflix is a platform with lots of films, series and documentaries. This platform usage increased with pandemic. Almost whole world started to use it at all. And it affect Netflix algorithms. It shows to users which series or film is popular now. When user enter his or her page, they see top 10 recommended series. We mainly see what Netflix recommend us according to the data that they collect. People may feel like they have false consciousness. Because they are consuming things that made and controlled by industries and classes. According to Adorno and Horkajmer, culture industry produces typical products for economy. So, it's clear that industries expected people to react and understand what they want from them for their products. Now, let me talk about my usage of Netflix. Personally, I started to use the platform few years ago. I personally prefer Korean shows or dramas on Netflix. And with my algorithm, Netflix mostly show me Asian products on the platform. It recommends me these. And as I said, top 10 preferred products that their data collected by other users. I pick my choices according to my taste. Like Bordu said, my taste is immersed by my social and cultural accumulation. Netflix can be count as culture intermediary. Because it is tastemaker. Even we don't have any interest to the topic, it shows a trailer on our page on the top. And try to influence us to start that product. And not just on social media, they show their new products posted in cities to show people that series is coming. I accept that it changed my taste. As I said, I like Asian Korean dramas more. And generally, I prefer romantic ones. But on Netflix, I faced with so many products that are not my style. But because I saw, I start to watch it and I like it. Now, I'm watching several types of products on Netflix. As I mentioned a lot, recommendation system is really important for Netflix. Collect data, process them and distribute to user's page. To sum up, my Netflix usage is like this. Get in, look what platform recommend me, look top 10 and start to watch my choice between them. Thank you for listening. See you soon in other episode. Goodbye.
