water you'll be free Take it all but take your time Oh I was just a little bird Don't deep into the world thought I could take it all And you showed up right by my side My witness and my light Now we've grown up in the sky Boy this world was meant for you and I Up and down I know you will survive But if you need me, well I got you And I'll try to cut you down to size Broken heart will heal in rush Our good time friends are all waiting on us There's a dime store disco ball and salt dust on the floor Somebody yellin' at the band, turn it up a little more They play Mama Tried and Folsom Prison Blues But I'm in a workin' on the night news kinda mood Don't it feel good? Don't it feel just right? A little rockin' in the plane Just a little you and me in the porch fly Don't it feel good? Don't it feel just right? Two hearts stompin' like a bass drum Drummin' baby all night Don't it feel good? There's a blue breeze blowin' well baby let it blow Got this blanket wrapped around us and you cuddled up close Got a nice box of wine and two empty cups It really needs fillin' but I don't wanna get up Yeah, don't it feel good? Don't it feel just right? A little rockin' in the plane Just a little you and me in the porch fly Don't it feel good? Don't it feel just right? Two hearts stompin' like a bass drum Drummin' baby all night Don't it feel good? Didn't think there was another place I'd rather be tonight You whisper in my ear baby let's move this inside Don't it feel good? Don't it feel just right? A little rockin' in the plane Just a little you and me in the porch fly Don't it feel good? Don't it feel just right? Two hearts stompin' like a bass drum Drummin' baby all night Don't it feel good? Can't believe I'm sayin' this But you'd be crazy not to take it That dream job in Jersey The one that's had me worried Ever since you started prayin' for me I won't lie, it hit me hard Oh and I laugh back into your car Yes it is what it is but don't you forget Before you go to remember this Cause it all goes south up north And that draw page from your voice You and the cowboy boots and front porch flames Wind on the chimes in the middle of spring Your Sunday drive is a joy When you walk through the lanes instead of porch I ain't goin' nowhere, I'll be right here It all goes south up north Must be doin' alright Hadn't heard a thing from you in a while Must have fell right in Found a couple good friends just like I knew you But if you ever think about me Standin' in the driveway watchin' you leave Hope you know I mean every word I said You can still catch the man Cause it all goes south up north And that draw page from your voice You and the cowboy boots and front porch flames Wind on the chimes in the middle of spring Your Sunday drive is a joy When you walk through the lanes instead of porch I ain't goin' nowhere, I'll be right here It all goes south up north I'll be high enough that I wouldn't pray right now to the good Lord That it all goes south up north And that draw page from your voice You miss my cowboy boots and front porch flames Wind on the chimes in the middle of spring Your Sunday drive is a joy When you walk through the lanes instead of porch I ain't goin' nowhere, I'll be right here It all goes south up north It all goes south up north It all goes south up north This 9-to-5 shit ain't doin' it for me Workin' late to make that line that I will never meet So I'm packin' it up and packin' it in Headin' to places I've never been No one can hold me down, no one's tougher than I can You can't stop me now, I got music in my blood I've got a violent smile on and it's fillin' up my cup You can't stop me now, I'm kickin' up dust in my rear view I've got a song to play and places to stay and I'll do it all again No, you can't stop me now No, you can't stop me now I put my dreams aside and hide upon a chair Take them down and dust them off and live them for myself You can't stop me now, I got music in my blood I've got a violent smile on and it's fillin' up my cup You can't stop me now, I'm kickin' up dust in my rear view I've got a song to play and places to stay and I'll do it all again No, you can't stop me now No, you can't stop me now You can't stop me now, I got music in my blood I've got a violent smile on and it's fillin' up my cup You can't stop me now, I'm kickin' up dust in my rear view I've got a song to play and places to stay and I'll do it all again You can't stop me now No, you can't stop me now No, you can't stop me now No, girls and guys are men and I just can't wait to meet them I need another Jose Day Well, I'm dreaming about my getaway To a purple sunset and a pumpkin moon I'll be doing nothing Just doing nothing I love doing nothing I'll be doing nothing Just doing nothing You're listening to the Tim Kelly Show on KICR Indie Country Radio New Country's Best on New Music Friday And my special guest tonight is Wolf Milestone from Canada How are you my friend? I'm doing very well, is it cold down there? It is not too bad today, it has been A couple of days ago we were in the 20s for the lows And winter just doesn't want to loosen its grip But we had the official full day of spring this week So first day, so hopefully it will get warmer It's supposed to be in the 60s today, so not too bad Yeah, well we got a surprise yesterday For the first day of spring, it snowed up here in Canada Is that right? Well I blame those Canadian cold fronts on you guys That's what I call them, the Canadian cold fronts So you grew up in a little town just north of Toronto, Canada Holland Landing, I had never heard of that one But I've heard of Toronto for sure Oh yeah, well Toronto is like the main one So there's all these little towns and cities around it My parents said they moved to Holland Landing When I was just a young lad So after Hurricane Hazel hit back in the early 50s My mother said to my dad We are not living here no more We're going back to the city So we came to the city when I was 7 years old There you go I am also one of 5 children I'm the oldest of 5 boys And I see there's 5 children in your family too And yes, I'm the oldest as well Oh wow, we have that in common, how about that? Oh there you go You started listening to music by your mother playing piano I bet she was talented Oh yes, when we were living in the country Up in Holland Landing We had the piano, we had no TV We had the radio of course But mom, she played the piano a lot And then of course, being the oldest I learned so much from her She taught me the scales of harmony Different groups of how to project my voice And then after we moved to the city I started going to the church choir And school choir And I've been singing all my life Wow, that's awesome Now your name Wolf Milestone We were talking about this off the air You got Wolf as an E on the end of it And that is your given name Wolf Milestone, that's pretty cool I thought it might be a stage name or something No, no, no, like I said My father was German, or is German And my mother, being Irish She didn't want no gang in my name Because my father wanted to call me Wolf Gang Which is very common in Germany But over in Europe, like in England, Ireland, Scotland Wolf with an E is very, very prominent Wow, that is cool My player John Wolf, he has an E on the end of it He's from Houston, Texas, down here in the United States Been playing his music for a long, long time I love your name, it sticks out It's very unique in the world of not only music But country music especially Yeah, yeah, yeah I've had some fun times as a young child Growing up with the name Wolf Yeah, absolutely In fact, your CD Currently, I guess out right now Is called Milestones and Memories Yes, it is That is awesome, I love that Great name on that You started out Though not in country music You started out listening and playing rock music So tell us about that Well, being a young guy Back then The Beatles were coming along The singing of their voices And their harmonies Really stuck to me So I started playing a lot of Beatles And then the Rolling Stones, Dave Kirk 5 The Animals And stuff like that I did that for a few years And then I wasn't quite happy with it It wasn't what I was really looking for So then I started writing some of my own material And then I met this drummer Percy Cannon years ago And him and I have been friends For over 40 some years now And he said to me one day Why don't you come play in a country band You're never out of work Because at that time When you were playing rock and roll You were kind of reaching out For venues to play So I joined him With the country band And the first song the guy said to me He says, okay we're going to do Good Hearted Woman and Key of D I go, okay, I'm in D He goes, well do the bass part I go, well how does it go? So I learned quickly How to become a country bass guitarist That is awesome And that's probably one you're holding Right here on your website too Isn't it? Well yes, I still have that guitar It's my original 1969 Precision bass guitar A 1969, how about that You're showing your age now I'll tell you mine too I was 7 years old in 1969 The country music back then Is what we now call Classic country music And you make some great What we call traditional country too And I always love it And give kudos to the artists That are keeping traditional country music alive So well done my friend Well thank you Tim Getting back to the classic It's always been a good feel And it has a story It kind of helps It gives you that challenge To project something even more Yeah, absolutely Now it said that when you were introduced to country music It was a sound that you hadn't heard Since your childhood So what was your childhood like as far as country music Who did you grow up listening to Or hear on the radio Of course Hank Williams Sr Charley Pride Johnny Cash Willard James, Willie Nelson Roy Orbison Just to name a few Man, that's all good stuff That's the reason People want to make country music Is to try to Not only just emulate that But to keep traditional country music alive And there's a process isn't there To make traditional country music You have to have the steel guitar in there And some of those instruments That just make it sound really good Oh yeah, definitely When I first heard the steel guitar I thought what an instrument How it creates such beautiful Musical sounds And I thought Boy, if I ever get a chance To play in a band with a steel guitarist I'm going to join And eventually I did I hired a steel guitarist in my band And I've always had a steel guitar That's awesome Now how many members are in your band And let's give them a shout out Tell us who they are Well I have a four piece band At the moment And when I get to bigger venues Of course when you get more money You can hire another player So right now on lead guitar and vocals His name is Jacob Carriere He's from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada And I got Paul Neller On bass guitar and vocals He's from a little town called Brantford, Ontario And on drums I got Dennis Lane On vocals as well And he lives up in Ajax, Ontario And that way there we formed The whole Milestone band That is awesome That's some good stuff And that's one of the hardest things Probably been over the years Is to keep a band together Well yeah, luckily right now Two of my members have been with me Almost eight years And we just got a new drummer Which is Dennis The other drummer he retired Ok You guys become really close Once you get the band formed And everything I know you travel on the road a lot And if you do the touring thing You eat and sleep on those buses Or motorhomes It's almost like a family relationship Isn't it? Spending that much time together And of course writing and playing music too Yeah It's just It's a life that you Have to have love for And of course we all do And we have a lot of fun There's no animosity or nothing We all get along great It's really fun Yeah it is And there's nothing better than getting paid to do a gig That you absolutely love what you're doing That's for sure Well yeah Like the four of us now We're not going to be millionaires We know that We're not really in it for the big money Because the big money just isn't out there We just love the playing aspect of it And of course when we do get some money It's always You know We're grateful to get paid for what we do Yeah absolutely Now it says too that over the years You played in different bands And you were constantly searching for a perfect combination You got frustrated at some point And now you're writing your own material Man I love talking about songwriting Because most of the artists I play on this program Write their own material And I love hearing original music And that's what this station and this show is all about So tell us about that songwriting process For yourself And maybe if you remember the first song you ever wrote Yeah I do As a matter of fact You know when you're very young I was about 16 years old And I wrote this song Called As Beautiful As You I'll never forget That's the first song that I ever wrote I should record that someday It's still you know Freshly in my mind Because it's the first one I ever wrote And I called it Beautiful As You You know I talk about that all the time too There's so many songs that artists have On the back burner that they haven't recorded I've heard as long as 10 years old You know that this song has just been sitting there And they finally decided to record it So that particular song has probably been longer than 10 years Oh yeah I would say over half a century Wow It's time to record that thing Yeah I know I've been thinking about it It's funny that you mention this you know About two months ago I was going through some of my old tracks That I had Songs that I've written Oh gee man there's that old song That I wrote a long time ago When I was like 16 years old And I picked up the guitar And I just started singing and playing it again I said to myself It's just like yesterday all over again Wow isn't that something You know we talk about that all the time on the radio And then they talk about it in the theater Where I broadcast live I'll be there tomorrow night at the Pierce Arrow Theater With the Nashville Roadhouse Live show You know just a song on the radio Either brings back a good memory It could be a bad memory Whatever But once you hear that song It sure sticks in your head And those are the classics that we remember They bring back so many memories Yes they do And as a real classic songwriter Like in Willie Nelson And Merle Haggard Those guys are prolific Prolific songwriters And definitely stand in the test of time Even though a lot of those have passed on Willie Nelson 90 years old And he's still doing it Yeah I know I'm getting up there Into my 70s now And I'm proud to say that And I'm still doing what I've been doing all my life And I love doing There's nothing better Your songs were recorded at Bear Creek Studios In Surrey British Columbia So big shout out to them Good stuff Well I appreciate that I lived out there for 20 some years And Ed Milewski He's another songwriter Engineer, producer Him and I became very very good friends And he offered the studio to me And I recorded Three CDs there And they're doing very well Even still to this day I'm getting there So much airplay It's so rewarding Tim DJ's such as yourself Appreciate our music And we really appreciate what you guys are doing Helping us get our name out there Well thank you so much You would not believe The music that I get on a weekly and daily basis It's just crazy Every time I check my emails I feel like I'm so far behind I can do a new show every week With at least 20 brand new songs God bless you If it wasn't for guys like you We wouldn't be out there doing what we're doing right now Well thank you I appreciate that And there is so much new music out there And so much talent These independent artists started coming our way A long time ago And it still happens like that Many of them have been on these big talent competitions Here in the United States Like The Voice or American Idol Or America's Got Talent But there's a lot of talent up in Canada You're the number two spot For where I get music from up there So tell us about the country music scene up there I know there's some talented artists for sure And a lot of probably great venues too It's incredible No matter what part of Southern Ontario That we go to They call it the GTA Greater Toronto area There's so many studded musicians out there Singers, songwriters It's incredible And when we do the summer festivals And jamborees That's the only time we can all get together Under one umbrella For three full days Of nothing but Country music And reminiscing with some friends And just shooting the breeze And talking about the good times It's a lot of fun I look forward to the summer It's totally rewarding Because everybody during the winter is on the road And you want to stick close to home Because of the driving But come the summer time You can reach out Spread yourself a little bit more To different jamborees and festivals And we're getting ready Next month to do our First TV show For the summer With the Breezeway and Mill Pond music Up here in Colbert, Ontario, Canada Well there you go, congratulations on that Now I know that you post a lot In my Facebook pages and groups So feel free to do that when that TV show Hits and you're on it So everybody can go and watch that If they put a link out to that I'll definitely do that It's going to be April 2nd At 6.30 And I'll make sure that it's on Facebook That sounds fantastic I look forward to seeing some of that Now you've got a great song that we're going to play For you tonight, called Me and My Radio Was that kind of how you grew up? It was just you listening to the radio And that's where you developed your love of music And country music Well strangely enough, Tim My father was a truck driver And uh Yeah, so When I, you know, growing up as a kid I said, Mom, when I grow up I want to be like Dad, I want to drive a truck So then I became a truck driver For a little while That was going to be my question Did you do it? Oh yes, for many years Okay, awesome And the radio was your friend too And the CB radio Talking to the other folks Man, I remember some of the stories Those told by guys like Red Sovine And those that made those trucking songs CB McCall CB McCall back with Convoy Or C.W. McCall back with Convoy Back in the day So yeah, I remember those Those are the ones I grew up listening to Well I got a song for you that I wrote It's called Where My Truck Stops Okay, I have that on the bedroom floor 20 pairs of shoes on the bed 45 minutes putting makeup on I'm watching thinking what's coming next I bet by now that you've walked in A couple dozen times Asking hey baby tell me what you think Do I look pretty enough tonight I'm thinking I'm a lucky guy You're pretty long, pretty tall Pretty much all I'm dreaming of When it comes to late night living room Barefoot dancing you're a star Pretty patient, pretty strong But that ain't all you got going on Don't get me wrong when it comes to pretty You set the bar But it's pretty crazy If you think pretty is all you are You're a Picasso in a t-shirt painting walls A spackle-covered beautiful mess A suit of chevron, a nude queen Einstein in a sundress When you think that all the world can see Is just another pretty face Girl it set the record straight You're pretty long, pretty tall Pretty much all I'm dreaming of When it comes to late night living room Barefoot dancing you're a star Pretty patient, pretty strong But that ain't all you got going on Don't get me wrong when it comes to pretty You set the bar But it's pretty crazy If you think pretty is all you are You may best believe you're as graceful as you're smart But if you're asking me Pretty is a pretty good place to start Cause you're pretty lovely, pretty tough Pretty much all I'm dreaming of When it comes to late night living room Barefoot dancing you're a star Pretty patient, pretty strong But that ain't all you got going on You're made of my stubborn kind That follows your heart Don't get me wrong when it comes to pretty You set the bar But it's pretty crazy If you think pretty is all you are All you are Damn you're pretty You're listening to Tim Kelly on Indie Country Freak Memories they treat I was a little girl wanting more Two red lights, one stop sign I was looking for an open door To get out of this town and find my way Wasn't gonna listen to Anyone or anything Didn't need this place Or anybody in it Still I remember That time That day That day outside my grandma's house That night in the creek Where we swam in the storm My five kids were there My high school fun to watch That love in a broken heart I was Time to play At the church and cry Can't pull my rope down Remembering those times It's Friday night No matter where I go No matter what I do I've been missing me More than you Now I miss the old driving Driving back roads with my friends On flights, on weekends I really wanna feel that again I didn't need this place Or anybody in it Still I remember That time That day That day outside my grandma's house That night in the creek Where we swam in the storm My five kids were there My high school fun to watch That love in a broken heart I was Time to play At the church and cry Can't pull my rope down Remembering those times It's Friday night No matter where I go No matter what I do I've been missing me More than you More than you More than you I guess I hate to go To find my way home With my friends Just passing outside my grandma's house That night in the creek Where we swam in the storm My five kids were there My high school fun to watch That love in a broken heart I was Time to play At the church and cry Can't pull my rope down Remembering those times It's Friday night No matter where I go No matter what I do I've been missing me More than you More than you Yes, you've been missing She knows all about football Knows NASCAR And the Bible like the back of her hand Knows her way around the wild west But she's fine with A cold course light as a can She likes the way Route 33 smells She's dirty, suckers, sweet She's funny as hell She's such a pretty Don't mind the city But she'd rather live outside of town And one of these days It's just a matter of settling down Oh, if I could find me a girl Like the one my daddy found He'd Instagram her on Instagram Swipe right on Tinder Didn't meet her at a bar down in Birmingham Or at a show in Denver He was sitting in a church In a button-down shirt She was singing in the choir Oh, and I just pray The good Lord made another one like her She knows all about football Knows NASCAR And the Bible like the back of her hand Knows her way around the wild west But she's fine with A cold course light as a can She likes the way Route 33 smells She's dirty, suckers, sweet She's funny as hell She's such a pretty Don't mind the city But she'd rather live outside of town And one of these days It's just a matter of settling down Oh, if I could find me a girl Like the one my daddy found He said, I'd do it And he never looked back Oh, I want to love a woman like that Cause a woman like that Knows all about football Knows NASCAR And the Bible like the back of her hand Knows her way around the wild west But she's fine with A cold
