The speaker starts with a prayer, expressing gratitude and asking for protection for the Cabin and Greens families. They also pray for young people dealing with peer pressure and distractions from spirituality. They ask for guidance for administrators and parents in teaching children about God. They then discuss song selections and read from Psalms 8. They mention Matthew Maury, a scientist who gained knowledge from the Bible, and share some proverbs. They also mention Jesus' teachings on finding the lost, denying oneself, and the importance of the word of God. They end by asking for readers for the day. Can you try theirs again? Okay. Isaac, would you go ahead with the opening prayer? Yes, sir. Dear Father, we thank you for this awesome day. We thank you for blessing us in an awesome way. We just come to say thank you. We come to say we love you. And we come to tell you, Lord, there is no other like you. And there's something, Lord, we just want to give you the honor and the praise that is due to you. Lord, we're honored that we're able to give you our thoughts of the first of the day versus giving it to you as our leftovers to you, Lord. We lift up you as the head of our lives and not the tail of our lives, Lord. Lord, I just want to pray for the Cabin family, Lord. I pray that you be with them. I pray that you be with the Greens family. I pray that you be with Coco and all the young people like her that is dealing with things in this world, you know, dealing with school. There's peer pressure. There's a lot of things in this world, Lord, that is trying to pull their minds away from you, Lord. I'll be with all the young people in times like this, Lord. Sometimes serving you is difficult as a young person in this day and age with all the technology, Lord. But I'm thankful for people like her that is willing to express interest in spiritual things. Lord, I pray that you protect that desire in her and that's in all the young people and protect that. Lord, may we continue to encourage them to do what is right, to do what is pleasing to you, but most importantly, to seek you first in all that they do in their lives. Lord, I pray that you be with the administrators at school. I pray that you be with the parents because you have directed that we should train up a child. And so let us be due diligent to talk to them about you every chance that we get. There's a lot of things that's been spoken in this world, Lord, but not enough is spoken about you, Lord. And may we educate our children about how awesome and great God is. Lord, I thank you for this call. I thank you for Mike. I thank you for all the people that have joined together here to express interest in you and praising you, learning more about you, Lord, and giving honor and glory to you. We ask this prayer in Jesus' name we pray, amen. Okay. Amen. Thank you. Thank you. So anybody got a song selection for today? Okay. Yeah, I got page 811. I am coming, Lord. Okay. Go ahead. I hear thy welcome voice that calls me, Lord, to thee. For cleansing in the precious blood that flowed on Calvary. I am coming, Lord, coming now to thee. Wash me, cleanse me in the blood that flowed on Calvary. Though coming weak and vile, thou doest my strength assure. Thou doest my vileness fully cleanse to spotless awe and purity. I am coming, Lord, coming now to thee. Wash me, cleanse me in the blood that flowed on Calvary. This Jesus calls me on to perfect faith and love, to perfect hope and peace and trust for earth and heaven above. I am coming, Lord, coming now to thee. Wash me, cleanse me in the blood that flowed on Calvary. Amen. Amen. That's a very good song. And anybody else? Okay. I selected one, but I'm not going to read it in the interest of time. And another one I selected I am going to read is song number three. Song number three in your books is called O High Glorious. It's based on Psalm 8. And it says, O high glorious, full of wonder, is thy name over all the earth. Thou who brought creation's splendor, bringing suns and stars to birth. Rapt in reverence we adore thee, marveling at their mystic ways. Humbly now we bow before thee, lifting up our hearts in praise. When we see thy lights of heaven, moon, and stars of power displayed, what is man that thou shouldst love him, creature that thou hast made? Child of earth, yet full of yearning, mixture strange of good and ill. From thy ways so of often turning, yet thy love doth seek and still. Thou hast given man dominion over the wonders of thy hand. Made him fly with eagle pinion, master over sea and land. Soaring spire and ruined city, these our hopes and failures show. Teach us more of human pity, that we in thine image grow. Amen. And that's based on Psalms 8. And Psalms 8 is a very good reading. And part of Psalms 8, 8 said that this man named Matthew Maury was sick. And a friend came to him. He was in bed and his friend was reading to him from the Psalms. And he read this verse 8 of 8, 8, 8. Psalms 8, 8. And it says, and the birds of the air and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas. So he took that reading and he said, well, if there's paths in the seas, we ought to be able to find them. And he went out and doing research at it. And he's the one that figured out this big currents in the seas. And you probably have seen maps with all the different currents. And even today, the big ships follow those currents because it takes less fuel and everything, go faster. It does good doing a straight line and resisting the currents. And he's considered the father of the NOAA agency, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. That scientific endeavor anyway. Also discovered things about how the currents move in the air. So from the Bible, he gained some great scientific knowledge just by listening closely to what the Bible said. That's an interesting thing. I'm going to send out, hopefully I'm going to send out an email today. And if you look at it, I've got a link to that article about him in there. So, anybody else have a song? Okay, we'll move on to Proverbs. We got any Proverbs from Proverbs 16? 16, verse 18. The pride goes before destruction, and the heart is spirit before it falls. Okay. That's one good thing that we ought to always remember. I've got, go ahead. Go ahead. I've got 16, 3, 4, and 5. Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established. God has made all for himself, yes, even the wicked for the day of doom. Everyone, proud in heart, is an abomination to the Lord. Though they join forces, none will go unpunished. Okay. Amen. I have 16, 6 through 8. I mean, probably 16, 6 through 8. Okay. Go ahead. Unstable love and faithfulness makes atonement for sin. By fearing the Lord, people avoid evil. When people's lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them. Better to have little with godlessness than to be rich and dishonest. Okay, good. Anybody else? I picked out something that had. What was that? Was that you, Willie? That's you, Willie. I hear something, but I couldn't understand it. Willie just read somebody moving or something. Okay. I picked out a few that I think have to do with us getting along with others, and some have already been read. Verse 2 says, all the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the Lord's way of the spirits. And then 17, 18, 19, and 20. The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Let's skip to 19. Better is one, it is to be of a humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoiled with the proud. And 20, he that handleth a man wisely shall find good, and whosoever trusteth in the Lord happy is he. Happy is he that trusteth in the Lord. The wise in the heart shall be called prudent, and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. And then 24, pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to the bones. That's some very good advice there. It's got a lot of trouble. Remember that. 27, an ungodly man biggeth up evil, and in his lips is a burning fire. 28, a froward man soweth strife, and at whispers separate his chief friends. 29, a violent man enticeth his neighbor and leadeth him into the way that is not good. 30, he shutteth his eyes to divide forward things. Moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass. And 32, he that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh the city. So that one's so important. I'm going to read it again. 32, he that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh the city. Okay, we got any quotations from Jesus? Jesus said... We got Matthew 15, verse 4. Okay. What man of you having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the 99 in the wilderness and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? Amen, that's good. And anybody else? I got Mark 8, 34 through 38. He said, when he had called the people to himself with his disciples also, he said to them, Word, whoever desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and my words is in this adulterous and sinful generation. Of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. Okay, that's very good. Anybody else? All right, I have one. Luke 8, 11. It says, now, this is Jesus explaining the parable of the sower. He says, now, the parable is this. The seed is the word of God. And that goes along with another passage. This is not actually Jesus speaking. The Paul writing to the Romans says, So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. There's no other song. How about readers, we got? Ty, you going to read? Sure, I can. And Tim said he'd be checking out on us, maybe. I'll read until I have to leave. I may stay in, you know, until it's over. Ty and Tim and Isaac, are you in a position to read today? Not right now. I'll probably get to the spot and pull over. How about Patricia? Can you read? Yes, I can. Patricia and Coco, can you read? Coco, you there? Does food leave Coco? All right. Well, we got Capricia Nelson on. We haven't heard from her in a while. Morning, Capricia. Do you want to read? Okay, no answer there. Okay, so I guess we've got Ty, Tim, and Patricia right now. So, we're continuing our... ...on Charles. If we're getting the main man, Charles. I don't know if everybody knows this, but we wouldn't be here without Charles. And the Lord, of course. So, we're continuing our study of the temptation of Jesus, which occurred after his baptism. The devil took him out into the wilderness. Let's read Matthew's account. In Matthew 4, 1 through 11. Ty, can you read that? Sure. It says, Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. For 40 days and 40 nights he fasted and became very hungry. During the time, the devil came and said to him, If you are the son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread. But Jesus told him, No. It's just to say, people do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Then the devil took him to the Holy Spirit, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the temple. And said, if you are the son of God, jump off. For the stripper says, he will order the angels to protect you, and they will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your feet on a stone. Jesus responded, the stripper says, you must not test the Lord your God. Next, the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and shown him all the kingdoms of the world and their glories. I will give it all to you, he said, if you will kneel down and worship me. Get out of here, Satan, Jesus told him. For the stripper says, you must worship the Lord God and serve only him. Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus. This is a good while before the actual New Testament verses were written. The commentator says, the temptation, if you will worship me, the kingdoms of the world shall be yours. And we'll read again, this sounds like repetitive, but it doesn't hurt to repeat. We'll read Matthew 4, 5 through 8. I don't know, Luke 4, 5 through 8. Whose turn is it, Tim? Can you read Luke 4, 5 through 8? All right. Luke 4, 5 through 8. And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed him to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to him, all this power will I give thee and the glory of the day, for that is delivered to me. For that is delivered unto me and to whomever I will give it. And thou therefore will worship me, all shall be thine. And Jesus answered and said to him, get thee behind me, Satan. For it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Okay, thank you. And then the commentator says about verse 5, it says the devil led him to a high place. Where he was and how the devil did this is not explained. It may have been by means of a vision. And he quotes two scriptures where visions were shown to people in Ezekiel where he took him up on a high mountain, Ezekiel 40, verse 2. Took Ezekiel up on a high mountain. And then in Revelation 21, 10, where it took John up on a high mountain and showed him the holy Jerusalem descending from heaven. But he says, which I agree with, it does not really matter how, but he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. He says that this temptation was a lust of the eyes. And we'll read again, 1 John 2, 16. Patricia, can you read that? 1 John 2, 16. I can. For all that is of the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world. So the commentator says the devil showed him all these things and promised all this power I give thee in the glory of them. How could the devil offer this? The answer is because he is the prince of the world. I guess Charles, I lost my list of readers, but I believe Charles is next. John 12, 31. All right. John 12, 31 states, Now as the children of this world, now shall the prince of this world be cast out. All right. So he's calling the devil being the prince of the world. He says he's also the prince of the power of the air. Charles, will you go ahead and read that? Ephesians 2, 2. Ephesians 2, 2. States. Wherein in time past he walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. All right. Commentator says the whole world lies in the power of wickedness. 1 John 5, 19. Tim, can you read that? Okay. 1 John 5, 19. And also Ephesians 6, 12. Against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. So we need to keep in mind that just as God is real, so the devil is real too. And he's out there seeking to attract us and take our souls. So we'll end up in the second death. We don't want to be there. The devil often wins, but it's up to us to resist him. The commentator says in verse 7, about verse 7, he says, if you will worship me with all yours, quoting from what the devil says. He says the kingdom of men, that is those kingdoms influenced and backed by Satan, have always been in conflict with the reign and rule of God. The devil offers to Jesus the glory that only the world can give. Indeed, throughout all the generations of men, there have been those who sought this kind of honor and legacy. They have been deceived by the devil, who's the father of lies. John 8, 44. In the thinking that the material things that I can see or the hand can hold are the most important possessions of life. And let's read, I lost my place, but I think Toshiba, can you read John 8, 44? Okay. It says, for you are the children of your father, the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. You are a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Okay. So that's one thing we need to remember. The devil is the father of lies, and if we start lying, then we become the devil's children, his followers. And Patricia, about 2 Corinthians 4, 16-18. Okay. All right. Okay. Therefore, we do not lose heart, even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our life affliction, which is but a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Did you say 18, too? Yes. While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. That was the verse that was called out in the outline. The things we see are just temporary things, but the things we don't see are eternal, will last forever. The commentator says, Jesus showed the most important glory, which is eternal with the Father. We, too, must choose whose honor we seek. It is written, again, Jesus answered with Scripture, we must worship the Lord God and him only, those who only lift up human beings, that is, athletes, movie stars, musicians, etc. Politicians, we might add those to the group. Religious, a lot of religious leaders, could add those to the group. It says, those who lift up human beings and neglect to worship God have made a vain idol in their hearts. Let's read John 17, 5. Charles, did you read that? John 17, 5. Yes, sir, I got you. John 17, 5. Okay. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. All right. Okay, and then also while you're there, read Deuteronomy 6, 13. Okay, Deuteronomy 6, 13. Okay. It states, Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. That's right. Did I miss any readers? Tim, are you still able to read? I'm here. Philippians 3, 18-21. Okay. Philippians 3, 18-21. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to his glory spot, according to the working by which he is able even to do all things to himself. Okay. So that's in answer to the point that he made. Those who only lift up human beings and neglect to worship God have made a vain idol in their hearts. In verse 19, whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is their shame, to set their mind on earthly things. He's urging us to set our mind on heavenly things, things above. Verse 20 says, for our citizenship is in heaven. The question is, where is your citizenship? Is it in heaven? Are you like the person he's talking about? He says, do you eagerly wait for the Savior? Are we looking forward to Jesus' coming? Several members of this group are eagerly waiting to join with you in a personal Bible study, which I could certainly help to arrange if you call me. If you don't have my number, stay on and I'll give you my number. Let us remember, we've got some on. I lose track of who's got what. We offer a songbook for free and also a lesson book for free. Don't take any donations. Don't want your money. Don't want you to be a disciple of anybody on here. I want you to be a disciple of Christ. If you need a songbook or a lesson book, then you'll have to get with me because I've lost track of who's got what. Charles, can you read number 425? 425, Jesus, let us come to know you. All right. Yes, sir. I got you. 425. All right. Jesus, let us come to know you. Let us see you face to face. Touch us, hold us, use us, mold us. Only let us live in you. Jesus, draw us ever nearer. Hold us in your loving arms. Wrap us in your gentle presence. When the end comes, bring us home. Amen. Amen. And I'm going to try to send those that can get one a link, an email with a link to that song, so if you care to, you can learn the tune. And I think you'll enjoy listening to it. So, Tim, would you lead us in a closing prayer? Are you still able? Sure. Would you join me in prayer? Dear Lord, our God, wonderful Father, loving Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Dear Father, we thank you so much for blessing us, Father, to be together this morning, to open up your word, to look into the things, Father, that you revealed to us, that we may be able to live holy lives here on this earth. We thank you, dear Father, that we can know that we have eternal life, dear Father, if we follow the Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and the things that he has presented to us. We thank you, dear Father, for Mike and his ability to lead us in this study and just pray to the Father your blessing upon him and his family. We thank you, dear Father, for all the many ones that are able to join in this morning to study from your word and to just pray your blessing on them, Father, and just pray that we can all be an influence to each other, Father, we can encourage and lift each other up in those times, Father. We just need the physical contact here on this earth that we know, dear Father, that we turn to you, that we understand, dear Father, that we are foreigners in this land and that we have a home in glory with you, that we will store up our treasures, dear Father, in your heavenly kingdom and not in the treasures here below. We thank you, Father, for your word that you've given us. We pray, dear Father, that you would bless us to be focused, dear Father. That the gospel is your power to save those that are lost. And we just pray, Father, that we will be focused on the Great Commission that you've given us, that we go out and make disciples and teach them to obey your commands. And we just pray, Father, that we would look for those around us, dear Father, that are in darkness and that are lost and that we would open up your word, dear Father, and have a study with them and just show them, Father, your message that is able to save And we just pray that we would be effective in doing these things, Father, and that you would bless us to always be mindful, Father, to give you the glory in all the many things that we can accomplish. We pray, dear Father, that you would be with us as we travel about today. Give us safe travel to our destination, safe return back to our homes and families. We pray, dear Lord, for those that are in jail and prison this morning. Just pray for their protection and their blessings upon them, Father, that they may be able to carry on in their life at this time. We pray that you would bring us back together again in the next appropriate time for this and all things. We pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
